[Music] the heroes of the Winnipeg Vancouver Smite division semi-final series beginning with Canucks Captain Trevor Lindon who accounted for the winning goal in game number [Applause] one the Russian rocket sent the Canucks into orbit in game two P albur gave Vancouver the Victory and a two- nothing series lead back in Winnipeg for game three white noise was a factor and propelled team salani to a hattick the Jets were back in the series but it was suddenly quiet in the White House when Greg Adams scored first early in the first period of game four on Sunday then an unlikely hero Sergio meso scored the winner in the second period the Jets did all they could to win including hold their own in a physical game contact was frequent and more often than not the Jets were the aggressors but no matter what they did they could not penetrate Kirk McLean’s net minding this was playoff goal tending at its best mlan emerged to Hero delivering the Canucks to a 3-1 win and a 3-1 series lead they’re on the verge of advancing but the head coach is cautious remembering well who led this series 3-1 a year [Music] ago Pat Quinn’s counterpart can’t afford to worry about the status of the series John paddock’s jets are down to one game there would be better places for the Jets to attempt a comeback than Pacific h as CM we’re dating back to last year’s playoffs they are one and eight the crowd here tonight expects the Canucks to move on to the SMI division final for the second time in two years and it looks like they’re dressed for the occasion assuming it’s a Jet’s funeral good evening everybody and welcome to the 1993 Stanley Cup Playoffs on molon Hockey Night in Canada with the odds favored the Canucks tonight absolutely Jets Trail three games to one and never in their history have they won a playoff game in which they faced elimination from the series several teams in the past few years have come from three to1 deficits to win Canucks did it to the Jets just a year ago but if the Jets are to do it this year they’ll have to win two games in this building beginning with tonight what the Canucks want more of in game five is the balanced attack they have had throughout this series it’s been a lowc scoring Affair so far but Trevor Lyndon and pav albur have led them with six points each the two players expected to leave the Jets attack half but most of teani’s points came in a single game aside from that he’s been shut down and that’s been a key to the series as has the nonproduction of Alexis jnov and of Genny davidov who were 20 goal scorers during the season neither have a single point in this series davidov won’t get a chance to get any tonight because he’s been scratched of course nonproduction of the Jets has a whole lot to do with the goal tending of K mlan especially the way he played on Sunday at Winnipeg raised his game a few levels and set a standard that Bob essence of the Jets May well have to meet poot van a few minutes later on just their second scored leagues were within two there were 3 minutes to go in the second period when ellot brought the Leafs to within one looked like he was just trying to put it on the net but it went past Chev day and it was 43 8 minutes to go in regulation time Wendel Clark shot went in off yees rin’s head game tied at four and so extra time required to decide who takes a 3-2 series lead they’re in overtime at Joe Lewis we understand the Leafs have just scored we’ll get the winning goal for you in just a moment so Toronto takes a 3-2 series lead at the saddle doome in Calgary Kings and Flames down to a best of three the collective scoring slump of the Los Angeles Stars ended when jimy Carson fed Thomas sandstrom on a two-on-one Kings had the lead and that was one of about four good chances Kings had to that point in the game with five and a half minutes to go on the period the Kings went up two nothing Mike donelly in alone on Jeff Reese for his second of the playoffs started looking worse for the Flames when Pat coner took a quick pass in front of Reese and scored on a low shot 3 nothing Los Angeles heading into this game the Kings didn’t have a goal from any of their big guns grey sandstrom Granada robai or Curry sandstrom scores tonight the others have yet to be heard from someone will take a 3-2 series lead tonight it will be the Kings if the Flames can’t come from behind now the winning goal from Joe Lewis arena in Detroit early in overtime Mike Felino for the Leafs Leafs at one point in this game trailed 4-1 battle back to tie it at four to force the extra time this had been a home I series until this point when Felino gave the lease the win at Joe Lewis arena in Detroit tonight and so Toronto and something of an upset takes a 3-2 series lead and a 5-4 overtime win important first goal the team that has scored first in every game has gone on to win it this is Howley just turned aside by mlan salani to kachu Jets controlling salani back to ton num back to salani and then backhanded into the stands by yuril Lum now to Scott Oak and an update Steve the second period in Calgary Luke robati would hurt the Kings with penalties in game three help them here to a 4 nothing lead robai 63 goals in the season finally has his first of the playoffs the kings are in control in Calgary fitting for a 3-2 series [Music] lead and you wonder if Mike Vernon was healthy enough to play and coach Dave King just decided to go with Reese who had played very well in Los Angeles or whether Vernon couldn’t play tonight I know there’d be lots of questions about that if the score continues to pile up 105 remaining in the power play for the Winnipeg Jets and that’s Jam off playing without a helmet Shannon Jam off back to Frederick olison cross to Howley olison back to janma olis shot score Darren Shannon in front with Gerald dick and Darren Shannon got his stick on that one Frederick olison we said Frederick olison and Howley on the point they feed olison and well tied up but didn’t have that stick tied up and Shannon gets it by K play and that’s the first goal of the playoffs for Darren Shannon came into this game with four assists but what a big goal it
