about Daniel Scott he’s gone out done Achilles te year two second year that he’s lost for the season because of a leg injury last year was an ACL this year in Achilles Michael Pitman Jr on the Shelf this week during mandatory mini camp Shane Sten last week talked about the injury that he suffered during week one of OTAs he and Jaylen Jones kind of clanked knees Pitman I saw this he walked off the field on his own and kind of limping looked like maybe he bang these so we took that at face value last week styken said he could go if he needed to go if he needed to practice he’d be able to practice this week he’s not going again do he take Shane styken at his word when he talks about injuries that’s an interesting discussion we’re going to talk about Alec Pierce and AD Mitchell I got a bad feeling about Alec Pierce I just do he can run straight fast but ad Mitchell has a skill level in doing stuff that really make you see him do it and you think okay maybe mid to late first round guy he lasted all the way to 52 is he going to supplant Alec Pierce we talk about this because yesterday Pierce talking to the media he said you know what I’m going to show up and do my best work and I’m going to try to push Mitchell he’s pushing me we are going to bring out the best in each other that is the best case scenario I think and living in Hope for Alec Pierce because ad Mitchell can flat play latu can get the edge in a way that’s very reminiscent of Robert Mattis and maybe even he may be able to get lower he’s unbelievable getting the corner and getting low against an offensive tackle we’ll talk about that a little bit we’ll talk about the Pacers there was an interesting conversation today on 1075 uh this morning as I’m driving I’m listening and they’re talking to Tony East who’s a great guy and Tony East is talking about signing Andrew nard to an extension why the hell would you do that of course you trade him his value is never going to be greater package him Miles Turner goodbye a O’s farewell get value back and get some guys on the floor with whom you could win a championship now I I’ll give you this caveat if they can’t move nimart that’s not a bad problem to have to have a backup point guard who can play like that that’s okay at $2 million a pop I’m cool with that but to think that as a starting point guard or a starting two you’re going to win a championship that isn’t going to happen you you got to shot with mathine because mathine can flat get Buckets he’s got to learn to play better defense nart a defensive liability and a guy who can’t be counted on on the regular to go get baskets 9.2 a game during the regular season now in the postseason he kind of flourished I like Andrew nart I got nothing nothing but love for Andrew nmart but can Andrew neb har win an NBA championship as a starter the answer is hell no that cannot happen again I like him but there’s a ceiling to him at point guard or at shooting guard um we’re going to talk a after last year tearing his Achilles yikes that pairs back a position group that was really a position of weakness already and a lack of depth for the Colts so you’ve got you’ve got Nick cross you’ve got Rodney Thomas and you had Daniel Scott at at free safety potentially now you’ve got cross and Thomas which is what you had last year whenever went to hell in a hand cart as Nico Collins went bing bang bong 75 yards to open the game for the Texans play one from stoud goners and you’re down seven nothing before you even take a seat if you’re a fan that can’t happen you can’t trust free safeties who let a receiver like Nico Collins who you know you’ve got to keep an eye on you’ve been game planning for him all week long he’s the guy and you cannot stop him on the first play good coaching by the Texans terrible coaching terrible EX ution by your Indianapolis Colts so the Colts they got to go get a safety and you can do that veteran safeties they’re there there are always guys in the month of June that are there that have got just a little bit of football left in them guys like a couple of years ago Rodney uh McLoud you had in the past Michael Adams you had four other teams guys like Quinton Michael guys who still have a little bit of football left that we can ring out of them they’re out there and Chris Ballard’s got to find one because they’re really a free safety away from having the safety position where you kind of like it if Julian Blackman can stay healthy then you’re talking about Corners Kenny Moore I’m good with him in the slot Juju brenz I think he is healthy he’s going to be fine at one corner at the other corner you got problems Dallas flowers uh Jaylen Jones those guys that’s a that’s a potential problem area for the Colts let’s not see that become really bad what they decided to do we talked about it this morning they brought more pass rush on of the team by drafting Leu latu and he can get I’m telling you he can get his body like that angle as he comes around the edge it’s awesome he is going to get to the quarterback periodically this year and by p i it wouldn’t surprise me to see him get 10 11 12 sacks this season that would be a lot for a rookie not quite historic but borderline historic I think latu is the real deal he does things physically that are very very difficult and can’t be taught quiddy pay on the other side we hope that he benefits from Charlie Partridge gets the other Edge di odango playing for a contract let’s get going you know we haven’t even talked about Samson eom who last year was had his best season and hopefully has another one this year that defensive line has a chance to get to the quarterback a bunch and they’re going to have to because Gus Bradley doesn’t Blitz and so the dline has got to get that work done all right let’s talk about Pierce says that both he and AD Mitchell will push each other in Camp and get the best out of each other look man you know what Alec Pierce could work Forever Until the End of Time to try to develop what ad Mitchell has naturally and he’d never get there that’s just the way it is AD Mitchell looks like a guy like my God how did he contort his body into that position so he could get his hands cleanly on the football it’s kind of awesome and you’re going to see that at 52 he was a hell of a bargain should have gone mid late first round Colts got very very lucky with him I’m I’m glad if he tanked his interviews I’m glad he did because he’s going to be a hell of a player for the Indianapolis Colts um lantu is going to be really really interesting to watch I’m looking forward to getting out there to mini camp tomorrow and Thursday watching him work a little bit Pacers 100% should trade Andrew neard package him with Miles Turner get something valuable back I think Pacers fans would look at a deal like that and say oh my God and it does it depends upon the return like you got to get return for that investment no question must get return but those guys leaving would not necessarily be a bad thing if you want to win a championship you are not going to do it with miles Turner is your starting center if you’re going to win a championship you’re not going to do it with Andrew neard as you’re starting one or starting two it’s just not going to happen Benedict Maan needs to be the starting two Hal Burton’s your starting one at the five I don’t know but I’m tired of watching Miles Turner not knowing what the hell he’s doing defensively or offensively and get shut down on the rebound I I just think it’s crazy to continue for a 10th season to turn this guy loose despite the fact that it like $20 million a year he’s very that’s a manageable contract by the way nard for the next 2 years $2 million each year that’s a bargain now look if you need to keep nart and he’s your backup one two okay you could do a hell of a lot worse for a backup one and two than Andrew neart but I think you got a give to get and if you’re going to move Miles Turner and you want enhancements back that are going to help you win a championship I think you got to include neart I I would rather have him than not but I would rather have maybe what they can get than what they got you with me again it’s about return if you can get a valid return a real basketball player a guy who can defend and score the basketball to pair with halberton and seum and you give up Turner and nart that’s a beautiful day and Kevin Pritchard do it in a minute and then you’ve got you got mathine if you can get a three I’m in right n Smith’s okay and maybe n Smith kind of rounds into form he can defend I like the way he defends and the way he shot the first three months of the season I like that too let’s talk about the sweets at Memorial Stadium on the campus what is that is that a spider good Lord uh love it love that deal and in 5 years you’re going to look at that deal and you’re going to say should have taken advantage of that that was a good deal yeah I like mathine I don’t think matthan is necessarily a ball stopper I I think he’s fine I like Benedict mathine a lot he’s got to come back from the injury that much is true uh but Michael Pitman that’s what worries me we’re going to have to wait until training camp and look and say okay where’s 11 where’s 11 where’s 11 is he got a helmet has 11 got a helmet and then we’re going to know whether Shane Sten was full of crap or not I don’t like thinking that he’s worth a crap um that he’s uh full of crap I like thinking that Shane styken is worth our trust I I like Shane Sten I do and and to this point I trust him but about injuries coaches get really they play fast and loose with the truth man uh we’ll talk to you tomorrow morning breakfast with Kent this went well I think um I think that uh take two was not bad usually take one’s a little bit better a little bit more immediate uh don’t trust the Colts with injury no and 100% and you know what it’s not their obligation to inform us correctly it’s not so what are you going to do I’d rather they did it I don’t know what they gain from not being upfront about injuries but they must think they gained something or they’d
