Braves vs. Nationals Game Highlights (6/6/24) | MLB Highlights

Mitchell Parker it’s now his 10th Big League start and it doesn’t matter who he goes up against it doesn’t matter the situation nothing really seems to intimidate the kid yeah I love it he pounds his own he has confidence in all his pitches you know he’s just learning how to pitch really Al be is retired and now Austin Riley batting second in the order one delivery swung on hit high in the air center field again young started back now coming in has plenty of time to get there this one way up in the air and Jacob young makes the catch two out and nobody on for the Braves on two fly balls to Center the pitch breaking ball swing and a miss struck him out and it’s a one two three and in a good start for left-hander Mitchell Parker former National raldo Lopez on the mound for his 11th start of the Year here it is from Lopez got him swung on and missed able to Showcase that curveball good pitch by Lopez his first strike out of the ball game there are two away there’s Jesse Winker there’s the one-1 pitch on the way that’s drilled out towards right field Anderson over to his left and he catches the hot shot out towards deep right so down go the Nationals 1 two three in the first inning we’re off and running we head to the top of the second no score Matt Olsen climbing into the box down the pitch swing and a miss and Olen is down on an elevated fast ball and Parker has his second strike out and he is looking very sharp here at the start of this one two down Shawn Murphy pitch of the way swung on and looped right side spinning Garcia chases it down to the Outfield grass spins throws to Gallow in time for the out of the the inning is over another fine play by Luis Garcia Jr so Garcia flies to left one away K B Ruiz coming to the plate the righty deals breaking ball popped up Shallow right Al’s going out Anderson coming in and Al’s reaching over the shoulder back to the infield can’t make the catch he’s down to one knee to pick it up and get it back into second it was just out of his reach and so Ruiz has himself a pop fly single in the right field now the batter is Joy manessis onew on the way swung on Miss fast ball 96 and he got that by The Swinging bat of Joey manessis and the second strike out of the ball game for Lopez and the payoff pitch to the plate got him looking for strike three a beautiful fast ball one pitch and one down here in the third that’ll place the bat in the hands of Orlando Aria here’s the 3-1 pitch ground ball Third Base side backhanded deep at third by senzel he plants and he fires it’s a strong throw to Gallow to retire Aria two up and two away nice play no ball is in a strike the pitch to Anderson is hit in the air on the line to left Winker playing deep back onto the warning track makes the catch and Mitchell Parker’s retired nine in a row to start his outing Nats and Braves it’ll be Nick senzel to face Ronaldo Lopez Lopez kicks and fires and’ll Fly ball out towards deep left center field sprinting back that way Michael Harris towards the Gap he’s under it and he will run it down to the warning track Matt Olsson for the second out so CJ Abrams coming off a strikeout in his first AB here tonight one two pitch swung on missed top shelf fast ball Strikes Out Abrams and one down here in the top of the fourth inning so Mitchell Parker has retired 10 straight the 1-1 swing a popup along the first base line it’s playable for Joey Gallow into foul territory back pedaling now back to his right of Step he makes the catch here’s the onew to Ozuna swing a Tapper slowly hit toward third charging into glove senzel and on the Move fires to first and that’s the fourth straight one two three inning for Mitchell Parker Ronaldo Lopez to Face Lane Thomas nothing nothing game bottom of the fourth 32 check swing he’s cooked got him on a good slider and that’s the fifth strike out of the ball game for Lopez and one down here in the fourth inning Nationals had the gamees loone hit that was a Ruiz pop fly single in the second long set here it comes swing a line drive up the middle of base hit into center field wer will hold on at first continues to pile up the hits Winker with a one out single and two down in the inning as Winker keeps it in park at first base Lopez is pitch and a Fly ball out towards right center field Harris and Anderson coming together this is Anderson’s ball and he’s able to charge over to his right make the catch round number three and how about what Mitchell Parker is doing so far here tonight he’s gotten 13 outs on 38 pitches now it’s Adam Duval standing in take a ball low it inside this is going to be ruled a hit by pitch ah so instead of ball one it’s hit by a pitch he’s at first base and is the first base runner of the game well the Braves coming with one out of the fifth inning Parker delivers and a swing in a high pop at a shallow left center field off the bat of Shawn Murphy Coming Out is Young into a slide and he makes the catch for the out until Jacob young using that speed into shallow left center field makes a sliding catch for out number two Duval back to First Parker the check of the runner the pitch swung on slow bouncer up the first Bas line Gallow comes in on the grass has it then turns and goes back to the bag for the unassisted put out and the inning is over sixth inning Mitchell Parker’s allowed one base runner Adam Duval hit by a pitch in the fifth we start the sixth still no score between the Braves and the Nets RC grounded a third his first time and Aria hits one well out towards the Gap at left center field that’ll lay down for a base hit and one hop over the wall a ground roll double for Aria had a good at bat got a fast ball that he drove out towards left Center and hopped that right over the left field wall into the bullpen first hit for Atlanta comes leading off the top of the sixth Orlando Aria but Abrams with a lunging catch for a big out number one 3-1 on the way swing it’s looped in the air to shallow Right Center chasing over his young closing he slides he’s got it what a catch tagging at second Aria he’ll go to third Jacob young Saves the Day streaking over to his left and a sliding grab in the alley for out number two the kicking the pitch swing a ground ball to short Abrams has it juggles it recovers throws to First low Gallow Scoops it and the inning is over Riley slams his helmet down Parker puts up a zero thanks to some defense behind him so it’s nothing nothing with CJ Abrams leading off the bottom of the sixth here’s the 02 and a swing in a drive to right field back in this one goes Anderson to the the warning track looking up it may go and it’s gone CJ Abrams with home run number 10 gives the Nationals a one- nothing lead here in the sixth inning they score first in this pitcher duel an elevated 02 fastball Abrams hits it out and the Nationals have the lead tonight over the Braves well Davy Martinez said this afternoon was just a matter of time here’s Lane Thomas swinging a line drive deep left field this one over Duval way back it goes and they go back to back that one off the back wall of the Atlanta Bullpen Lane Thomas makes it two nothing his fourth Abrams and Thomas go back to back against Lopez he had not allowed a home run since April 34 to third Innings he allows homers to consecutive batters here in the sixth inning tonight Adam dual the batter Ozuna holding it first Adam hit by a pitch in the fifth inning first base run of the ball game and he hits one high and deep to left center field sailing way on back Adam Duvall opens fire it’s a two-run home run to tie the game in the seven and it’s the second time he’s taken Mitchell Parker deep this year and this is a big one that is his sixth home run of the season and hopefully that wakes up the Braves as they had not scored since the ninth inning of Tuesday’s ball game and with two down the Braves have the go ahead run and scoring position for Austin Riley one-1 pitch a Fly ball out towards shallow right center field down for a base hit Here Comes ozy Around Third Base he’ll score Austin Riley dunks one into Right Center the Braves have their first lead of the ball game got a slider was able to just flip it into right center field for the base hit gritty run scored you know two outs against a a dominant pitcher Braves been lacking a bunch of those good to see one again Marcelo Zuna swings in a deep drive towards left center field this one’s disappearing off into the sky and way out of the ballpark a two-run home run by Marcelo Zuna and the Braves surge with two more here in the eighth inning it’s now 52 Atlanta in the eighth ouna jumped all over that pitch 442 ft off the bat of Ozuna exit velocity of 105 and it was a no doubter over the left field wall and two very quick outs of the ninth looking for one more out here’s Joey manessis and the two- two pitch line drive to short backhanded by Aria he’ll fling it to first base and the Braves win game one of this four-game tilt in Washington the Braves come back with a two-run seventh and a three-run eighth and through 60 ball games they’re now 35 and 25 after tonight’s victory over Washington

  1. Good win, some late inning magic to get this one done. Lopez was good with 6 innings 2 runs, and those two were in the 6th, overall great stuff. Bullpen with bummer, jimenez, and iglesias all excellent. Offense woke up in the late innings and homers from Duvall and Ozuna, Ozuna has just been incredible this year, mvp candidate for sure. Sale on the mound tomorrow, let’s go braves. #ForTheA

  2. The future looks bright In Washington. If they can develop some of their top prospects on top of what they already have. The will be good in a few years

  3. Hey wait a minute…ain't we just played a 4 game series?! 😂😂 Anyways, well pitched by both sides, somebody had to break. Tonight it was the Nats, let's see what the rest of this series holds. Until tomorrow, Washington. ✌🏾✌🏾

  4. Notes from the Game:

+ Reynaldo Lopez with ANOTHER SOLID OUTING! 6 Innings of 2-Run, 6-Hit Ball, Walking 1 and Striking Out 7! Unfortunately, he gets ANOTHER NO-Decision, Keeping him at 3-2 with an ERA of 1.85. He's been a Genuine SURPRISE since Joining Atlanta, and I pray he can keep this up!

+ The Bullpen with ANOTHER SHUTDOWN JOB! Bummer, Jimenez, and Iglesias Combine to SILENCE the Nationals over the Final 3 Innings, Pitching PERFECTLY and not allowing a SINGLE Baserunner. Bummer gets the Win in Relief with a PERFECT 7th Inning while Striking Out 1, improving to 2-2 with an ERA of 3.38, while Iglesias gets his 16th Save of the Season, Completing the 9th on JUST 9 PITCHES! An EXCELLENT RESULT!

ROTATION TOTAL: 9 Innings, 2 Runs, 6 Hits, 1 Walk, 9 Strike Outs, 2 Home Runs Allowed.

It took 6 Innings, but the Braves' Offense JUMP-STARTED in the 7th and Proceeded to BURY Hunter Harvey in the 8th!

+ DUUUUVALLL Got the Offense Started in the 7th with a GAME-TYING TWO-RUN SUPER MISSILE INTOTHEBULLPEN! That would be his ONLY Hit, as he finished 1-3. Duvall Clings to a .195 Average, .665 OPS, and 6 Home Runs on the Season!

+ AUSTIN 3:16 GETS THE DECISIVE HIT! 1-4 WITH THE GO-AHEAD, GAME DECISIVE RBI SINGLE IN THE 8TH! Riley holds onto a .232 Average with an OPS of .657!

+ THE BIG BEAR WITH THE CRITICAL BLOW! 2-4 with a Single in the 7th and a TWO-RUN SUPER MISSILE OVERTHEBULLPEN IN THE 8TH! Ozuna Stands in with a .312 Average, 1.000 OPS, and 18 Homers on the Year!

+ OTHER NOTABLES: Albies, Olson, and Arcia earned 1 Hit Each. SHOCKINGLY, NO BRAVE Recorded a Walk Tonight, though Only 3 Braves went down via the K: Ozuna, Olson, and Arcia, and only Once. So PLENTY of Contact was being made, just not resulting in Hits.

+ A GOOD BOUNCEBACK after getting our LIGHTS PUNCHED OUT on the way out of Boston. Washington may be on a Losing Streak, but this is the BEST Opportunity for the Braves to get back on track!

+ With the Mets and Phillies Travelling to the U.K., and the Marlins on Bye, it means the Braves gain a Critical 1/2 Game on Philadelphia, putting them 7 1/2 Games Back of the Phillies, while they now stand 9 Games Ahead of the Mets and Nationals and 15 Games Ahead of Miami.

    TOMORROW:

ROUND 2 OF 4 Between the Braves and Nationals will take place Under the Lights of Nationals Park. Jake Irvin will answer the call for the Nats, Who's coming off a Respectable Performance against the Guardians, in which he earned the win, allowing just 2 Runs on 5 Hits and 1 Walk in 6 Innings of Work.

Meanwhile, CHRIS SALE will take up Battle Stations for the Braves, Who looks to Shake Off a HORRIFIC Start against the Athletics, in which he allowed 8 runs on 9 Hits in only 4 Innings of Work. He Earned 'NL PITCHER OF THE MONTH' Honors after going 5-0 with an ERA of 0.56 in May!

Can Sale and the Braves Make it 3 Wins in the last 4 Games?

Or will Irvin and the Nationals Continue the Painful Cycle for the Bravos?

We Will Find Out at 6:45 P.M. EDT on MASN (Nationals) & Bally Sports Southeast (Braves)!

    SoundFX09, Signing Out!
