Canucks fans don’t know how to feel about THIS…

all right guys just wanted to give a quick reminder that I was the guest on the latest episode of the nuad podcast that released yesterday morning lots of fun to film if you haven’t checked it out already be sure to go do so in the description down below of this video if you want to hear a ton of ridiculous takes that did not exactly age all too well but yeah anyways you don’t want to miss it check it out and now on to today’s video so the Vancouver Canucks are in a very interesting position this off season with two of their most notable free agents being Elias lolm and Nikita zadorov and if you’re asking me what I think is actually going to happen with these two players I do think that the Vancouver kcks are going to resign at least one of them and if I were to bet on who I think is going to stay I’m leaning a little bit more towards Nikita zadorov after hearing the 32 thoughts podcast today where they said that zadorov would actually be willing to take a discount to stay in Vancouver I think they know the number but they’re just working it out so I do think that they will get zadorov done but as for ly Holm though it’s a little bit more complicated cuz yes they did give up a ton to acquire him in the first place and secondly in terms of his performance what we got him for was the playoffs and he was great in the playoffs so I think the feeling is mutual he enjoyed his time in Vancouver and the Canucks like the player so they’re obviously going to take a run at him before he hits the open market which is the smart decision I think they should do that but when it comes to the actual amount of money it could be a little bit of a problem because if you look at the Canuck Center depth right now you have Alias Patterson and JT Miller both players earning above $8 million no team has three centers that make over $7 million and although if you do sign Lin Holm to a contract that exceeds $7 million you would have a competitive Advantage down the middle then you’re likely sacrificing the depth that you would try to be getting in the open market down the wings so so it really comes down to what you prioritize and I think there’s a fine line for the Vancouver Canucks because I’m torn as well on one hand I want to keep lolm but you’ve addressed the need to get a Winger for Alias Peterson and if you overpay for Elias lolm then the question becomes are you going to have enough money left over to be able to actually get someone for him of course there are a couple of variables where it changes the narrative the first thing I’m thinking of is if you move Alias pon to play on the wing permanently and then you just have Elias lolm as the 2C do you explore that option or do you want an 11.6 million player to be able to drive his own line and then just stick lyol permanently in the 3C position another thing is our prospects we have one of the best prospects in the NHL coming up yanan L Kaki you don’t know how he’s going to translate into the NHL because he hasn’t played a game yet but do you put your faith in him to be aias p ‘s number one partner that might be a little bit too much to ask out of a 20-year-old but if we’re being real he has a real shot to make the actual lineup next year so I don’t know obviously it could be a lot easier if we didn’t have so much dead weight on our shoulders but as I said in my last video we don’t have that luxury we’re going to have to deal with the cards that we’ve been given and I want to ask you guys in the comment section below what do you think that the Vancouver conu should do where is the line what is the cap on what a lolm salary should be starting next season there have been reports today that the Canucks will be willing to offer Elias lolm a 7×7 or roughly something around there but even that might not be enough do you go higher than that or do you just tell him to walk that is my question for you all in the comment section below thank you so much for watching I’ll be sure to catch you in the next one subscribe if you’re new peace out and take care

Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov are two big Canucks UFA’s that need deals, but it’s important not too give them too much money. Elias Pettersson needs a winger, we go over all that in the video

  1. I can’t see Lindholm being on the third line while people are still pencilling in Suter in the top 6. Yes we have 3 centers over 7 mil, do they all need to play center every game? No. Lindholm is a top 6 player. If not then he’s the best 3C in the league

  2. You can’t chase sunken costs. If Lindholm’s price is to high as the third center, then you just move on. 7 for 7 seems like a lot to me but maybe that’s just new bar for the NHL now. I didn’t think the Lindholm trade was worth it, and I still don’t. But he did give the, good service in their playoff run. Fans enjoyed it while it lasted.

  3. Get rid Soucy & Hronek. Get rid of Suter, Dries & Blueger. That way you can have Zadorov and Myers. Then you can keep Lindholm cause he was great towards the end of the playoffs and we didn't get to see him play fully. If you get rid of them 2 on D. And then 3 off center position, cause Canucks have a few lines of just centers. Then bring up some talent you drafted a few years ago and stop trading prospects away. But this is only my opinion. I don't expect you all to like it. I don't expect you to get it. But with this, you can free up some cap space to sign Zadorov and Elias and potentially do a proper job bringing up players instead of leaving them down in the AHL or trading them off.

  4. As much as I like Lindholm, if Petey can get back to normal he can fill the void left by him. Blueger is much less and was our best penalty killer in the playoffs. Hronek and Zadorov are priority *in my opinion.

  5. Nah he wants more than 7 million? Take a hike. He was poor all regular season. sure he was good in the playoffs but not point per game good. He wasn't a top 3 player either. He was a top 5 player and that was just in line with expectations not surpassing them. So in other words dude underachieves badly in the regular season than simply does what is expected and we're just supposed to throw money at him? Hell no.

  6. They can sign Lindholm and have Lindholm and Pettersson play hybrid wing/centre on the same line and each alternate to take the face offs on their strong side.

Lindholm did play wing in his first season in Calgary on a line with Monahan and Gaudreau with Monahan as centre for that line. He didn’t play centre in Calgary permanently until Monahan’s injury. That’s when he was bump back to his natural position at centre between Gaudreau and Tkachuk. Backlund was 2C during the majority of the time when Lindholm was in Calgary.

Lindholm would be a nice luxury to have as it is easier mix the lines depending on the opponent we play against. If we play against a stronger/deeper team, we can roll with Miller, Pettersson and Lindholm 1-3C. If we need to load up on offense against lower tier teams, we can have Lindholm/Pettersson as hybrid centre/wing.

If you grab a natural winger in the UFA market to play with Pettersson, you don’t have the option of the hybrid centre/wing option. And if that winger is Guentzel, he is going to cost more than Lindholm.

I am not against signing Lindholm. In a way, Lindholm help fill the void after the departure of Bo Horvat.

  7. Yes sign Zadorov and pull out all the stops to get Necas out of Carolina . Petey needs a bonafide winger for him to succeed . Let Lindholm walk .
