Did The Washington Commanders Find Their Franchise LT? Brandon Coleman

yo what is up guys this Pedro here and today’s video I’ll be talking about Brandon Coleman my expectations for him for this coming season some strengths and weaknesses that he has and does he have what it takes to be the Washington Commander’s next franchise left tackle if you guys are new make sure to subscribe hit that like button and that notification Bell as well so you never miss a video all those things really do help out a ton and also commenting anything go ahead even if it’s negative go ahead it does actually help uh so go ahead and comment whatever you want if you think Brandon Coleman can be a franchise tackle or if you think the Washington commanders should invest even more at the tackle position so the Washington commanders drafted Brandon Coleman this year in the 2024 NFL draft and he is a guy at TCU played tackle played guard and he’s a big guy he’s a big guy so we’re going to go over some information this is him at practice or I think at rookie mini camp yeah May 13th uh rookie mini camp and OT I think this is OTAs actually uh they’re in the bubble there and um you see here here’s another clip this is from OTAs for sure um you see him right there number 74 big guy and he looks like he has the it definitely has the the build to be a left tackle in this league but does he have what it takes we’ll see and I’m going to show you show you some things that I really like about him and why I think he can be a left tackle in this league and a pretty dang good when you see he’s very quick good footwork there and I mean these are against other offensive linemen or maybe defensive lineman but uh no it’s against offensive lineman but uh just showing you guys some clips there from him so you can see a little bit some information about him and so he had a better 2022 season than 2023 he had some injuries and that’s partly why he didn’t have an amazing 2023 season but against the Georgia defense in the 2022 Natty which TCU got absolutely demolished well he had 23 pass Pro snaps and zero pressures allowed so he still held his own against a very very good Georgia defense that had you know jayen Carter Jordan Davis Nolan Smith I mean a bunch of Absolut studs let’s go over some more in I mean he’s also super super athletic his Ras score 9.96 and if I don’t think I mentioned it earlier but he was drafted in the third round 67th overall in the 20124 NFL draft ranked seventh out of 1,583 guards so this R had him as a guard so that’s why he’s a little bit higher than he would be as a tackle but still the numbers are very good uh 40 yard dash time 499 uh you see the 20 yard split pretty good vertical leap 34 in for an offensive lineman that weighs where is where is his weight I don’t know if his weights here but I’ll I’ll show you guys in a second but that is absolutely insane you have a 34 in vertical at his size it says it right here I’m an idiot 313 lbs so you you know could put a little bit of weight on but that’s fine 313 lb 64 uh and to have a 34 in vertical is insane and a sub 540 yard dash is solid as well so you mean he has the athletic tools and he has the frame to be a left tackle in this league and he played left tackle in college he also played guard so he has that versatility but the commanders do see him and I think Adam Peters said this and also Dan Quinn that they think he is a tackle in this league and you know I I know sometimes I say I think a lot it’s just cuz I don’t want to be 100% you know saying that something happened when it didn’t and I got someone was complaining about in the comments before but it is what it is let’s read some information about Brandon Coleman here so here they have him listed as a guard but again the commander see him as a tackle and I do think he can be a very good tackle in this league see his combine numbers we talked about that uh see some of his you know college things so he’s older I don’t what’s the age here I don’t know if they show his age but 2018 was in college 2019 2020 2020 6 years he played six years so actually born in Virginia did not know that spent most of his time in Berlin Germany and moved back to the United States in 2016 so interesting there uh second Team all big 12 Conference this past year started 11 games first four at left guard final seven at left T sorry left tackle but in 2022 honorable mention all Big 12 Conference and started all 15 games at left tackle so he played every game at left tackle I strongly believe he can be a left tackle he does have versatility though in 2021 played Right Guard play left guard 2020 played right tackle so play left guard Right Guard left tackle right tackle but I would play him at left tackle see what you what he can do this year he’s not doing too well then you can have cor luas start left tackle and move Brandon Coleman inside but for me I’m giving him at least a year at left tackle like I’m not saying necessarily start him for a full year but I am not giving up on him as being a left tackle until the next off season so if you see really nothing this year and you’re okay he just can’t be a left t tackle we were wrong okay then in the off season get him to guard and that can’t happen you know Sam Cosby was at right tackle honestly played well but the second season was injured and when he came back there’s a whole rotation with him and uh corneos Lucas I still believe if Sam cosm was playing right tackle he’d be good maybe not probably not as good as he is a guard but that is a switch that happened and he has been playing very well for the commander at guard so it’s something that you know if it doesn’t work out with Brandon Coleman you can try to switch him inside he did play these positions or you know left guard and Right Guard in college so it’s something that can definitely happen for the commanders and but again I would start him off at left tackle uh for sure uh here is some information from duke uh manyweather who is an he works with a lot of these offensive lineman and he is a he does a lot of tape and stuff uh on these offensive line as well uh Brandon Coleman said or this is in the article he says who’s the biggest freak pause among Mayweather’s 2024 group Coleman was the first name he mentioned athletic uh testing wise he’s going to be impressive May uh manyweather said to tell what type of athlete he is I think he could legitimately legitimately have a shot at playing small forward in the NBA has some second round Buzz among NFL scouts over the summer but his 2023 tape was a little up and down as he battled through ankle and the issues despite his injury he started all but one game this season which speaks to his toughness he was really banged up but find a way to get his job done and that’s a characteristic that will translate to the NFL manyweather said uh finding a way to get the job done when not 100% is what Sunday football is all about uh played both foot or tackle and guard in college has a mental makeup to handle either spot the next level but he added that would be a hard to pass on keeping him at left tackle with this type of ability and I agree with that and I’m happy that’s what the commanders are doing think you should always if you think someone can play left tackle the value at left tackle is so much more than guard and it’s so much you know it’s so much easier to find guards than it is tackle so if you can if there’s a chance he can you know be a tackle then play him at tackle and I think that is what they’re going to do so for this year offensive line Looks like Coleman SL luucas at left tackle but ideally Coleman left guard you probably got Alig gry Maybe Ricky strongberg or Braden Daniels can compete for a spot there long shots but there’s a shot Center you got Tyler botes upgrade huge upgrade over last year Sam Cosby at Right Guard and then Andrew Wy at the right tackle so offensive Line’s not great but it’s getting better and you now are starting to get some young guys in there you got Sam Cosby who is Young uh he was here last year Tyler bies is still relatively young and then you got Brandon Coleman who is Young and some other guys as well in raen Daniels and Ricky strongberg that hey And even Chris Paul too I forgot about Chris Paul that maybe one of them could turn into a starter we will see but that is it for today’s video hope you guys did enjoy if you did hit that like button subscribe if you guys are new and turn on that notification Bell so you never miss the video and if you stayed till the end go ahead and comment down Brian orakpo 1. His coach at TCU said he's really good at all OL positions. Has long arms!! Haven't seen a lot of him but what I have is good n his footwork is fast!

  2. I think and hope he can play Tackle in the nfl as well. In college he was a much better tackle than he was a guard. So the problem is, if he does fail at tackle why do we think he would be better at guard in the nfl, which was not the case in college?

  3. With Alligretti and Coleman, i think even if we have 2 guards, that puts us in a VERY good spot as far as Oline because even the cheifs made it work with only a solid interior OL

  4. This is why it's important to be a fan of college football as well as the pros. He was very good as a junior playing strictly LT. He is practically a physical clone of Trent Williams coming out of college. He is an eighth of an inch shorter than Williams with a longer wingspan and the only athletic measurable he was worse was the 40-yard dash. I'm not saying he will be as good as Williams but he has all the tools to be a solid tackle with a Mark May kind of career.

  5. He’s super athletic but it takes more to be a good tackle in the NFL. One thing about Trent Williams, that nobody talks about, is how smart he was understanding defenses and making the correct block on each play. There is a reason Coleman wasn’t a top pick coming out. Hopefully he can develop

  6. Chris Cooley did a film breakdown on him. TCU runs the air raid so he’s exceptional in pass protection, but subpar in the run game. BUT Bobby Johnson is a run game guru so Adam Peters may be onto something.

And I don’t wanna hear any Bobby Johnson slander. Dude got 4 guys off the couch ready to play and beat us TWICE…

  7. Pedro, I, too, have thought about telling you that you say “I think” a lot. The issue is it makes you sound unprepared. If you say “I think the Commanders will win 12 games”, that’s an opinion and ok. But if you say “I think Jayden Daniels had 4 interceptions last year”, it comes across as lazy to the audience. Not being hateful, I watch all your videos.

  8. Why not Right Tackle? Warm him up to playing on the outside in the NFL or have your right side be his home and lock down that side for a few years and draft a LT/Free agent
