UNFORTUNATE VANCOUVER CANUCKS UPDATES… FRIEDMAN SPEAKS ON ZADOROV + ILYA MIKHEYEV TRADE TALK
leave it to Elliot fredman man it’s fredman and it’s Sarah Vey they went out there and had themselves some Scoops that I wanted to talk about in today’s video starting out with this fredman said on yesterday’s Oilers now show he said it’s unlikely that Nikita zadorov is reigning with the Vancouver Canucks he heard the Canucks were not far away from his asking price but it got to a point where neither side was willing to budge even though Zadora was willing to leave money on the table to stay with the Vancouver Canucks and this is not a new idea we’ already seen reports saying that zadorov was willing to take a discount but the question always was what was his initial ask like if zadorov was asking for six but he’s willing to take a discount for 5 and a half then okay that’s a little much if zadorov was already asking for let’s say five and his discount was 4.5 then okay that’s stomach a but 4.5 to 4 you could say that would have been The Sweet Spot if there would have been some sort of a meeting between both sides but the Vancouver Canucks are standing Pat alv and Rutherford are making their stance known that they’re not going to sign somebody that would essentially be a third pairing defenseman to let’s say a 4 and a half to five maybe 5 A5 million aav deal Hughes Susi zadorov in that order if you wanted to swap around Susi and Zadora then okay but still investing that much money into one side of your defense I could totally understand understand whether the Vancouver conu would want to go in another Direction considering the money that zorov could get on the free agent Market being maybe in the 5 and a half to $6 million range too plus with all the foreshadowing everybody talking about what his wife posted on Instagram how they were leaving Vancouver etc etc it kind of feels like this was inevitable but at the end of the day zadorov we acknowledge was a very good player for the Vancouver Canucks in the 2024 Stanley Cup playoffs will never never forget just the Legacy that he had left behind eight points 13 games played four goals four assists such a clutcho producer not really too clutch in the end of the series though against the Oilers but he still had two goals in two games and two assists in those two games as well zadorov was an absolute Beast to start things out against Edmonton and end things off against the Nashville Predators unfortunately though it does not seem like that will continue and maybe it’s for the better honestly like we had said this as well but if the Vancouver conects are going to invest so much money into zadorov you have to make sure that this is the version of zadorov you get not this the playoff zadorov was so good but the regular season zadorov was very so so not too substantial just a regular old guy who happened to be big so let some other team go out there and overpay $6 million a year to zedora for and allow him to maybe make their cap situation a little bit more difficult as the years go on but when it comes to Vancouver doesn’t really seem like that’s going to be a fit here now I also wanted to talk about a different canx player and an update from Frank SRA because if you take a look at sra’s recent trade targets board on June 13th 2024 one of the names on the list is indeed Elia mckv he lands on the trade targets board as the Canuck search for more cap flexibility it’s not elia’s fault that he was a top six forward it was my fault Patrick alen said let’s scroll down there and read past Marner NIS eers olark all the way down to number six because Elia mckv is the six biggest name here on the trade targets board leftwing Vancouver Canucks 29 years old two years remaining on his deal at 4.75 million a year in 2324 mckv had 31 points in 78 games 11 goals 20 assists it’s kind of weird to acknowledge that he even had 11 goals because towards the second half of the season the guy just did not know how to score the GS here’s the Scoop have been working to move MV since shortly after their playoff run concluded they also offered him to teams around the trade deadline after a tough playoff mf’s contract is gumming at The Works in Vancouver’s offseason they can’t more aggressively pursue multiple pending free agents like Lind Holmes Ador of and heric until they can get a clear view of their cap picture mck have just scored one goal in the final 61 games of the Season including playoffs my goodness see that’s why it’s crazy to believe the guy had 11 goals in the season my gosh are you saying that Eli mck had 10 goals in the first 30 games of the year that sounds impossible when you really think about it but he did only score one goal in the final 61 games in the season which is hard to do he had a really good chance in game seven against the Edmonton Oilers but um yeah we’ll not uh talk about that a little bit more as a result teams are asking the Canucks to attach an asset to mck to move him something they are bulking at saying that it takes a full year to recover from an ACL repair and MV should be much better next season will he be I don’t know I know Alvine and Rutherford they like their Speedy guys which is why they got mck in the first place but if this is the pitch hey it takes a full year to recover from an ACL repair then why don’t the Canucks just use him too okay no it’s because he’s too expensive and he’s not good enough I would say some teams are asking for an asset though that’s kind of nuts say imagine if it’s mck and a second or something for future considerations let’s go out there and talk about what exactly it is Mev could be traded for Puck PE the replacement website to cap friendly that everybody’s tossing out there tweeted this out earlier this morning if MV at 50% is considered fair value what is the pick value of the 50% retention using the puckpedia peric cap relief calculator it’s an early second round pick that’s either what the kxs May pay a team to do it or their internal retention cost and attached is a screenshot of their calculator over here the Perry cap relief calculator Elia MV at 50% salary retained and is about a second round pick around 34th overall if you wanted to do the compensation so that’s a very interesting model to go out there and bring up but if it is the case here then Mev in a second seems like it might be able to get it done who really knows if you trade mckv away at 50% salary retained then maybe you get a second in return is that how it works I’m not really too sure but this is all in replying to Matt Sakara saying that the Canucks may have to retain salary given his 60 plus game outage but they should not part with assets to get off of that contract so instead of trading away mck at full salary with an asset would you rather half that McKay of money spend 50% of it yourself and then not have to trade away an asset in exchange it’s a really interesting thought process but of course it opens the door to some pretty interesting trade ideas some of these teams might be interested in I don’t know maybe waiting away and getting themselves some extra cap space but for MV this is a guy who definitely does not show off well in a Vancouver uniform he will find himself probably on the market for the next few days and according to Sarah Val that seems to be the scoop here now one more thing that I wanted to talk about before we ended off this video this is what Noah strangman out there and tweeted out in 2122 El mov was 95th percentile in top speed 95th percentile in speed burst and he had a 14.3% shooting percentage now 95 percentile means he’s in the top 5% I’m pretty sure what that means because in 23 24 he lowered himself to the top 21% or 31% excuse me in top speed and 30th per in speed burst 7.5% shooting percentage so he haved his shooting percentage and he reduced himself in terms of his overall importance with the skills that everybody says that he has mb’s number one asset is his speed he’s fast he’s got these bursts he was in the top 5% in the NHL in 2122 with these bursts but this previous season he really reduced and was no longer as effective he had lost his speed and he stopped getting lucky and his Effectiveness crashed it’s almost as if he tore his ACL or something yeah so let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about Elia mckv being on the market and the Canucks officially trying to trade him away what are your thoughts about Nikita zadorov likely not resigning in Vancouver via Elliot fredman this is going to open the door to some very interesting conversations folks because both zadorov and mckv both look like they are not going to come back to Vancouver let me know your thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this v99 and bye

We’re talking about Vancouver Canucks d-man Nikita Zadorov, and how Elliotte Friedman mentioned it’s not looking likely that he re-signs. We’ll also talk about the trade rumours surrounding Ilya Mikheyev.

Boooooo
As much as it hurts, paying more than 3mil to 3rd pair guy is too much imo. It might give opportunity to youger player like EP if they feel he is ready or get some good solid piece for lower price and cap space get guys to other spots in lineup
Friedman updates carry no weight. He is paid to say things, when there isn't anything to be updated- he just says anything for the chance of getting something right. "There hasn't been a signing for this player? Must be _____ reason"
Big mistake not keeping Zadorov. For the most recent playoffs, their lack of scoring cost them the series. If they make the playoffs again they’ll be crushed, beat up, and run out of the playoffs.
We may not get the cup, but at least we'll have cap space.
ZADOROV GREAT 4TH DEFENSE!!!
they make way too much. I am so sick of this
I would trade Mikheyev at 0% retained for a bag of practice pucks…….fair value.
Friedman running his mouth of to get people talking about Friedman running his mouth off is what Friedman gets paid for. I'll believe it when Zadorov signs for another team, and I'll pass it off as Friedman running his mouth off to get people talking about Friedman running his mouth off if Zadorov resigns with the Canucks. He's not even available for other teams to start talking deals with him until after June 30 has come and gone, and there's a lot of time for The Canucks and Big Z to come to a deal between now and then. Same goes for Lindholm, Joshua, Hronek (seems unlikely as greed may have blinded him) and so on.
