The #ChicagoCubs bullpen blew another game. That’s the 15th blown save of the season. And the offense? In order to score, they hit 3 singles, and then bunted 3 times in a row to score 2 runs. At least #CraigCounsell realizes how bad his offense is and took matters into his own hands by calling for the bunts. #PatrickWisdom laid one of those bunts down. Kap doesn’t understand why this guy is still on the roster. He’s not a major leaguer. You have guys hitting well at AAA, why aren’t they coming up?

As for the #bullpen, #MarkLeiterJr was the reliever who blew it tonight. He gave up 3 runs in two-thirds of an inning. He blew a great start by #JustinSteele. Steele went 6 innings and gave up 0 runs. He got pulled after 6 and looked exhausted.

  4. Why the hell is CJ Edwards, Porter Hodge, and Canario still in AAA? You preach that improvements will have to come internally but you don't even promote the players that can potentially help the major league team.

  6. This team scored two runs tonight on bunts.😆😆😆😆 That’s how laughably bad this offense is. But guess what? Jed refuses to try something new by not calling up prospects (Canario/Davis/etc.) who almost certainly can do no worse from the minor league system that he is so proud of… just like he refuses to fix his dog 💩 bullpen that probably would have a hard time holding a lead against a JUCO team. These relief pitchers are absolute pushovers. It’s negligent that Jed & co. entered the season thinking this bullpen was acceptable in the major leagues. He’s lucky the owner is just as much of a spineless moron with a loser’s mentality.

    Jed’s inaction and inability to address weaknesses — both in the offseason and during the season — will soon sink this team for good. It’s abundantly clear right now that he doesn’t have what it takes to build a winning team. I’ve seen enough.

  9. KAP: “Light Me Up” Leiter gets lit up at Tropicana Field. Why is he still on the roster? Busch was out by five feet, but Cubs score on the dropped ball. It’s not small ball, KAP, it’s sad ball when you have no hitting whatsoever and must resort to bunting. Question, and I’ve asked this before, when are you going to turn your ire towards Morel who is every bit as inept as Wisdom and could have easily been the player you were vehemently denigrating tonight? He plays every day and occasionally hits a HR because he swings at everything including the chandelier. Tonight he was true to form striking out 50% of his at bats and two ground outs. Yes, bring up Canario for Morel. Wisdom should have been gone last year. Morel is fundamentally not strong enough to play in the majors. He has more errors than Wisdom and couldn’t play OF last year and can play IF this year: Morel has already made eight errors, and his -8 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and -11 Outs Above Average (OAA) both rank last among all third basemen. And you can’t bat him as DH with his .205 average, so you think maybe he should take some time off at Iowa along with Wisdom? And tomorrow we can talk about the gaping chasm Chicago has at catcher. The season is slipping away, if it hasn’t already gone down the drain. I think by All Star break the Cubs will be out of contention.

  10. The cubs bullpen is the reason why the starting pitching for the cubs is underrated. They can’t get wins because the offense has been horrible and the cubs are giving up runs in the later innings because of bullpen issues.

  11. Exactly right. The Cubs brass are laughing at their fans as they take them for granted.
    Somehow if the Cubs are sellers, they would probably get better. This is currently a dead team.

  12. There’s pressure on the starters AND the bullpen because the Cubs can’t score runs.
    Period. I don’t know what’s wrong with all of them, but no one can hit a fastball down the middle. Choose your velocity. They can’t hit a fastball in the zone. Why???? NONE of them can. Watch ‘em. All they can hit is mistake breaking balls or change-ups.I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s been going on almost a whole month!! A team slump like this? You have to take action!!
    Some kind of action…anything. You’re not going to “grind” your way out of it without losing the whole season and torturing everybody while you’re doing it.
    Fastballs down the middle…foul ball…every single time!! Incredible.

  14. It’s obvious the two best players in Chicago play on south side. Robert and Crochet. Easily. Why not go get them. Your prospects are over hyped. Crow Armstrong will maybe hit 4 home runs a year lol. Bast south of 150. Seriously?

  19. Counsell got the best out of the Brewer players, unfortunately he’s getting the very worse out of almost every Cub. Kap I’ve been tweeting this for 2 years. Patrick Wisdom was a guy who Hoyer signed a few years back to fill his roster after he traded the core away. He hit a few HR’s and the Cubs brought him back to a rebuilding club in 22. But I have no clue why he’s still on this team. He can’t hit, he’s no longer hitting HR’s or hitting LHP and he’s never been a very good fielder anywhere he played. If the farm is as good as Hoyer likes to tell everyone, WTH is Canario not up here and Wisdom GONE ALREADY? Does Hoyer pay attn to Iowa? Canario is crushing the ball. His ML team can’t hit . It makes too much sense to promote Alexander yesterday! Fire Jed Hoyer already. This BP is a disgrace!! 15 blown saves!!!!!!

  20. Been saying it for two years straight get rid of Wisdom he isnt a serious player on a decent team. I dont even have the energy to type it out again. Oh gee whaddya know, the guy whose numbers have been declining for three straight years with red flags all over the place….wow you mean this year hes gonna hit .179 by the end? What a shocker! But hes cheap OPS they say! Yea, for two weeks per season and is absolutely worthless the rest of the time.

    But nope, dont resign Candelario or anything.

  21. Thanks Kap! It’s so disheartening to watch this ball club right now. Patrick Wisdom has got to go. What the hell does Jed see in him. Did we think he was going to be a second coming of Kris Bryant? So frustrating with 15 blown saves. I don’t even know what to say anymore. Disgusted.

  23. It feels like every Cubs roll of the dice in the off-season came up snake eyes. And this is what they look like WITH Cody Bellinger, who probably won't be with them beyond this season. Look, Patrick Wisdom was that placeholder guy you needed to play 3rd base during the rebuild after Kris Bryant was traded away. If he's still being penciled into Cubs starting lineups, that's a problem. It means they never completed their "rebuild."

  27. They got rid of Kyle and kept Patrick because he’s cheaper. Meanwhile Kyle is doing well enough to remain on a better team. The Cubs are currently in 4th place and they will be in last place after this weekend, just I said before. I know there aren’t any stars on this team, but I didn’t think they would be this bad. Every year I look forward to watching games and I don’t have that in me right now and it’s disappointing to say the least. This team is on a sinking ship without life jackets on.

    It's crazy how that 2016 team just broke apart and the Cubs went right back to losing.

    I just think it's crazy how every player on that 2016 campaign went somewhere else to be a star.
