68 points uh in the championship season eel had a couple of fewer points but he was plus 26 overall which I didn’t realize until I did a little bit of a deep dive he tied his career high with 11 Power Play Goals uh on this past season here’s a guy now he had seven game-winning goals as well and you know the thing about IO plain and simple is that he needs to be more of a high volume shooter remember how he started off this season remember he was averaging like six shots on goal a game and in a span of three games I think games two three and four on the season he had a total of 23 shots on goal he has to average six to s shots on net per game in my estimation for him to be successful six to seven shots per game I’m curious who uh who leads uh the the league and shots per game I’m really curious to see if that’s a sustainable number Tony um but yeah I mean listen eel shooting more is never a bad thing I think a lot depends on who’s going to be on his right wing next year of course too um you know someone like Mitch marter who could score 100 points and get you know 60 65 assists might be kind of cool to see if eel how eel handles that or on the flip side if uh a Patrick Kane in some way somehow is on that line how would that affect things because Kane obviously is a really good scorer and a good sniper um if it’s none of those players let’s just say the top line is bran barbashev and eel then what happens does he get 68 points is that you know is that a fair a fair um number to hang for him I don’t know um eel shooting more I I kind of pushed back a little bit as you were starting there shooting yes maybe being a little bit selfish at times yes but I mean 37 assists 39 assists 42 assists back in his Buffalo days 54 assists 39 assists topped off uh 36 goals in Buffalo in 201920 and actually was a plus five That season too which uh didn’t happen too often in his Buffalo career he was normally minus 25 -3 etc etc so to see him go to a plus 26 in Vegas but then shift down to a plus4 is something that’s I guess somewhat interesting um shooting more maybe I think it really depends on who’s going to be on eichel’s line next year but I also liked it because when he returned he took away a lot of those shots that Vegas bjor uh was getting so that’s what he did as well he gobbled up a lot of those shots uh it’s been a while since I’ve taken shots at him uh the team tail spinned right when eiko was out uh he was out a couple of months this season needs to be healthy to say the very least he was a part of the what was it nine golden surgeries this past season uh hurt in the uh the Boston game that’s the game where his blade came off and then he came off the ice and then he went back out and his knee just gave out so he had knee surgery uh there oh I’m sorry lower body injury he had we can’t say we can’t tell you what the injury was McKinnon had I’m looking at shots per game leaders now McKinnon this season was 4.94 shots per game six to seven for eel needs to just be selfish I’m tired of assist I mean skating around circles all that get to that get to that circle on the left side and just fired away just he had 11 Power Play Goals and he was so tentative at times yeah but this is going to get interesting in a second pasta second place 4.6 Austin Matthews third 4.56 Jack Hughes Hughes yeah 4.42 Jack eel 4.41 so I mean is fifth in the entire NHL average shots per game that’s hard to believe that’s hard to believe well he he went through these right but he did exactly what you told him to do Tony just didn’t know it just more high volume more just be more selfish that’s the only thing I’d like to see out of VI gate and he does need to stink and win in the faceoff Circle remember we had that whole discussion there maybe we could have put an over under on Faceoff percentage I mean instead of what was he I think he was up 45 and change up 0.1% I think something like that he was he was he was up 1% I mean listen we’re we’re we’re we’re we’re we’re being fair but we’re also being a little negative on eel I mean you look Petty we’re no we’re being petty yeah Petty’s fair I mean that that’s definitely fair but I mean he’s I think it’s you not me um eel’s doing the shots that you want per game we I I had no idea if you would have told me to pick a number one through 100 where I think eel landed I might have said 76 top 10 in shots never I I didn’t even didn’t cross by top five number five that didn’t cross by number five and shots taken on that and I think he could be more selfish and be more productive I do but that’s also the the Buffalo version Look come on man He Cheats his stick is like two feet longer than any other player on the ice you are being petty that’s kind of petty that was bad uh seven points seven games in the playoffs this season he’s been a peak performer in the playoffs 33 points in 29 playoff games for Jack geel so yeah I mean listen when the been great he almost won of course it Marshall stole it from him there for the K Smite or they would call it the Connie Smite and all these other Petty names jez um yeah I mean listen eel when the playoff lights turn on I mean he’s weighed his whole career to be on a playoff team and then of course he comes to Vegas the first season granny only played a a handful of games and was injured for most of those games with a broken thumb so eel definitely uh wanted that taste of the playoffs and he’s definitely performed performed really well uh better than a point per game player and again it’s it’s a lot of questions I know I hung 68 points for his over under um that also equates to a point in 92.6 93% to round of his games next year so can he sustain that number I I think eel maybe goes slightly higher just trajectory I’ve got 75 a hook on my projections I mean you and I were both close to like 80 or 90 last year we 80 or 90 yes that’s exactly where we were a season ago and again if he has a healthy season not on the on the bench there for two months not upstairs eating hot dogs in the Press Box with Phil kessle then this guy definitely could have been right there yeah I mean 76 points is his average using a full season at uh .926 points per game so 75 seems to be a realistic number 75 on a hook we’ve got to no it’s the hook defitely and actually you should get a little you should get a little uh the over on that should actually be a slight minus based on his trajectory I’ll take the over I’ll take the over again like I usually but we don’t know who his linemates are going to be no and that’s fair um barbashev will probably be one of them that’s fair well we don’t know we don’t know of course we don’t know it’s it’s eel might get trade who knows I doubt that highly so there’s listen the other thing to look at I mean it’s only a two Point difference but eel went from 66 to 68 points year-over-year but he did in four less games and eel traditionally coming off of an injury has been a little bit of a slow starter so it’s not that he only played 63 games last season it’s that he played 63 games and probably needed seven or eight of those games once he came back to get his footing back it was a lower body injury so obviously that’s not too far from the truth right there so if eel can have you know a 78 Game season and 80 game season he’s uh he’s been right around that number a few times in his career 70 is probably the more likely number but if he can be between 70 and 75 games he could certainly get really close to that 75 Point number I’ll definitely take over 68 next season 73 is probably the number oh we can get a middle man can move a little oh he’s going over 75 points this upcoming season I didn’t realize he had 11 game-winning goals here’s the line I got the line right here what’s more E’s points total or Mark Stones games played I’m taking Mark Stone games played no no take the under well he’ll be platooning with stone Resurgence he’ll be platooning and Kane will be platooning uh in the lineup this season you have told me that there’s a possibility that I could be watching a team in three months that has Jack K Patrick Kane Mark Stone I mean gez let’s get Dave pan back out there maybe Jonathan Taves will want to come uh you know who’s coming you know who’s coming back I think Teddy bler he’s AE Brandon about Brandon sad going you don’t think Teddy for vgk Tony that’d be a fun put Park that one park that one okay three and a hook I like that I like that that’s topic actually always got to put a hook on there uh soas this is H is it good value do you think to take vgk on the come they’re at plus 12200 for next season no I mean to be honest think they’re gonna make the playoffs I think they’ll be in the playoffs I I think I think next season emulates this season a little bit where there’s going to be pockets of good hockey and hopefully the team’s going to come together and make a deep playoff run um but I think next season is going to go down more of maybe not a rebuild situation a transition transition year a yeah transition is a good word to use because the core is going to be there for you know three four more years and with McMan who knows what else is going to happen so transition to uh you know vgk 3.0 I guess I don’t know what the number is but a transition to a team that’ll be a viable cup Contender maybe in the 25 26 Season so 12 to one I mean is that the right number I don’t know I mean there’s so much that’s going to happen um honestly if marcheso goes and vgk doesn’t get a marquee type player to replace him those odds are probably going to go up a little bit maybe get 13 14 15 to one instead so if you’re about shopping for the best number I would wait because I don’t see a path to marasa R turning I don’t um we talked about Patrick Kane in that situation I I think whatever happens in the off season it’s going to be a player in that three to four million dollar range and then a couple comp comp complimentary pieces like we talked about like we both like Dakota Joshua or I mentioned bargain finds like Oscar Olson and players along those lines so and Teddy bler and Teddy Teddy BL If Teddy bler comes the ODS go to plus 900 though so you want to be ahead of that one if that’s going to happen Okay so you’ve got uh Florida these are according to FanDuel by the way Florida is plus 900 uh Carolina a shade higher plus 9950 the Avalanche and the stars are also at plus 950 Edmonton plus a th000 the devils in vgk are plus 1200 the Rangers 1300 3,100 is my find for Nashville if you’re gonna take Nashville take them now 26 million still left in cap space watch out for this team I mean Boston plus 2200 Vancouver plus 2,000 2000 2000 right Vancouver yeah Winnipeg scares me because they’re they’re they’re they’re a playoff ghost Mitch martyr not a playoff ghost Winnipeg is the playoff ghost once the first round comes um Los Angeles Kings they’re speaking of they’re in such a weird spot right now I think we’re at the point where we finally start counting Tampa out although when you say that you never know and Toronto is Toronto a plus 1600 I’m I’m never going to believe in Toronto as long as I’m alive I don’t think because they’ve done nothing to prove it otherwise but on the second page of the list that you sent me Vancouver plus 2000 Boston plus 2200 or even the flyer on Nashville plus 3100 I like those odds I like that number and if you don’t mind your money being tied up for the entire season there’s going to be good hedge Equity once the playoffs come I mean if Nashville you take Nashville plus 3100 Nashville qualifies for the playoffs you have 31 units to hedge with and make money on and Nashville most likely is going to be an even money situation when the playoffs start maybe a slight Underdog but you can still get your your bet back and then some and make money either way yeah did you notice I just said the other day you know they’re going to be here the Predators they’re going to go to the eagle show and then as soon as we got off the air well you okay there brother okay as soon as we got off the air within 10 minutes they announced the Eagles for the playoffs I can hedge out in free roll if they can you know make it to the second and third and possibly the Stanley Cup Final of course so that the way I’m playing that right there like we’re not going was was that clown name Vegas Dave who he he bets every future there is and then says oh look at me I was right that’s not the that’s not the approach that I would take with this my Approach would be uh simply have one or two teams that I think will qualify for the playoffs like a Vancouver like a Boston like a Nashville Nashville scares me the most but Vancouver Boston seem to be pretty fair situations to qualify for the playoffs and then you debate if you want to hedge in the first round or even better you wait and see who’s got home ICE you maybe go do in the second game so you can Edmonton flid if I’m Edmonton I think I’d come in loose yeah I mean Edmonton’s got pressure but not nearly as much as Florida and you mentioned Bowski um I actually jumped down with Ken last night up I think uh the math is 35 goals which equates to 3.8 goals against in the Stanley Cup Final now an 8 to1 game a 9 to1 I think there was a seven game a seven goal game in their last series against vgk and a five so I mean I get it it’s skewed a little bit but this is all of a sudden stuff that creeps into his mind and goalies are the biggest head cases there are that works for them and that works against them uh they’re Their Own Worst Enemy I think any goalie will tell you that I’m not telling you anything that no one doesn’t already know already place kickers essentially yeah place kickers closer closing pitchers uh Chuck okay that’s good Prett Prett so you know the point is I mean let’s just say Edmonton scores on the first shot of the game or they score one of the first couple shots of the game or on a goal on a that’s what I was gonna say a fluky goal in the first few minutes of the game this could really change a lot of the series and you know it it’s it’s interesting how we’re talking about this like this isn’t a 3 to1 Series that was a we’re we’re we’re sound like it’s a 22 Series right right now which is interesting and I think that’s the respect that Edmonton’s earned I mean they’re a great story this year they went from uh from being right in the celebrini uh Lottery sweep Stakes to uh it’s June 18th and there’s three wins from the Stanley Cup finals so it’s been a fun ride to watch and it’s unfortunate vgk isn’t there I think vgk probably could have been the better team if they would have had chemistry and no injuries and everything else that we heard about un Locker clean out day but the reality is Edmonton’s there and uh I want drama I at least want a sixth game because there’s a sixth game you might get a seventh game so Alberta oh we will we’ll get a seventh game because Florida will leave the day of the game and their flight will be delayed like three hours and they’ll barely make it there for faceof time so again like they were having like a dinner or something too they’re eating a lot oh my goodness uh so so I have to go back to the Edmonton Journal which is the sports Bible for me uh at playoff time here uh so Edmonton right they had one three-game losing streak this past season and what did they do this is what tells me perhaps they’re still alive they then come back they reel off eight straight games oh no I think twice they lost three games the second time they had the 16 game win streak so if they get hot Chris I mean at the right time and I’m starting to see a little shift there I’m not saying it’s going to happen I know I’m Clair voyant on this show an awful lot but I’m not saying it’s going to happen but I think the chances are pretty good that Edmonton at least can steal a game tonight and get this series back to Edmonton I don’t care if it goes seven I want to see this go back to Edmonton uh for at least one final game uh for this season Evan Rodriguez says his team will be better prepared uh Edmonton will be the desperate team and well Florida said that they didn’t match the desperation that’s what Paul Maurice they did not match the desperation of this Edmonton Oilers team and then one final thing that I stole from this news article um and I wish I had again Edmonton Journal Ava Staples gotta be Staples it wasn’t Staples it was someone else okay um yeah they have more than one writer at that newspaper uh so so Duncan Keith your guy Keith of course yes so he’s in development right he’s in development uh with the Oilers organization I went Canadian for you so he spoke to a number of Oilers right before that last game and he was talking about the situation in Chicago where his team was down three nothing no to Vancouver they were down in 201 Vancouver year year after they won their first sty cup correct they’re down three nothing they did not want to be embarrassed that’s what he told his his this team now the oiler team and uh they came came back they rallied down three nothing and they lost in game seven and uh they over time 2011 over time there you go yep okay but in any event tonight we’ll have an overtime game and this is the game perhaps that ends on goalie interference if the series is over the goal will count they’re going to count the goal uh but in any event he was just talking about building momentum and how important it is to again play with I guess a lot of Pride and attention here when it comes to this time of the season so hopefully it resonated with the players I think it did prior to the last game can that continue tonight that’s the big question I think um Patrick Sharp if I remember that game correctly had a really good overtime chance I thought I was going to end it as well and thought they were GNA climb the hill and uh they didn’t climb sorry whatever they have in Vancouver so we talked Tony um real fast I know we’re starting to go a little bit over here but we talked when it was a three nothing series I think it was minus 3,000 so you got a wager $3,000 to win a $100 bill on Florida to win the series or Plus ,800 at the time on vanc on Edmonton to win the series what I don’t know if you’ve looked or not but what do you think the line is right now how much did that one game shift the line I have not I have not looked but I’m going to say it’s plus remember the other day I said it was two nothing and and Edmonton I think was plus around 400 to come back and I said H I would take them I would take that right now because I think they’re going to come back in this series at least some but right now your question is it plus a thousand or less it’s well minus no it’s less it’s Edmonton’s only plus 700 and isus 1100 interesting it’s still good value B shift still good value it’s it’s better they’ll have a better uh showing tonight than the Mavericks did last night yeah I mean listen if you like if I would if you if you’re making a bet on Edmonton to come back the better bet is actually McDavid on the K Smite which is also plus 700 they’re both the same but I think McDavid can win the con Smite if this goes six games and and McDavid gets to like 43 44 points so if you like Edmonton to win the series mcdavid’s winning the K Smite end of story you might as well take a chance with McDavid on the K SMI because you could get you can still win your bet with Edmonson losing the series okay uh one final note there for me I said Jaylen is my MVP I got uh met with a lot of sass last night and I said this in the fourth quarter was a basketball game last night yeah and everyone’s like no Tatum Tatum Tatum and then Jaylen Brown MVP come on give me a break and then uh the other thing too real fast was the team in Tahoe the uh you know the mascot’s going to be Tessy the whatever Tessy something um up there for the uh the night monsters but no official announcement yet yesterday Savannah ghost pirates announcing their new affiliation is with the Florida Panthers they are such sellouts whoever if Edmonton wins the cup then uh next season it’s going to be Edmonton it’ll be Edmonton next season we appreciate do Canadian teams go with ECHL teams I honestly don’t know do what now do Canadian teams actually partner with ECHL franchises for Affiliates or they go with like not sure te like WHL OHL the Q not sure but you know another question here before we depart here I know we’re getting winded another question someone had asked me a really good question yesterday so does vgk you know within the ECHL system do those players transfer over from the team with the night monsters so does vgk have the rights to that team and those players so that do the players from Savannah move to Tahoe or do they start a new this is like an expansion team they’re have an all new roster right that’s that’s what I said yes well there’s no yes or no it is yes or no it is yes and no because why you have players that were drafted by vgk who have vgk contracts those players will follow the vgk affiliate like Joe Fleming is a perfect example um Jordan pirne Isaiah sevil wherever he’s bouncing around right now those players will transfer over but lesser ECHL players who do not have NHL contracts will stay with Savannah okay so that’ll be interesting to see how many players do transfer yeah it’ll be the Flemings it’ll be Seville it’ll be papir like those assuming they under contract Tessy the something man come on it’s like a monster that’s gonna I think that we the first or last I don’t even know I I have no idea I’m just making stuff out but I know nice Arena probably
