FOX Sports’ retro broadcast of Giants vs. Cardinals at Rickwood Field | MLB on FOX

and so we welcome it back here to 1954 television 70th anniversary of the catch 1954 World Series game one that game was tied at two in the eighth inning Cleveland had Runners at first and second Vick warts hammers that ball we talked about how and won the World Series in a sweep so I get what we’re doing here this is how the game was shot yes okay and this is how it sounded wow I mean had a little more old timey voice to it which I’m not even going to try on national TV right now but you get the point top of the order for the Giants here and Brett wisley is going to take a walk to start the inning so I’m sure we’ll get this answer because you know I like asking questions to learn something I to give you something every week of how we remember Willie one of the defining defensive Clips in any clip in baseball history you think they had the split screen in 54 with the they did we’re we’re told they did okay with a dissolve in the middle this is all authentic almost big swing for the Giants in this game your mind we’re uh TV’s not broken TV’s not broken the antennas the rabbit ears 643 double play so that was 70 years ago what’s it going to be like 70 years from now are we going to be like able to be down on the field virtual reality to go this is a 1954 replay I know that ring him up really had the movement on my breaking ball I wanted can you pull that one up come on now it’s ball three three and two on Patrick Bailey and a 5-3 game here in the fifth Palante kicks and fires and Bailey grounds it foul you know only one thing I wish the umpires would have brought back the oldtime chess protector to really give it the flavor where he put that big old pad in front of him and sat right directly behind the catcher now the technology allows them to pick aide and obviously equipment is different this ball hit hard to right field Burleson’s going back on it in front of the wall he’s got it and for fans of Modern Baseball and the way the game looks these days we got good news for you we got color back yeah we’ll be back to rickwood after this la [Music]

  1. Up next…..

Cover the Mets on a Saturday Night Game Of The Week. In honor of the 55th anniversary of their first World Series win, broadcast a full inning in 4×3 Standard Definition with White font lettering graphics ala 1969 NBC Sports!😂

  2. Cool look though this is way higher depth. Also there is not a single example of split screen from the 50s broadcasts to be found anywhere yet announcer blindly claims its authentic 😂

  3. Firstly, the commentators could have taken a shot at doing a straight play by play including calling balls and strikes. A little snappy dialogue would not be horrible. But I also want to say that I enjoy watching this broadcast much more than the modern one with all of the close-ups and that mines us for emotions that don't necessarily exist. This is a much cleaner way to watch a game. Much more baseball and much less personality.
