getting you ready for Cubs and Giants game two of the series uh Joey is running the ones and twos Ryan Herrera I believe is back at beautiful historic Wrigley Field the live YouTube chat is up and running I see our guy Gary is there and uh we’re still recovering from the numbness of last night’s loss but people are sign the Cubs made a trade today the Cubs made a roster move today and Justin Steel’s on the mound well no I’ve never heard of the guy that they traded for just before you said and I’m not sure about the guy they called up but just before you said all that I was like Wow Luke’s Gone full positive he’s back Captain positive that’s what they call me this is the first time I’ve smiled in 50 days that’s a lie but this the first time I’ve smiled in the last 24 hours last 40 games I believe the socks have the worst record in baseball and the Cubs have the second worst something like that Chicago deserves something like that you know what’s messed up though is the fact that the Cubs are still only like two games out of the Wild Card see C there’s Captain positive right there you you almost ripped your shirt off and there was the captain positive logo right on your chest I’m positive or I’m on the expanded playoff format that MLB implemented a few years ago you decide I don’t care either way you shouldn’t have this many teams under 500 thinking they can still make the playoffs yeah that’s too many that’s too many to be fair they are five under it’s not like they’re 15 under but it feels like they’re 10 under sure yeah well they have been playing yeah under 10 under five or yeah 10 games under 500 baseball over the last what 50 days or whatever so like I yes but I’m ready to be HT again tonight folks speaking of Scott in the live YouTube chat says worst way to lose tonight I’ll go first steel goes eight Innings scoreless and they blow a six-run lead in the ninth well that would that would be worse than last night that would be worse last night was slightly predictable at a point right all the losses once the little things started to happen it was it was almost like watching the Bartman game from that point on like other things you knew the other things were going to happen not because of what he did you just knew as L penelo used to call Cubby Cubby occurrences were on the way yeah and when you have a team that’s not playing well or living up to expectations cubby occurrences have a way of coming back into our lives yeah with a little stretch sure they didn’t exist yeah they’re back cubby occurrences are back last place dead last but if they win the next two games and perhaps the Pirates and reds lose we’re right there in the middle of things how tonight I’m such a last night last night was so bad because it was like almost losing to those two games to the white socks or this time you lost it I mean the team literally Al dropped a didn’t drop a pop-up they looked at the ball drop out of the sky in the infield mhm and that was going to impact the final score and you still couldn’t take advantage you still couldn’t take advantage of it so Mike tochman got hurt in the game Left groin strain 10day injured list as expected I guess depending on who you asked we guessed last night I said so is this is Canario finally going to get his chance is the redot bat of Alexander Canario finally going to come because we we we realized that there was no way to really bring him up right M you had enough outfielders you had PCA you had talkman and you had your three starters so it’s like how many outfielders do you want to carry well sure enough it’s not it’s not Canario no well it’s and I’m not to be honest with you I wasn’t even surprised by it like but Cody what what is Master Bon going to give you like you’re how is he going to help you win how is he going to help pull you out of this like at least Canario at least if you bring up Canario maybe you have a chance of this guy comes up and slugs a couple home runs and you catch a rookie bat at the right time and he he carries you for a couple games what’s Master bony going to do nothing he’s going to sit on the bench and he’ll get some random ass a bat in three to 5 days in a high leverage spot and he’ll probably strike out isn’t isn’t here so Master bony doesn’t have to be here yes I just like yes like I’m not disagreeing with you at all I’m and the only reason I said that I’m not surprised is like this is how the organization has acted the last two years they don’t they’re never aggressive with any of their their prospects yeah they’re they’re never bold they’re they’re not bold on the trade market they’re not bold with free agent signings they’re not even bold with their own roster man like that’s the the only thing the only good thing that comes of not calling up Canario Luke is that PCA is going to play every day well he better right well that’s what I’m saying like he will he better but like this is this is like being stuck in a prison cell and deciding CLS in prison yes I’m in a prison cell and I’m going to get out of Alcatraz in 30 years by scratching with my fingernails away at the cement and sooner or later I’ll dig a hole or you could have your buddy who owns dynamite in a truck try to blow up the wall and get you out on a speedboat yeah I’ll say this I would have loved to see the Cubs be a little aggressive with Owen Casey and I would have preferred Owen Casey over Canario because at least he’s a left-handed bat and you it it it would have been one of your top prospects you’re being a little aggressive like Canario yes I know he’s been hitting well in Iowa whatever he’s also he’s also been up multiple times and I know like the Ops is high and this that he’s also striking out like 40% of the play appearances that he has feels like he swings for the fences every single pitch he gets so I wasn’t necessarily upset they didn’t call up Canario I’m more upset about the fact that they didn’t call up anyone that anyone would have actually been surprised to see no one’s surprised no one is surprised that Master bony is here if anyone is surpr surprised that Master bony is here you haven’t been paying attention the last two years man so he’s going to sit on the bench like Ryan is saying in the chat right now and that means PCA Bellinger and Bush will play every day in some way that’s okay yeah that’s okay but in my eyes it’s like all right well at least tff canari on the roster and I know people would complain that he’s not playing but he might give you a pinch hit that can change the game at the end of a game yeah you’re you’re struggling to score runs I I bony might be a guy who comes in and pinch runs you’re not going to if Canario sits for the next 10 days and only pinch hits four times right mhm you’re not going to stunt his progress at Triple A he can still just go back to Iowa but what is Master bony G to give you like I just said he might give you some speed and this this the thing too Luke is that it’s just it’s boring no I I agree it’s boring I this is the thing too though Master bony has also been hitting really well at Iowa but the reason that I don’t like it outside of the fact that obviously he hasn’t done well at the major league level but the reason that I really don’t like it is the fact that bod is already here bod’s going to play over him Nico and Dansby are here and even though I think Nico’s hand isn’t okay and he’s still he’s still going to play every single day clearly all right so Master Bon is like the very last guy on the bench and he will come in to probably do pinch running and of some sorts and he might get some pinch pitch hitting at bats which honestly for the type of player he is the role that that he would have on any decent team at all that would be it but the thing that’s upsetting and annoying is the fact that the offense has been struggling and you have a guy like Owen Casey or in your like what you’re saying Alexander Canario down there and it’s like those guys can make a difference but the Cubs are looking at it as they want those guys to get every day at bats and they aren’t going to get it on the major league team which in some ways you can criticize too because Mike Topman was getting everyday bats and I know value-wise he’ been one of the most valuable guys on the team this year however he can’t hit the long ball on a regular basis those two guys that we just mentioned they they have at the minor league level so I I agree with you in some aspects about it it’s just that the I’m I’m so far way past like caring about this because this is no surprise this like they’ve been doing this for two years so whatever if they start winning games I’ll give them all the credit it was when Master bony was called up off tonight when we win five in a row we win five in a row it’s because Master bony was called up maybe it’s because uh you know bush is hitting second tonight in the lineup and PCA is playing more you know like I I I don’t know there’s all kinds of problems with this team man like I I’m so far past complaining about who’s getting called up and who’s not getting called up at this point because it’s just an endless frustration endless frustration from this organization I just want to have some sort of anticipation somewhere in the game when I’m watching it where I’m like well we could get a big Boomer bust we could get a Canario at bat tonight we’ll see what happens and I I see what Sean’s Sean uh casselli by the way in the live YouTube chat says he’s canceled his Marquee already and and he says Jed doesn’t care about winning he’s worried that if Canario comes up and looks bad he’s going to lose his trade value I don’t know I I’m I’m to the point where I wouldn’t trade him anyway at this point well what what’s what’s one guy going to do for instance they went and traded uh for cash considerations they got to catch her they traded cash considerations C cash considerations going away and they got a catcher from the Phillies who I don’t know how that’s going to factor in but what okay he’s and he’s he’s a career minor leager but he is I’m trying to figure out how is that because they needed to put somebody somewhere cuz Moes bosteros was called up to triaa probably I I don’t know he’s from Park Ridge he’s there we go there’s the local connection that’s what it is 27y old local hero comes home the numbers in the minor leag I apologize he’s one of us I don’t like I saw the only reason we’re talking about this is cuz I saw it on Twitter like five minutes before we started the show and poor CJ Edwards yeah how rap report here uh reporting that uh uh Phillies catcher was reported to was assigned to daa there it is so there it’s the fill in for B STS yes uh poor CJ Edwards right yeah I guess I guess DFA how bad the howad things released okay he was released how bad do things have to be going for you yeah to be released from the Cubs when the bullpen going the way it is right now that they won’t even they won’t even say man we got an inning we’ll give you yeah I mean NOP no we’re going to go back to nerys we think we’ll go back to nerys tonight I mean there’s a handful of dudes on the 40 man that I’m like you easily could have taken them off the 40 man but um my silver lining to it is that Roberts got put on the 40 man on Sunday so they both had opt outs this past weekend and they put one of them on there so I think Ryan’s mad at us Ryan say we’re talking about the 26th man on the roster Master Bon is here to sit on the bench versus a prospect who would be behind four guys if it’s in the Outfield who could continue to play every day in the major minors and I’m just saying yeah but it’s not like you’re taking them for two months to sit here and not play at all mhm I went on the 10day iil you can’t call him up for a cup of coffee and a couple pinch hits well no I believe it was reported he’s going to be out at least four weeks I know well you’ll have some other adjustment you don’t think that’s going to be the you think that’s going the last roster move they have to make it’s true there’ll be another one coming maybe maybe that’s when they make the move 26 man doesn’t matter when the rest of your team can do literally anything but they’re clawing at every run and now they added a dude that hits worse than Cody during BP at Wrigley so that’s cold see that’s cold I realiz part but it’s true they they need they’re losing a lot of close games on the margins unfortunately there’s a lot of guys on the team playing like the 26th man on the roster right now yeah I just want one that might might give us something exciting to watch I think if I think if hap say or Bellinger got hurt we would see one of those guys because they would play every day they’re not going to play Canario or Casey every day and the thing is is that tochman had been playing every day like and he didn’t have to play every day so that’s my rebuttal to what Ryan’s saying is like they the the guy they put on the injured list was a guy that play it every day you can’t call up a guy like if if you can find a way to play Mike tochman every day you can’t find a way to play one of your highly tal prospects like that’s that’s it that to me that’s it but the again the only Pro side of it is that they better play PCA every day and Michael Bush better play every day because that’s their explanation is that that way those two guys can play every day speaking of mus so folks have to go right now to all chg.com and sign up for after a little hangout there in the morning on the 29th cuz it’s like a 3:00 start in Milwaukee the next stop is Circa Sports in wan to pick up our friends in pick more people and also you know place a few Wagers do what you want to do right have a little fun then the bus leaves again then it goes up to the tailgate yeah then you go into the ballpark and you take over blue uh Blue Moon ballpark uh North yeah and you’re not giving your money to rickets and hopefully by then they they’ve turned it around around some maybe they get on a streak like the Mets yeah who was it they had come out Grimace saying the seventh inning stretch or something stupid Grimace throughout the first pitch they can’t lose all of a sudden they’re red hot now what when I say what the heck is Clark doing yeah come on Clark also like that’s why uh we should like Cookie Monster bring him back we should and for a players for a player we should like give Swanson a standing ovation or something that worked for Trey Turner last year like I don’t know maybe Swanson should shave his head I don’t know yeah the long pants worked for like 4 days it’s not working right now wants to trade seya and ha but both have no trade CLA it is reaching the point where it it’s been so bad in such a like this compact stretch where it just came on so suddenly and it’s remained so bad it does feel like a situation where it’s like is there some sort of ritual we can do to lift these these evil spirits you know that are that are I I I hope they’re like you know in the clubhouse gathered around a trash can everybody’s burning something and you know trying ward off you know whatever is plaguing this team maybe holy water maybe it’s just mediocre Talent that’s possible but if it’s something else it’s reaching the point where that’s you know we might need to reach out to some it’s not even mediocre I I like I like a good filet cooked medium plus it’s just beyond medium but it’s not medium well that’s where we’re at we’re medium plus yeah we’re not mid we’re mid plus we’re just a little above I did uh I did listen to I did listen to sahad of Sharma on foul territory today and he said some stuff about how he thinks that they’re going to go get a guy that isn’t a rental at before the deadline that’s the only type of player I’d be even interested in acquiring at this point like especially for prospects why would you get a guy that’s just a one-year rental at this point it’s worthless and he like used the year whatever year it was when the Dodgers and the Nationals made a trade that sent Max Scherzer and Trey Turner to the Dodgers and they you know the Dodgers sent however many prospects back um I don’t know how to figure out what kind of move that could be but you know he said before the deadline we will see teams separate and obviously the Cubs got to start winning games if they’re going to be buying or doing any kind of Trades that don’t involve them staying pack because I don’t think they’re selling and if they sell they’re selling off Bullpen pieces maybe Mike tochman um and you know that’s really about it right but uh yeah I mean that to at this point if you’re making any kind of buying move at the deadline you’re getting a guy or two that have multiple years of control so we’ll see but and there’s a lot of games to be left there a lot of games to be played still but I will say it was nice to listen to someone say something about this team that at least made me feel like hope and he was just giving his opinion on like what he thinks they’re going to do it’s not like he has any inside information on that but um yeah man like that’s that’s that’s what they need that they need to do something bold like that’s what all the chats saying and all these like every night it’s like this team doesn’t do anything bold you’re sitting here complaining about master bony instead of Canario or Casey or whoever and like it’s a regular Rost we’re talking about the last guy on the bench like that’s how freaking depressing it is to be a this team right now is like we’re we’ve reached this level we’ve reached this level where we’re like irrationally angry about something like that and I don’t blame you no the the team is the team is risking by not playing well and by not building the roster the way that probably needed to be built the team in the franchise are risking missing the postseason in a very very very winnable division yeah they’re not even close right now and the fans what we’re risking along the way I speak for myself maybe in this one I’m running the risk of getting closer and closer to being complacent about it cuz I know a lot of my buddies are yeah they’re just like how do you how do you go talk in the podcast every day I’m like well I Cody gets me amped up every once in a while you know like but but seriously I think big of you to say while there there are people going because they like to see the ballpark and all that stuff they’re they’re not the white socks but there’s a lot of complacency starting to build in Chicago Sports there’s an awful lot of people just saying oh man when is Hard Knox going to start that’s what we’re looking forward to a TV show about practice that’s that’s how bad it’s gotten in Chicago sports right now that we the most exciting thing coming right now is is a television show about a practice the Bears are going to do that’s where we’re at the sky are giving us something to talk about but yes okay I didn’t I wasn’t trying to correct you I’m just I wanted to give them some credit however I’m with you for the most part it’s hard admittedly like some people might have listened to yesterday’s podcast this morning on their way to work or if they were watching live with us last night with all 500 people who were watching us it might have got the feeling that I am just very like when I say I’m numb it’s more about like I just don’t care anymore and that is where I am I I do not care it takes a lot for me to not care and it doesn’t mean that I don’t care about the future of the organization I just don’t care at this point I don’t care about the rest of this season I and that’s how how messed up that is how mess how messed up is that considering considering it’s mid June they’re five under 500 and like things could even at this point things could absolutely be worse but I think the reason that I’m feeling the way I’m feeling is that I’ve seen this movie before we’re like I think uh Nan said in the chat like this is a rerun from last year feels like September it well right now minus the Lees changing right now I feel like I’m in September last year I feel like we were at a like we were we were right around the middle of the year last year where they they were before they got hot before they got hot yeah that’s where I feel like it and I’m still there’s the this 5% of me that’s like well if this feels like last year and everything’s like last year then they’re going to get hot eventually and hopefully they don’t their pants in September again but it’s a very very small percentage man so you know that if you want to know you want my optimism right now it’s down to like 5% but like overall I just I don’t care I’m I’m at a point where I’m ready to jump ahead to the trade deadline see where the record is and you know see if we’re see what we can get for some guys or if you know if if I’m completely wrong and things are at least around 500 then maybe you make some trades whatever but like everyone in the chat saying this team’s boring there’s nothing interesting about them Christopher Morell is probably the most interesting thing and sha oh yeah for sure sha the pitching St like I I I can’t you can’t complain about the starters the starting pitching has probably been the most interesting overall because they’ve been so much better than what anyone one expected but this offense has severely underperformed and that’s insane because the starting pitching has been better than anybody could have expected Jed Hoyer included anybody and the offense is so bad that they are three games out of being the worst team in the National League yeah with the the the highest possible outcome for the pitching staff basically and I don’t think anyone thought the offense was going to be elite or anything but I thought it would be better than this and I don’t disagree with Susie she’s saying pretty much every fan in every city is feeling this way right now because scoring is down it’s pitching Duss the the game currently is a little boring in general across Major League Baseball but we’re on the north side of Chicago this isn’t Cincinnati where you expect boring this isn’t Pittsburgh where at some point in the season it’s boring it’s not Kansas City where the season is boring mhm you know there there’s it’s it’s not Tampa where the season is boring even if they’re good this is the Cubs like it and it’s not just this year it’s been like two or three years of this so hopefully steel can be in it long enough that the bullpen can’t blow it tonight that’s the hope you got to hope that steel can pitch long enough that you don’t have to use more than one 5050 guy at the end of the game I think well actually I’m just curious if they actually get to the ninth inning with a Le who’s going to close who’s going to close like they didn’t put ha in the leadoff spot like I asked they put Herer there a guy who’s really been not been getting it done he did hit the ball harder yesterday so whatever I don’t like that he’s leading off but whatever at least bush is hitting second bush is should have been in the top three of this lineup for the last three weeks but whatever um yeah I guess the if you can if you can get to the ninth inning I I I’m I’m just I intrigued to see what they’re going to do there’s just a I don’t I want to believe that what Craig Council said last night in the post game was that he was just you know sticking up for his guy and they’re going to have internal con they had internal conversations he won’t he won’t be in there tonight you know like I don’t know how many pitches he threw yesterday but too many he was in there all I’m saying is assum if there if there is a save situation in the ninth inning tonight it better not be Hector nerys because can you tell traffic I just can’t do it Captain negative came back can you can you tell how bad traffic was coming in I mean I got 95 traffic just bumper to bumper to bumper bumper did you feel and as I’m sitting there going like this falling asleep at the wheel all I could think about is how bad the game was last night yeah I’m ready to be heard again you’re ready to be heard again I’m ready to be heard again uh hopefully we win some money along the way Ian hap over one and a half total bases tonight that’s the bet that’s the bet that’s the bet uh he a home run against Logan Webb let’s go we will be here for a full hour after the game Ryan will join us with all of the goodies from the press conference afterwards and also from inside the clubhouse after the game and you know who knows baseball’s a funny game maybe it’ll be 14 to 13 yeah uh twig Woodman says Cubs will score 15 tonight right everybody’s expecting steel and web these two teams can’t hit it’s going to be one nothing will be done in two hours and somebody will lose on a popup that gets dropped in the Outfield the wind is howling out there today it was last night yeah and they and they put up some runs they finally hit a couple home runs but it was like it took a while yeah it took a while and then they lost on a wind blown Homer according to council it’s like well couldn’t you hit more than two them yeah right Sean says Lil Jed is going to be mad at us at Point yeah I well you know what we might have to get ice cream if it goes like last night we might have to get ice cream that’s all I’m saying ice cream socials might be back God uh join us for the
