MONTREAL CANADIENS TRADE UPDATE: KAIDEN GUHLE / MIKE MATHESON TRADE TO CAROLINA HURRICANES? NECAS

hey hey what do you say it’s another video about Martin anes yay of course now this video is going to be part Martin H’s talk and it’s also going to be part Montreal Canadians defenseman talk because when it comes to the latest update we had heard in regards to the Marty NES trade sweep Stakes it was David Pena on Twitter who went out there and said this that as the hurricanes are trying to carry out trade talks with teams about naturous the word is the canes are looking to complete a hockey trade not a deal strictly for future assets teams like Nashville Seattle and Montreal are among those still believed to be in the mix now just in case you needed a refresher what is a hockey trade well a hockey trade is pretty much fancy talk for a one forone trade and in particular it would be one for one asset for asset that can actually be applied to the team right now a player who is on the roster being traded one for one for another player who was on the other roster no picks no prospects no extra stuff involved here it’s just straight up easy deal now I get it Martin hes is a pretty valuable piece he should be worth a lot on the trade market but in a hockey trade things get a little bit interesting because of course Martin atus is a guy who at his prime he probably could get 75 to 80 points in a year he is still young he’ll be resigned to a big contract so he’ll be on the next team’s payroll for 7 to 8 years there’s a lot going for Natures that makes him a positive asset but because he is so good because he is so Elite you could say what exactly is it that the Carolina Hurricanes would be looking for in a hockey trade with the Montreal Canadians now we can talk about the PRS and the Kraken in other videos but I wanted to focus more on the Canadians conversation here because some of the replies go out there and try to answer that question straight up Alex Walsh asked this what would Seattle and Montreal offer in a hockey trade for nus that makes sense for Carolina genuinely curious the top reply says ghouly or mat Kaden ghouly is who came to mind for me as well mat I don’t know he doesn’t scream Carolina to me but I also can’t say I watched a ton of Montreal this year here they want a hockey trade the reply says and the interesting thing about this is that Kaden ghouly isn’t actually the only guy that is mentioned here mat if I were a contending team adding a 50 to 60 point defenseman at 4.5 million like ma would entice me then if you go over to some of the other conversations here if Kaden ghouly is traded for NIS Z buam is 95% picked and this kind of plays into what the Canadians can do at the draft table hey if they trade away one of their top left-handed defenseman prospects then there will be a few of them that are available in this year’s draft at fifth overall we had already seen rumors popping up that say that the Montreal Canadians want a defenseman or at least they’re looking at potential defenseman to draft they had taken Sam Dickinson out to dinner Steve buam was reportedly on their list for fifth overall if they trade away Kaden ghouly then that opens the door right away for a guy like Steve boam who has maybe similar offensive potential to a guy like Lane Hudson to be taken by the Canadians in that spot now on that note when you want to talk about the hockey trade okay this actually does make sense because Martin hus getting traded for a defenseman to help out the Carolina Hurricanes in their blue line makes a lot of sense to me ghouly and mat are both left-handed guys you can say that that’s an area of Need for Carolina and the fact is Kaden Ghul’s value is a lot better I would say if you want to go longterm but if you want to go shortterm Mike Mat is your guy right now mat has 8 years on Kaden gouy but he’s got a heck of a lot more points 62 points 82 games played of course the question is if a guy like Mike Mat goes over to Carolina does he still produce 60 points a season does he go out there and he’s not in the first power play anymore he doesn’t get the top pairing minutes anymore does his production significantly decline meanwhile for Kaden ghouly you can say that realistically he will mold and become better better into the future so this would be a trade for not just the now but also into the next few years is that worth what a Martin hes is on the Block right now is that a hockey trade that makes sense when you evaluate it both sides now to expand a little bit more on the Kaden ghouly Mike Mat trade idea I wanted to revert your attention to this tweet made by Alex JN this was from yesterday I’m pretty sure yeah it was yesterday the 22nd and it goes out there and summarizes a lot of the Montreal Canadians fans perspectives because there’s a lot of them and some of them are quite contradictory I’ll summarize what I see on Twitter Alex says one you can’t tra Mike Mat you need some veteran leadership all right fine two he can’t trade Kaden gly he’s a future sha Weber all right fine three you can’t trade Lane Hudson that’s fair I wouldn’t trade him either four you can’t trade Arbor Jai he’s a unicorn and you need him in the playoffs all right fine you already have four left-handed D that can play NHL minutes and you also have to add Jordan Harris and Jaden struble to this without mentioning that you also have Adam angstrom in the system at some point you’ll have to move someone there’s no sugarcoating it but all I see is people expecting Harris and strubel to land you a top six forward and so this idea is going out there and proclaiming hey what are Canadians talking about what are you talking about Jordan Harris from Martin hes that’s not going to work he’s not good enough to justify that price tag the Carolina Hurricanes if they wanted a guy like Jordan Harrison a Martin H’s trade that trade would have been done two days ago but no that’s not what they want they want somebody that’s actually able to contribute in a meaningful way now they want Elite Talent now Kaden ghouly may not be the best of the best shutdown defensive wall defenseman like Shea Weber was right now but he probably will be that soon Mike Mat is a 60 Point defenseman you can’t really say anything wrong about that so these are the guys that you can say would get a hockey trade done for Marty na so one for one gouy for na swap maybe gets it done one for one Hudson for na swap maybe it doesn’t get it done I’d say that Hudson because he has not really shown off too big of a sample in the NHL yet I believe there’s a benefit of the doubt that you could apply here Arbor jaai he’s a little bit of a different unicorn because he’s not really the most off i l gifted but everywhere else I mean he’s so talented and he’s so reckless towards the opponents that that provides value in of itself right but either way when it comes to the idea of a Marty nature trade and the Montreal Canadians potentially getting in this in a hockey trade capacity a one for one deal capacity for a defenseman I want you to let me know your thoughts in the comments section below how do you feel about the idea of the Canadians trading one of Kaden ghouly or mik mat in a one for one swap for Marty naturis does this get done in your opinion it fits all the criteria but is it something that you Vibe with do you like this idea and if you were to see this happen what do you think about this rebuttal here if you trade away Kaden ghouly screw Kaden Lindstrom screw Ivan demidov the Canadians are going Z Boo at number five to replace that left-handed defenseman spot what are your opinions on this entire progression here and How likely do you think it is that the Canadians explore some sort of a trade I mean they have a whole bunch of guys who are already pegged in as options on this team you can’t have all of these guys forever unfortunately somebody’s going to have to move when and where is that is it within the next few days here and is it for a guy like Marty hes let me know your thoughts in the comment section below I hope you enjoyed this astrol 99 and bye

  1. I think matheson is getting moved this off season, his value is higher than it will ever be and we have a defensive log jam. Somones getting moved and its the oldest guy. Maybe not for Necas because carolina wants more than just Mathesen but probably for a decent prosecpect.

  2. If MTL really wants Necas, they should trade either one period. You can’t keep all these guys. Like mentioned, you can always draft a top four defenceman. If Necas is valued way better than the upcoming draft forwards, there is no question MTL should do this trade.

  3. For the last 6 month I call Matheson for Necas… the lower cost of Matheson for what he give you fit so much with Tom Dundon philosophy. That’s why I believe a one for one deal would work.

  4. Pass on necas big time pass , he will want to much money coming off a down year and the team loses all leverage if you just traded for him . Matheson had more points then necas last season . Montreal can look elsewhere for help in the top 6 . Newhook looked good on that second line ,dach needs to stay healthy , and no need to force roy into the top 6 , montreal has to get 1 maybe 2, 2nd line players ,I don't think hughes trades nor necas , the value isn't there. My call is Laine, short term commitment and can get him for a decent price .

  5. Keep Buuim, Guhli, Reinbacher, Hutson, amazing core right there, the Jackeye can't spell and strubble… Then with time you chance the bottom 2 for newer younger players, solid D man, thst's how you're gona wiin Cups with a very good top 6 of course.

  6. So let’s say Guhke does turn into a Weber esk player Montreal loses this trade handily . As a rebuilding team you do not trade projected top 4 studs who play amazing D with very good offensive instincts for a middle 6 winger with 1 ok season under his belt on a power house team . Silly imo if I was trading Guhke it would be for a bonafide star , yes they will need to sweeten it but that is why they’ve collected picks

  7. They will still have 7 Left D after the trade. Matheson/Guhle, Hutson, Xhekaj, Harris, Struble, and prospects Engstrom, Trudeau. So they can still pick a Forward at 5th. But all of a sudden the Right side D become stronger than the left with "studs" Reinbacher and Mailloux

  8. Stop mtl dont draft a left d they dont need another one they need RW and RD and mattheson is going to be trade for New jersey for their 10th pick and i prefer Patrick laine beacause only 2 year left but if we sign necas and he choke like anderson we are stuck with him for 7 years at 7 millions is worst than anderson

  9. Guhle has far more worth than a dime a dozen forward like Necas think playoffs and a shut down 4 strong D-man like we ran with in 2021

  10. Trade Matheson now!!!! This is another Josh Anderson situation waiting to happen. Matheson is overperforming right now and the Habs will regret it if they dont trade him while the value is high, just like they regret not trading Josh when they got offered a 1st round pick for him. Even when overperforming he's an absolute defensive liability and a power play marchant. Matheson got 62 pts of which 28 pts come from the powerplay and he's got the worst +/- with -24 alongside Gallagher. Most people judge him off the highlight reels so they have an heavily skewed opinion of him but I wish there was a highlight reel of his defensive blunders so that Habs fans can finally see the light. His only redeeming feature is his TOI and his veteran presence but we have loads of young defs that need NHL TOI and I prefer keeping Savard as a Veteran teacher. Most kids these days joining the NHL know how to score, what they need to be taught is how to defend at elite level and how to play during playoff times. Savard and the coaching staff will teach them that way better than Matheson could. Not to mention Hutson is probably gonna be better than him on his year 2 if not year 1 in the NHL.

  11. I love how much Habs fans overrate Ghule. He’s a 4 or 5 defenceman. He’s easily replicable and if the Canes give up Necas for him they would be crazy. The Habs have nothing to give them worth Necas value.
