If Fitz can somehow turn Marino and Holtz into McGroarty and add Pesce to replace Marino, then that is some serious GM magic.
What’s he expected to get ?
would be a nice pickup, bit of a homecoming too (even though he’s a westchester kid) for a guy who grew up playing for the avalanche and hitmen
If this happens I think that means Marino on the trade block. Nemec isn’t going back to the AHL. If Fitz signs Pesce for 5-6 and trades Marino, that’d only add 1-2mil in cap which would be a very reasonable upgrade for a reasonable price.
Would be happy with this depending on term and money.
Losing Johnny is gonna be a massive blow tho on a purely personal note…
But imagine the Luke – Pesce pairing!
Nice get, but his name won’t have the same ring coming out of Hamway’s pipes as “Jyahn. Marino!”
Marino would be a great trade piece to make room but a reminder that he has a M-NTC.

FWIW a friend has a plugged in source and he’s heard that it’s not 100% going to happen but if it does it’ll be in the 6×6 range. If that does happen, Marino or Siegenthaler will be moved (according to this source).
What kind of player is he? I’ve seen plenty of him but can’t seem to recall how he plays? More 2 way or more shutdown? Physical at all?
Hmmm can pesce penalty kill? Marino would be our number 1 option currently as Bahl and smith are both gone. I wouldnt be opposed to swapping Marino out, but only hesitation would be worried about ending up with just a more expensive Marino. But I don’t know enough about pesce, but my main criteria would be penalty killing. If he can do that well, that would be great. Then get another depth D like Mcnabb and that would be our first penalty killing pair. Sieg and Nemec could be the other and then Hamilton and lastly Luke if needed.
Spoiler alert: seeing as how we need a top 6 + bottom 6 + top pair defenseman + goalies + rebuild our prospect pool + a whole new coaching staff, the devils have been linked to everything hockey including available mascots and alternate jerseys this summer.
It’s a little crazy how many good RD are available this offseason.
I wonder if Travis Green loves him so much there’s a Chychrun for Marino+ deal
