JAKE GUENTZEL SIGNING UPDATES: VANCOUVER CANUCKS, DETROIT RED WINGS, LA KINGS, HURRICANES NEWS

[Music] so the thing is we had a bunch of signings in the NHL today that were pretty noteworthy Dylan Dello Casey midad a few other names got Inked to the dotted line and that’s great we love to see signing news we love to see guys getting paid what they’re worth but when it comes to the guys who have not signed these are the conversations that I actually gravitate to the most and you know it’s easy to see why my favorite team is involved in these so there’s a bigger personal connection to these ideas let’s go out there and talk about the latest when it comes to one of the top guys in this year’s free agency class in fact he may even be number one by the time July 1st hits and if he’s not under contract with his team this guy could fetch an absolute Hall of course we are talking about Carolina Hurricanes forward Jake gzel because there were some updates take a look at this tweet made by Pierre LeBron from earlier this afternoon Carolina has not given up on trying to sign Jake gensel talks are ongoing my sense is it’s going to be hard for him to not see what’s out there on Monday but the hurricanes are still trying okay so that’s pretty simple pretty basic Carolina they got this guy they traded away a bunch of stuff for him prospects picks you had Michael bunting in there over to Pittsburgh and Kyle dubis the big reunion but when it comes to the guy they got in return Jake gensel who was very good for their team by the way is a target of them to want to resign 25 points 17 games played nine points and 11 games in the playoffs and of course the 52 points and 50 games he had with the Penguins before the trade gensel is an awesome player and with Carolina re-entering the mix so to say it does provide a little bit of flavor to the conversation as to where he’s going to go because just a few weeks ago we had had rumor saying hey the hurricanes are shopping around gensel for a third or a second or maybe multiple fours or fifths because they can trade away his rights and whatever team gets ginel could have the option to try to sign him earlier than July 1st so that he doesn’t go to the market and you could also get that eighth year on the contract if you wanted to do that but other than what Pier LeBron said we also had David panota going out there and saying this on the Jake gensel front there’s lots of chatter about the Kings among the teams that have serious interest add the Detroit Red Wings to that list too although the canes have not shut the door either and so what I want to do in this video was go over each of the four teams and talk about where we have gone from and how we got to the points we’re at today I don’t know if we need to do an entire dive into why the Carolina Hurricanes would want to keep kensil around but he was good very very good in fact so yeah of course they want to keep him around but the two other teams that are mentioned in peno’s tweet the LA Kings and the Red Wings are very interesting because they had just opened the door to being able to grab more money La just traded away Pier L DUIs they got Darcy keer in return and the monetary value as to what they’re gaining is pretty significant they’re getting about 3 million bucks in extra dollars with this trade adding the fact that the keer and Dubois trade was with no salary retained and there is a lot of extra leeway here for the LA Kings to add themselves a score like gensel to play with fiala to play with Kopitar to play with bfield fiala and gensel together sounds like a nightmare for Pacific Division teams I cannot stress how bad that would be for my Vancouver kxs but the Kings have themselves the opportunity to do that they needed scoring they needed to break away from that 131 who knows if Pier L du’s departure is going to allow the team to do that more seamlessly but for now adding on a score like that could definitely help out in more ways than one there have been some forwards who have shared time between the LA Kings and the Pittsburgh Penguins in the past if you wanted to toss in the Carolina Hurricanes gel could be another one of these patrons in the revolving Carousel of guys that have included Justin Williams and Jeff Carter and a few extra names too on top of that Mel grandland even if you wanted to see but either way when it comes to La they are reportedly in the mix for Jake G we also had the Detroit Red Wings and this is interesting because the Red Wings just traded away Jake wman for nothing they took a big strangle hold over the hockey world with their trades today with the sharks and the Nashville Predators they did open up some money though $3 something million has been freed up from the Redwing salary cap and that’s a lot of money too 3 million bucks the same as the LA Kings if you wanted to say that opens the door for a big acquisition okay Stevie y I’ll let you cook here I know a lot of people especially in the comment section of the last video were freaking the hell out as to whether or not this was going to happen soon how Steve Eiserman is preparing all this stuff for the draft on Friday but we have no ankling as to where he’s going to go with this if they end up making just a whole bunch of other signings for Middle tier guys like JT Comer and Andrew cop then who knows how the Red Wings fan base will freak out about that but either way free it up money whether it is for Raymond or cider or for anybody else will take a look over the next few days here and see if that is the case obviously Jake gensel playing with guys like Alex De Brit would be pretty good Jake gensel has the left wing on a Lucas Raymond Lin line sounds awesome if you lose out on Patrick Kane which it looks a lot more evident like that’s going to happen then gensel is not a bad replacement in fact I’d say they’re pretty comparable skill-wise Plus gensel has a little bit more of an edge two-way that I would say is not so present in Kane’s game nowadays either so that would be an upgrade of course though it’s going to cost some money the Red Wings just freed up some money so we’ll see if they’re able to explore that route more so and then we had ourselves the Vancouver kcks who were not mentioned in any of the tweets that we had talked about but with this coming out with all of this conversation about gensel heating up with other teams it’s starting to become a little bit worrisome I’d say for my Vancouver Squad because Patrick ala Rutherford of course it’s been very well expressed that they’ve wanted gel the entire time they tried trading for him back at the trade deadline there were conversations as to whether or not the KX may make the Carolina Hurricanes an offer with a pick or something for the rights to sign gel early of course Alvine and Rutherford have experience with this guy and because he’s almost exactly what Vancouver needs at this point in their progression it’s very difficult to come to terms with the idea that says some other team might just be able to sign him over Vancouver it seems like all and raford have put all their chips into making this a possibility they’re not signing any bigname guys they’re not resigning some of the most expensive players they have they were willing to go 7 by7 with lindol but he doesn’t want to do that so use that 7 million bucks and some of the other cap savings you’ve got to get Jake gensel instead that seems to be the plan here he’ll replace Ilia mb’s spot on Alias P’s line it’s going to be awesome and that seems like a match made in heaven but if these other teams are going to start freeing up cap space and putting in the work to open that opportunity more for them it’s starting to get a little bit worrisome in my opinion if you’re a Vancouver canu fan in fact I’ve started to see some Canucks fans sort of go in Doomer mode on this like oh it’s going to suck when Jake gensel signs with some other random team oh the Red Wings they’re opening up the space and they want him sorry Vancouver it’s not going to happen oh no I’m setting myself up for disappointment yada yada yada like people are freaking out about this Jake gensel is one of the top free agent targets that I think Canuck fans have wanted in a very long time it’s been a while since I think the team had a guy on their radar that was so public that wasn’t like already a part of their team but now it’s starting to get a little bit panicky here it was different when the Canucks had their own guys that went to free agency of course Canucks fans wanted to see 10 of Mark shman to fully come back but a guy who is not theirs we’ll see whether or not this actually does manifest into a Vancouver dub or if the Kings or the Red Wings or the hurricanes even end up just resigning the guy instead so let me know your thoughts in
