Spitting Fire today uh what one of that can start the domino effect as vgk looks to rebuild this roster what needs to start first um Cobra Kai strike strike First Strike hard no mercy golden knights need to whatever they do it needs to happen fast whether it’s marches so whether it’s a high value free agent whether there’s a trade in the works whatever needs to happen needs to happen before or right at July 1st obviously July 1st is the free agent signing is and everything but if they go a couple of days and March or so winds up getting signed somewhere else and the golden knights still have money on the or money to spend probably not but if they still have that $6 million to spend and players are getting nabbed up now all of a sudden you’re looking at I want to say sloppy seconds but you’re looking at you know players that were picked over passed over and stuff like that so I think the first thing for me for everything to fall into place is urgency right now something needs to happen today tomorrow and then off go well we’re doing the uh all the used uniform stuff we’re selling that today I think you know that’s a good thing that that’s gonna start the Domino’s rolling uh shouldn’t vgk first and foremost tell the players uh like they notified Anthony mattha whether the team is going to resign them or not so that those players can advance and go out and try to find some work there for this upcoming season if you’re of the Marshall so if you’re Chandler Stevenson you don’t want negotiations to drag on right you need to get the money first and foremost and I agree with you about that sense of urgency but I think this has to happen immediately so those players are aware you need to clear all the cap space and you need to be prepared to sign whomever you’re going to sign and the way that I think the pecking order should go I think they need that one name player that’s going to attract fans and fan interest Marner uh and maybe like three up to three complimentary players you need the one scorer that’s going to help you consistently and then you need to sign three complimentary players that are going to be everyday players for this club so that’s why we we talked about Patrick Kane probably two weeks ago and I didn’t didn’t really dig that oners yeah I but just point is he’s a player that can score yes he’s old I understand his situation um but he’s a player let’s just again we’re assuming marcheso is out of the picture when we talk about a new player like that coming in Patrick Kane might score 50 points he might score more if he’s healthy for you know a full you know 70 75 80 games that would be the hope but if he gets 50 points some way somehow I think Kane has done it would have done his job with the golden knights but the nice thing about Kane is he comes with probably a two and a half to three and a. half million doll a depending on how the term and everything gets worked out that still leaves the team three three-ish $4 million depending on what the final capit would be to look at one or two or three free agents to figure out what they’re going to do with Yuri Patera I think Dora fev still needs another RFA contract I could be wrong on that one he does Ken corac still needs his RFA contct those two correct so you know you have some some room to work with and things like that and that’s why we talk about the urgency if they all sudden like let’s say today it comes out corac Patera um they’ve and I forgot the other one already all the rfas get their contracts today or tomorrow now that’s really interesting because now the golden kns are down to you know $2 and a half million doar in cap space to work with if there’s going to be the marchas so extension there has to be a five to6 million do player traded you’re going to look at players of course like Braden McNab and Shay theore that’s where everything is going to start but I mean fredman the other day puts it out there you know expect to see the unexpected expect things happening during this free agency period and trade cycle that you maybe haven’t seen it could be like uh like a basketball deadline and stuff like that where just you know crazy stuff happens even football’s been getting a little more active as has as there’s been some good baseball trade deadlines this might be a similar trade deadline type of moment but in the off season yeah it’s going to get real hairy around here this weekend not just Vegas everywhere but yeah well they’re all here okay yeah and uh k a do you agree consensus carier Gone amadio Gone Martinez gone Kier and amadio were reportedly also notified the same time when mantha was notified like 40 days ago that um they were not going to be returning to the Vegas golden knights Martinez I think they’re I think both sides maybe just have an agreement to wait and see we don’t know if Martinez is going to announce his retire number one I don’t think that’s going to happen at this point maybe it is maybe it isn’t I got the feeling that Martinez might be the one saying hey let’s just kind of see what what comes in and what comes during free agency and I don’t think Martinez is looking to bid people up or anything like that I think he’s looking at opportunity and if uh other Front Runners don’t come calling or a place where he really wants to go he might be willing to ride out in Vegas you know for another season or two at close to a league minimum if that’s the case you find a way you find a way to keep Martinez in this line lineup um as far as Stevenson we he’s probably least talked about I don’t agree that he should be back though they need some fresh legs they do I oh I don’t at a minimum contract you find a way anything beyond a minimum contract it’s you know a future it’s a good luck in your future endeavors um back to Stevenson we don’t even talked about Stephenson like he’s the quietest free agent and and he again he had a quiet okay season wasn’t as good as the last couple but I again if marcheso doesn’t get extended I don’t want the team celebrating extending Stevenson no disrespect the Chandler Stevenson I about what five five million now five M should be his number I think he get GNA be the going rate I think he gets it in the first hour of free agency honestly I think he I think if he knows by now he’s not coming back I think something happens um back to the marcho side I think no news is probably good news I don’t mean I only mean good news as an been negotiated but I think by now March or so would have been talking through the media if no they probably good they probably have the gag order in effect oh yeah yeah because March so I’m sure would be the first one to say if McMan said don’t talk about the contract I’m sure March so would say okay and just walk away no no no no no March so would say something or if things were starting to go sideways I think on the golden KN side I think they would have reported something maybe to keep the fans a little less on edge too so no news I think is closer to good news than bad news as far as at least the two sides actually sitting down and trying to hammer this thing out but again 6.2 million that’s what the gold Knights have today right now this second to spend his a I don’t think is going to be 6.2 if it is 6.2 then McMan fleeced another another uh another free agent good job decide one CE and for all I think so we’re talking urgency announced the to the players that they’re gone and start filling those gaps urgency I think the fans there’s a lot of fan anticipation and that first signing I think has to be a good one and then also you know I was just going up and down the roster last night and this is an organization that needs to decide once and for all if Brendan bran is going to be an everyday player I think it’s at that juncture bran I don’t I’ll start by saying I don’t think bran has anything to gain at this point in the AHL um if that’s what the path is then so be it but I mean you look at him and Gori Dennis senko are two players to really compare as far as what the AHL is doing to them and what their where their careers are at Dennis senko I think he’s still only 23 years old 24 years old a lot of upside but Dennis senko has had multiple opportunities with the golden knights last year he’s had Chances with the Florida Panthers to crack their roster on a somewhat regular basis Dennis senko AHL roughly a point per game player pretty close to that range but you always don’t see these Point perame AHL players just shifting to the NHL and having everything working out for him they find it very difficult sometimes bran is around what denisenko does in the HL maybe even a little bit less of a score in the AHL than what than what Dennis senko does but bran at least has come here I think he got two goals last season chipped in a couple of assists but he at least looks the part when he’s out there on the ice where Dennis Seiko doesn’t necessarily look the part so upside is certainly significantly greater for Brandon bran and I am with you I think uh now is the time at least let him break Camp as an everyday player and then who knows I mean the trade deadline will come and people get shuffled around and we record Another show about uh players getting buried in Henderson which boy numbers apparently so let’s do let’s do it that show exploded for some reason uh the other thing that I really want on my wish list is and I can’t say this enough sign an experienced goal tender and I feel as though one at least one of the two goalies Logan Thompson is going to be moved has to be moved I I think they need to revitalize and re-energize that position here the problem is Tony right now you have Aiden and Logan making you combin 5.7 5.6 something I think is the actual number so I don’t see the Golden Knights moving on from Logan while increasing their cost for the position I know Logan we’ve had our discussions about where we feel he is in the grand scheme of things as far as the future looks if the team I’ll go on the other side of this now I’m with you on there needs to be another goalie in the picture um I think Logan has the higher upside of he and Aiden Hill I talked with someone on Twitter yesterday about this Aiden Hill in Seven Seasons once got to 35 appearances last year Logan Thompson in his first two full seasons as an everyday NHL or every dayer I think he was 37 and 45 appearances uh their their save percentages were within I want to say two 100ths or two 1000 of a point their goals against are within two one 100ths of a point from a career perspective they’re the same goalie they’re the same goalie statistically I know there’s intangibles that separates the two but at the end of the day they’re the same goalie so my perspective would be to look at options involving Aiden Hill whatever the return is the return is at this point look at options to make a deal involving Aiden Hill even find a way to lower their cost at the goal tender position even farther we talked about alarm off N jelovich Kone and just three names that are out there where the the knights could possibly save more money at the position and then now you have some room to work with with marcheso with free agents with Patrick k whatever whatever the free agent path may be so in in summary if it’s if I’m at if I got the keys to the car I’m looking to do something with Aiden Hill it doesn’t involve any salary retention whatever the the return is the return is and then whichever one of uh whatever my Scouts would come to me and say as far as of the goali leads that are under $3 million out there for one season sign one of them and we go next season yeah I hope that they watch some goalies like 35 times the way that they scouted Anthony mantha that would definitely be useful for also scout barbashev a lot that worked out better Tony so I have to throw that in there I’m spicy as well and I think you know vgk obviously a franchise that likes to make a splash so if they do have that one big nugget they’re going to do that this weekend there will be an announcement while everyone’s here in town for sure of course toino as reported here by me remember I had a source remember told you this was going to happen did Tony yeah about that you talked about like three years ago Dude no that was actually when they announced it was in the fall I think mid-fall late fall when uh they were talking about building this Arena lo and behold I run into a source who is very close to the situation and that’s exactly what rights there to that region right now television rights So What Becomes of that area how long will it take to get expansion there how long till they build a new Arena are we looking at 2027 28 2030 proposed Arena will require a special use permits as a result they’re requesting that the applicant marulu receive a special use permit prior to the auction okay so here’s what I just did Arizona state land Department I looked up the cost for special use permits I don’t know which one they need there’s a bunch of them in here there’s special use public whatever the most expensive one is [Music] $2,500 and all of a sudden boom this land auction is cancelled over a special use permit so who here is lying is it Arizona because oh you don’t got a permit sorry we’re done or marulu just not wanting to file a $2,000 permit to keep the coyotes dream alive for the fans not for Maro how you say it again Maro morelo Mor M MLL like Tom Mel okay there we go Tom MLL like I how is Mel that cheap to get a $2,000 permit knowing that this plan’s going to completely blow up like that’s the biggest thing that kind of gets me I was thinking about this last night when I was falling asleep how much can a special use permit be so that’s where starting the bidding here I’m sure we’ll we’ll I’ll get a lot of chances to call re an idiot in a little bit here so go ahead okay no but can we apply for that special use permit World when they had to like they had to they had to dot they had to cross all the te’s and Dot all the lowercase Jays melo’s decision came after that Arizona state land commission cancelled an upcoming auction for the plot of land as you mentioned where morelo was hoping to build a $3 billion Arena it was Mel’s hope at least through the media entire city to bring an expansion team to Phoenix and the thing about Mel is remember he promised all of this stuff to the NHL and he he never delivered one one iot of it and Gary Batman was getting so frustrated and finally just goes okay that’s enough we’ve had enough we’re going to sell the team we’re going to move it to Utah we’re going to give them a stinking name that makes no sense and that’s it and you can’t see the games anyway from inside the arena now the NHL has to find another owner right and meanwhile who’s gonna go who who well it’s gonna take it’s GNA be an expansion team and you’re G to have to have a good solid what owner wants to even mess with this Market though well because I’ll tell you why I’ll tell you why because I think last I saw it’s number five television market and it’s m the NHL will force the hand to put Keller High Water a franchise in Phoenix because of the Str uh yeah the strength of a television market and the story no and that’s a fair look it really is um the NHL force it but you’re still going to need a billionaire or someone who represents a lot of millionaires who are about to be billionaires for this to happen and you look at all the turmoil all the concern you know maybe a group comes in and wants to be the the hero of the day and boom here we are we we’re here to be the saviors and it does seem kind of like a layup right now if they find the right place to do the stadium whether it’s this complete uh City that they want to build like their own Summerland with a with the professional sporting complex or wherever it is around that Metropolitan Phoenix area it should work now what just gets me about this situation Mel number Mel Tom MLL with Mel I something was off when I was in Arizona for the golden kns game uh in early March end of Fe whenever that was like it just didn’t feel right end of March it just didn’t feel right in there and literally four days later is when all this news broke about Utah and them leaving and all that so it’s such a weird situation I still find it so bizarre that Mel could not find one find a deal with another existing Stadium on a part-time basis like how toxic is this guy where he couldn’t make a deal with the basketball team to play on their odd nights where he couldn’t make a deal with one of the college Arenas that seats you know enough people not not not not mullet but you know a bigger college Arena and stuff like that it’s just so I mean moving to Vegas for two years while they get in like whatever as weird as that sounds whatever he could have done to keep everything going down there and you you interact with all I I I’ve got so many coyote fans on my timeline now because of that dreaded tweet that I did about they play hockey here with a picture of mullet Arena oh man I thought I thought you got all those followers from from the mock draft no no no no the mailbag um what was what was nice is it did a lot of them helped educate me about the situation some a little more aggressively than others but I’m glad that tweet came out because it’s really gotten me as part of you know in the loop about what’s been happening and there there’s one X Factor Mel is a POS who’s going to get a billion dollar benefit for running that franchise into the ground yeah that’s right he got a billion dollar good business good business billion dollars to sell the franchise to Salt Lake now he has to return the team’s marks logo name and territorial rights back to the NHL you know it would be you know what would be more fun a mock draft by the NHL board of Governors they don’t know anything about any of the players I think that would be a lot more fun they’re meeting tomorrow I suspect here in Las Vegas to talk about expansion that will be on the docket it has to be near be in you know for maybe a fringe a fringe borderline type of player you know where the Stanley Cup ranks in importance and I understand the Alex McGinley Fallout because his stats on a perame basis were better than Jr’s not that JR’s career is any less because of that but you know it’s we live in a society where it’s judgmental and that’s the criteria about giving accolades out yeah hockey is for everyone hockey’s for everyone did I ever tell you about the time at the Hard Rock at the Center Bar where I had one of my friends who was a Motocross guy um I go to the restroom I come back and he’s not out of the league now he’s got a contract no still got he’s still making money he’s in the KHL through 2021 maybe that had something to do with it is Weber Weber broke Alex MLL he broke him Shay Weber was sent from vgk to Arizona ltir and now to Utah he broke him he not out of exist how was do not first ballot unless they waited because he was still playing in the K all right make sense
