    How can this person be employed in a role where he interacts with your team’s players? He’s poison.

Skinner wasn’t without his faults but to blame him as the primary reason for every NHL team he was on never making the playoffs is such a ridiculous take that shows not only a lack of understanding of hockey but team sports in general that I’m amazed that anyone who makes a living reporting on hockey or any other team sport would say it out loud.

    Could Skinner’s play style contribute to a difficult season? Sure. But teams win and lose as a group and to say that “a lot of that is on Jeff Skinner” as if he carries some magic curse with him is absolute nonsense.

  17. so if Skinner makes the playoffs next year does that mean he was a winning player after all? what if his team happens to win the cup? or are Jeff Skinner teams doomed to not make the playoff simply by virtue of his being on the team?

    Time and time again in his career it has been shown that the lines that Skinner play on improve the numbers of his linemates

    Even the season when he was in Krueger’s doghouse he still improved his linemates corsi numbers and was creating chances in very limited action

    But “he did not lift his team at any point in his career”. If that’s the job of one single player 99% of the NHL needs to be out of the league

  23. I realize you have to hate Harrington to be a Sabre fan but I can’t quarrel with any of this. And I’m definitely a Skinner fan. I think landing with a competent organization will do him wonders.

    EDIT: I guess my biggest complaint is not that I feel they absolutely need skinner to win, it’s that Adams is a eunuch and I don’t believe for one second he has an idea better than keeping 53 …I mean one that he can actually make happen
