after a worldwind first day of free agency there’s a lot of new faces departures and some really exciting extensions for the Carolina Hurricanes and we’ll talk about all that on a Tuesday edition of lockdown hurricanes your locked on hurricanes your daily podcast on the Carolina hurricane part of the locked on podcast Network your team every day welcome to a Tuesday edition of locked on hurricanes your team every day part of the locked on podcast Network thank you to the everyday or for making this your first listen of the day five days a week Monday through Friday talking everything about your Carolina Hurricanes I am your host Zack Martin I am the Carolina Hurricanes beat writer over at the hockey Riders I do some AHL coverage over at the caller times I am the co-host of the search cast which is a weekly Carolina Hurricanes podcast along with all of my here at locked on Hurricanes got a very exciting Tuesday episode very jam-packed as we’re going to basically recap what happened on day one of fre Agency for the Carolina Hurricanes talking about some extensions and resigns of players who were on last year’s team are coming back once again or basically just getting extended to stay with the Hurricanes longer also going to look at the new faces that are coming to Carolina for the first time although one of them is coming back for a second stin with the hurricane really excited to talk about that one and then also going to say farewell to some players who were on the roster last year who are now moving on to new franchises and you know what contracts they got and how long they’re G to be gone for and what teams they actually went to but before we get into all of that today’s episode is brought to you by FanDuel make every moment more since the playoffs are officially over over you know we’re basically down to baseball NASCAR all the other you know sports are going on right now in the summer but this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long visit vu.com lockon to get started now like I said this episode is going to be mainly just a recap of what happened on day one now we’ll go into like more of a deeper dive into actual players who did you know sign with the Carolina Hurricanes talk about all the new guys and you go dive a little bit more into what happened with you know the extensions and guys who are leaving so we are going to talk about their actual contracts and what was signed and all that stuff but in terms of what actual deep Dives and what you could be actually looking for in certain players we’ll be going over that for the for the most of the week and adding in some other players who potentially over the next next few days sign with the hurricane so a lot of the deep Dives are going to be you know later on in the week uh this episode for Tuesday is just basically recap and what happened on day one because oh my goodness a lot definitely happened for sure so in terms of so we’re going to start with the bigger news first and the fact that there was a long awaited extens that was need that needed to get announced and it finally happened right exactly at noon and of course I think it was like a couple hours beforehand Cur kean’s PR sent out an email and put out you know statement on social media that Jacob slel is going to hold a press conference at noon at PNC Arena and basically you know spoiler alert is that it was them announcing his contract extension St with the Carolina Hurricanes for the next eight seasons and that turned out to be 51 point $69 million and if you look at that over the aav that will come out to 6.46 one million that will carry over through the 2020 2032 33 season so Jacob slavens in in the last year of his current contract is 5.3 and then his eight-year contract kicks in at the start of the 25 26 Season which we’ll see him get a one $461 million raise for the for the fact that Jacob slaven is going from a 5.3 to a 6.4 61 is absolutely amazing by the Carolina Hurricanes it is a phenomenal team controlled Team friendly whatever you want to call it for the fact you’re talking about the best defensive defenseman in hockey probably one of the greatest hurricanes of all time in terms of you know you say current you know you could say other guys as well but you’re let’s say defenseman wild defenseman wise he’s the greatest hurricane of all time and I will not be surprised when it’s all said and done his numbers G to be in the rafters right next to Glad Wesley Francis and Rod bmore like 7 like yes there’s the Caroline hurricanes Hall of Fame with you know Justin Williams and cam Ward but in terms of Jacob slaven when he hangs up the skates and calls it a career 74 is going to the rafter there’s going be no doubt about it and it’s more deservingly so and to be able to and you know all I gotta say give credit to Jacob slaven for not really like he could have easily gotten eight nine million in the open market if he went to you know if he became UFA next season but he basically said he loves the area he loves the team he wanted to stay here and that’s what you saw and for him to stay under seven even stay under six and a half is like I said it’s for him you can just tell it wasn’t about the money for him it was based on the fact of just the area the culture you know he was drafted here by the Hurricanes he’s been a hurricane his entire life and now with this contract you’re talking nine more years right now and if this raising me a hurricane for life and that’s what he wanted and you know you don’t really see a lot of guys do that very much anymore and you see that with a Cornerstone franchise defenseman so it’s really good to see that you know Jacob slaven wanted to stay here and the hurricanes made it happen you know they don’t really give guys who of his age of 29 30 years old a contract extension like that but you know it’s Jacob slaven you know what you get out of him you know two-time Lan being winner you know should have been three in a row should already have some Nores but that’s a whole different conversation for another time but it’s one of those things where it’s like yeah it makes sense to keep a guy like that because you not allow those guys you get very often and for the fact you drafted them you know developed him and now he’s like one of the biggest deals out of the fourth round in a long time at 120th overall you will gladly take that contract and run to the bank and for the fact that he you know wanted to stay here but also do it in a way where the hurricanes have more flexibility now for the next you know after the after this current contract’s done and his new deal kick Kon you’re talking eight years of really great control of you know slavin’s contract in the fact that you know you got flexibility for eight years with him on defense so and that’s why you see you know current exciting will go over you know in segment two with the new faces who knows what who knows what could happen if you you give Jacob slav the eight or nine million dollars or you know what happens after that because you got you got all the restricted free agency you got to worry about Seth Jarvis and Jack jury Dylan cogin Martin niches but then like I said all the other ufas you kind of had to you know try to resign or guys you to pick up off a free agency that come in so to be able to have the flexibility that slaven gave them yes I I know all that isn’t kick in until next year but even next year you know who knows what next summer is going to look like or the summer three or four five years from now but you know you have your Cornerstone defenseman ens slav and he’s locked up for a while and now you get find a way to build it around him Sebastian AO Seth Jarvis Andre sikov P kov so yeah it’s it’s an all around great contract it’s good to see that Jacob slaven is g to be back for a very very long time and the one quote that was really great to see from Eric tolsky when talking about Jacob slaven he said Jacob might be the best defender in the NHL and he has already cemented himself as one of the best players to ever put on A hurricane’s uniform he’s a crucial leader for our team both on and off the ice and keeping him in Carolina long term was a top priority and that’s basically what Elliot Freedman of 32 thoughts said he said that you know the biggest priorities was keeping brenon Moore the next one’s hopefully keeping you know Seth Jarvis for a long time and also extending Jacob slave a long time so now they got two of those things done now it’s now they G worry about grabbing Seth Jarvis for a long for longer term but it’s good to see that Jacob slaven is going to be sticking with the Caroline hurricanes for a long time and is a great contract for both the player because that’s what he wanted and for the team because now they get more flexibility for the next you know at least the next nine Seasons especially a during his new contract so the other player we got to talk about who is coming back to the Carolina Hurricanes from last year’s team is Jordan martinuk and he’s coming back for a three-year deal at $3.05 million and that is honestly a really solid deal all things considered when you look at you know what Jordan marck was making with the hurricanes before in the fact that you know he got the Mone he deserve but also still fits within what the team need do as well they had if you it’s not overly bad in terms of what you know you go from to like I said it was a three-year 5.4 to now it’s a year 9.15 so not a huge jump in terms of the actual value and even the a look like a 1.8 to 3.05 so overall that’s a pretty solid deal for Jordan Martin the fact that you’ve got him for the next three seasons another key piece to your leadership core he’s an assistant Captain a lot of the guys love him bigest H man for the team a glue guy as well and it’s good to see that you locked up leader in Jordan martinook and he’s going to be here for a long time too and now you look at your third line your third Line’s locked up again for another couple Seasons where you know at least this upcoming season with jper fost going into his last year of his deal but also you got Jordan Stall on his new contract for four years and you got Jordan Martin for his three so you at least you have twoth thirds of your third line locked up for the next two three seasons and it’s good to see that Jordan marck is G be with the Hurricanes long term as well so you you got two key pieces from your leadership coreback you know deals that both work for both players and the team you know not a lot so you take that extra you know $3 million 50,000 off of Jordan martinook now you got him locked up and you know it’s it’s something that kind of benefits the team with the flexibility like I said and leadership’s pretty much intact and you got your shut down third that shut down third line that we’ve seen for the last couple Seasons that’s worked now you got them reunited for another few seasons so it’s good to see the Jordan Martin next coming coming back luckily he didn’t leave with all the other guys that left but so far you know in terms of guys who got extensions or got resigned to the team you can’t go wrong with Jacob slaven and Jordan martinook now we’re still Wi on the rfas and stuff like that they just got qualified offer on Sunday so we still got a lot of time for the RFA so don’t worry something with Seth Jarvis and all them are going to be taking care of it’s just you know the big priority was the ufas But Eric tski said you know ear uh later on Monday was that now they’re going to start pivoting towards the restrictive free agents so we’ll see how that plays out so those are all the guys that are staying in Carolina now we get to talk about the guys who are coming to Carolina as the new faces to the team but before we get into all that we have to step away real quick and talk about FanDuel which we’ll do here in a second on a Tuesday edition of locked on hurricanes all right guys we got to talk about FanDuel and you know me I love sports and I know you love sports too that’s why you come in listen to the podcast we all don’t want Sports to stop we never want them to but with the fact that the angel playoffs are done we’re more so into like the baseball season NASCAR WNBA soccer’s going on and stuff like that too so there’s still Sports going on but in terms of hockey unfortunately we are officially done for right now until later this fall but but the thing is with FanDuel it can let me and you keep the sports going whenever we want and all we have to do is open up the app and dream of the bets that fit at any time that we want to make them and this summer FanDuel is hooking up all customers with a boost or a bonus daily that’s right there’s something for everyone every day all summer long so head over to fanduel.com lockon and start making the most of your summer FanDuel official Sports Bank partner of major League [Music] Baseball welcome back to a segment two of locked on hurricanes your team every day now we get to jump into the new guys that are coming over the Carolina Hurricanes we actually have five new players joining the team and early on you are kind of seeing okay there’s some depth signings and stuff like that which is fine you know you kind of need some depth guys to have on the roster and stuff like that especially with a lot of guys moving off at the you know at the same time but as the day progress you kind of see like okay okay there’s this there’s some deals you can kind of you know jive with and the fact that there’s some splashes later on to fill some holes that were left by the guys who are leaving so it was really good to see the fact that yeah you work you were working on your depth that you needed but you also later on the day got the needs that needed to be filled with guys who were departing and now you got guys who are coming in to fill those roles so starting off you know one of the earlier guys that were picked up by the hurricanes around two o’clock or so the first one was Eric Robinson the left Winger he signed for a one-year $950,000 deal you know played you know most recently with the Buffalo Sabers also with the Columbus Blue Jacket so you know someone that can he who adds phys who adds a physicality and also does have a little bit of speed that could help with the team and you know someone who can contribute offensively but it’s going to be more looked that as a guy who’s going to bring a level of depth to the team so it’ll be very to see what the Hurricanes do with Robinson um but it’s good to see you know the fact that you know they got someone that could work out for the team terms of you needing a fresh body or someone that is just able to help out with the team overall so it’s good to see like one of your depth guys kind of early on was Eric Robinson so not a bad deal all things consider the fact that a million dollars now the other guy they picked up not too long uh also not long after that uh is going to be uh Tyson Jose who signed to a one-year $775,000 deal and he’s coming with Eric Robinson from Buffalo you know former year 2016 first first round pick by the KY avalan she’s only 26 years old but it’s G be interesting to see what Jose does because he is a guy who can play a variety of roles and the thing of the fact that the versatility that he brings to the Carolina Hurricanes will help bolster the depth as well for next season now last year he did play some games with the Buffalo Sabers also played a good handful of games with the rockchester Americans who are their affiliate so he did kind of Bounce Around up and down the lineup of course as the Buffalo Sabers they were kind of having a weird year overall in terms of guys being sent back and forth from Buffalo to rockchester so Jose did see time on both sides but overall you kind of know what you kind of get out of this guy like I said play a lot of variety of roles very reliable just a versatility that could help the team in certain situations so I’m curious to see what he does and like I said his contract $775,000 you’re talking about two guys from Buffalo now former Sabers who now with the hurricanes and you got them both under under a million dollar so definitely some good depth peaches early on in terms of you know helping the team out in that certain ways as well well and as the day progress you kind of see like more names are leaving and stuff like that who who you’re hoping to get at and then it turns into a huge Splash time for the hurricanes and the fact that around 4030 4:30 in the afternoon and you know the fact that you know Brett pesy did go to the New Jersey Devil which we’ll talk about in segment three this was a huge get for the hurricanes on the right side and for the fact that it’s a right shot defenseman who can actually play on both sides so that he his main area is the right side but he also can play the left and that is Sean Walker 29y old defenseman signed a five-year 3.6 million deal and I would say you know you’re talking about a skilled offensive defenseman really great at carrying the puck knows how to create scoring opportunities and he knows how to score some goals too and and you know when you look at how he played for the Philadelphia Flyers on their second de pair you know you saw what he can do you saw that he can score and you he’s also someone who is really great on the penalty kill as well so you’re talking about someone who can replace Brett pes’s penalty killing abilities while also finding ways to score goals and creating chances so you’re looking at a guy whose time on ice right now is is a second you know second pair but can score goals knows how to finish really well doesn’t take a lot of penalties really good on the PK so you could definitely use them on their second D pair you know throw them on the PK units as well you know you got Jacob slaven possibly pk1 you might get Sean Walker pk2 so overall a really great deal for the Hurricanes you know you’re looking at 3.6 you got him for five seasons I don’t really see what how you can be really upset with that type of contract you get you got a guy who’s 29 only takes up 4.01% of your cap you know you got him for Four Seasons you know along with him Jacob slav whose contracts going to be for you we got nine more years of him you know we’re go you know Jaylen shaffields locked up for the next three seasons at $3 million we’re gonna talk about another guy who was just picked up in frany for the Hurricanes who’s going to be with the team for three seasons so in ter terms of you know after this year with Demetri orov and Brent Burn’s contracts expiring you still got four guys that are going to be locked up for the Hurricanes for at least the next three seasons so honestly a really great pickup to get Shawn Walker so like I said five years 3.6 you can’t be upset about that and then as they kept progressing progressing then around 7 730 you kind of see that another big hit came and of course it was kind of well known earlier in the day that you know it was being reported that that the deal was going to be done but it wasn’t officially confirmed until 7:30 Monday night but Shane gses bear is coming back to Carolina for a second time now for every we remember they did we did get you know ghost or ghost bear in the 2023 NHL trade deadline and that was you know for a pick so you get and you saw you had 10 points in 23 games you know was a power play specialist for the Hurricanes kind of jump started that did pretty well in the in the postseason as well and for me it’s like okay you saw what he did in a very short s with the Hurricanes now you’re giving him a full off season a full training camp in a full year to kind of get used to the system and now you got him locked up for three seasons so like I said he’s the other guy that you have up for three seasons so now you got shaffield ghost walker and slaven all locked up for the next three seasons at least combined that is a solid if you want to say that when when orov and burns do drop you know their contracts do depart you have a solid top four in chatty slaven you know ghost and Walker and like that type of contract it’s still three years at $3.2 million you’re talking about a guy who’s a really you know smooth skater quarterbacks the power play really well and he’s got exceptional passing abilities but the thing is he knows how to shoot pucks he knows how to score goals and he will shoot he will shoot the lights out of a place and you look at a season he had with the Detroit Red Wings in the fact that with how he played he had 10 goals 46 assists or 56 points in any1 games now yes is he was a mind where it’s like he’s not known for his defense very much he’s not really a physical player but you want someone like that who’s a Brady sha replacement of he’s just going to shoot the lights out and score goals so yeah he did have a little bit less than what Bray Shay had but he had more assists more points and you’re coming in at 3.2 which you’ll gladly take if you’re the Carolina hurricane so yes it’s un it’s honestly I think it’s a great deal for the fact that you picked up those guys and Walker and gossip bear you kind of got your brace J and Brett PES your Replacements and you know talk about the current you know the contracts they gotten for you’ll take that if you’re the Carolina Hurricanes like I said you get 3.2 for Ghost and then you got Shawn Walker for 3.6 you’re talking $6.8 million for two guys nothing you really be upset about that the other contract that hasn’t really been official yet but it’s basically 99% done it just hasn’t been officially official yet by the team and that is William Kier the left Winger that’s now this contract is very surprising I didn’t really see this one coming in terms of what it actually is it is a six-year $2 million per he’s essentially your quintessential fourth line replacement of Steph n an analytical darling really good at what he does you know does play a good game does have know how to score it when needed and stuff like that I don’t know if he’s going to be on the Special Teams like how Steph n was but you’re talking about a guy who’s gonna play really solid fourth line minutes who can really be a clutch guy for you in the long run and like I said for the fact you got him for $2 million is good but six years I was kind of surprised by that but I guess you kind of want to have someone who’s going to be there for a long time and who knows like say four years from now you know you’re looking at four years left with $2 million you know maybe something changes and you could still be able to move on from that contract so I can see why they gave him the term you know maybe it’s the you know he’s going to be here for a long time but maybe something changes who knows you can still move on from it but overall though can’t really complain about that deal you like I said six years two million per so there you go that’s what you got for Willam carer but that will you know be all the new faces on the Hurricanes like I said we’ll do a lot more deep dives into these guys as the week progresses over the next week or so it’s just this episode like I said just a lot of recapping of like who’s coming who’s staying and stuff like that now the guys who are going we got to talk about that because there’s a lot of guys that left and I know there a lot of fan favorites so we’ll have to talk about the guys who we are saying fwell to here in a second on a Tuesday edition of lockdown hurricanes welcome back to a Tuesday edition of lock on hurricanes your team every day this is for Segment three of the show and now we get to say farewell to a bunch of hurricanes that people were hoping that would stay but unfortunately are not um you know we knew kind of early on Sunday that the Carolina Hurricanes traded the rights of you know Jay gensel because you know it came out you know he you know Tuesday and Wednesday asked for an 8 by8 after the hurricane set you know the Hurricane’s initial offer were 7.75 Jake gensel came back with eight they matched it Thursday and then Saturday you know things changed and you know gel you know wanted to go test free agency so the Carolina like okay fine we’ll just trade your rights and we’ll get an asset back so we’re not getting you now way you’re not leaving for nothing and that’s where they got the 2025 third round pick uh Jay kenel did sign with the Tampa Bay Lightning for seven years at $9 million I know it’s a lot different from his 8 by eight but of course he can get the eighth year because he wasn’t with Tampa last year and you know with the you know he got a million dollars more also being a taxfree state you know he’s he’s gonna get a lot more of his money in terms of what the base looks like a lot of it is under three million with the live of being a million dollars for the Bas this whole contract is basically in signing bonuses so it’s basically buyout proof in a sense so that’s kind of where you’re looking at in terms of Jake gensel he does go to Tampa Bay 7 by9 signing bonuses out the Wazoo it sucks how it worked out man you know the Carolina really wanted to keep him but sound like he really wanted to go play in Tampa and yeah so at least you got something out of it with the trade and it’ll be very interesting to see you know the first couple you know the first game when Tampa Bay is in town and Jay gensel is going to be on the ice so that’ be a interesting interesting thing thing to watch now this this is probably the start of the woods that are really starting to hurt for the fans and this one is uh Tavo terrain and he’s actually going back to the Chicago Blackhawks um he was part of a trade back in 2016 and you know now it’s one of those things where he played the last eight years in over 550 games for the Hurricanes but he does go back to the team that drafted him in where he won a cup back in 2015 he signed a three-year 5.4 million deal with the Blackhawks essentially keeping his aav the same he didn’t really take a dip so it’s basically the same amount of money it’s just a three-year term it’s going back to Chicago so you know gota you know wish turbo nothing the best it stinks to see that he’s not going to be in Carolina longer but at least you know he’s going back to a place that he’s familiar with and a lot of fans are excited about it so you know A’s going back to the Western Conference so you’re not really going to see Tavo a whole lot outside of the two times a year that we go get to go play them in Chicago and then Chicago comes to Carolina so they should get to see them one time you know in Carolina but that was kind of one of the first ones that kind of hurt early on was the fact that you don’t have Tav terraine anymore and as the day progress you know we got some of the you know death guys coming in and then around 2:30 the first of two New Jersey Devil announcements came in as Brett peshy went to the New Jersey Devils on a six-year $5.5 million now this one I understand why it kind of hurts her fans the fact that last year the Hurricanes offered a five by five five by five and a half and stuff like that unfortun didn’t work out and from what it sounds like is the Hurricanes weren’t fond of the term of the six year yeah you see you know a half a million dollars it’s not that much okay what’s a one-year difference I can kind of see where they the hurricanes could come from in the terms of it was a d year for peshi analytically he was okay most of the time not much and like I said just production kind of dropped off a little bit and I guess just the fact of what the money he wanted and how long it was I think it just didn’t really work right for the hurricanes and you when you look at what they got with Shan Walker you got a guy who’s really good on the right side for you know under three and a half so you’re kind of saving money that way because you’re looking at the guys you have to bring back for the rfas and all your other ufas that are coming up in later season so it’s just one of those things where it’s just the term the term didn’t really work out for the Hurricanes I don’t think the money was the issue it’s just it was just too much of a long term but you know at least Brett’s going to be closer to home because he’s from Terrytown New York so he’s going to be a little bit closer and he’s going to be with in New Jersey reuniting with you know former teammate douge Hamilton and Eric kala so you you got that going on um nothing but the best for Brett stinks to see him go you know he’s been with the Hurricanes his entire C up to this point so it’s just it’s GNA be weing that single number 22 and Old Blue Eyes back there on the blue line because you used to seeing with Jacob slaven and then Brady Shay now the other one uh unfortunately did happen too this is a three-year deal that is $2.75 million per season and this is Steph n um n did play with the New Jersey Devil was a one point in his career so he’s going back to New Jersey for a second stint you know he deserved a really huge raise he was making under a million dollars you he knew he was going to make money and I guess it just felt like he was going to get what he wanted with the Devils at 2.75 not really sure where the hurricane stood on that but it’s just one of those things man it’s you know you you knew there’s G be some turnover and you know you were kind of hoping that Steph n would stay because he was the down front presence guy but in the end just didn’t really work out for him staying in Caroline now he’s going to New Jersey with Brett and he’s back with a former team that he was with and now you got four former hurricanes with New Jersey Devil so be interesting to you know play those two multiple times this season but you gotta give well wishes to Brett and Steph n uh on their move moves and then the last guy we are going to be talking about because basically everything else after that was basically guys who were being signed the last one we have to talk about real quick before we wrap the show is Brady Shan he’s going to the Nashville Predators for a seven-year $7 million contract and you know this one is you know this one’s a tough one too because you’re kind of hoping he would day um you do get that replacement in Shen gopar for Bray sh in terms of being the power play specialist being that offensive defenseman you really need and you kind of knew that he wanted somewhere six and a half to seven million I’m probably assuming for the fact that it was a seven-year deal I think it a little bit too much for the Hurricane’s blood and you look at the dollar out between Shay and peshy you’re talking well over 1225 million for both of those guys you’re talking about 12 and a half million dollars for both of them but you look at Jaylen Chatfield seaan Walker and Shen gosis spare under $10 million for those three guys I can kind of see where the Hurricanes like yeah we know you want the money but we’re we just can’t tie up 12 and a half between two guys they went resigned shayon Chapel for 3 by3 and then got Shane gosses bear for three years at his deal and then he got you know Shawn Walker at five for his and you got three guys locked up for Less than10 million instead of two guys for 12 and a half it’s it’s a business and unfortunately the Hurricanes got to find money where they need to we knew the cap the cap situation was going to be something where the Hurricanes had to get you know creative with it and they still got over $10 million in c space and that’s where you kind of get it where you have you know Shay leaves for seven Brett leaves for five and a half but you got three guys locked in for under 10 with Chatfield gosip bear and Walker so it’s you got to do what’s best for the team and unfortunately it’s you know gota wish Brady the best in turn he’s joining you know Jonathan Marsh or so and Steven Stam Coos which is still crazy to think that Steven Stam Co is a natural predor now but you know Nashville loaded up Brett got the Brady got the money that he wanted he got that by seven I’m assuming the I knew the Hurricanes did offer Brady a you know oral livees deal where it could have been two by 7.75 but I guess Brady really wanted the term and I just like just the same thing with the vins and tro deal where he woned seven by seven hurricanes didn’t want to give him that so that’s another 7 by7 contract the Hurricanes didn’t really want to give up and you know just like Tim L and BR Shades in the Western Conference you’ll see him twice a year once in Nashville once in Carolina of course we play them in the preseason but it’s just one of the things where it stinks to see him go as well but you know God wish nothing but the best for those guys who left you know you got you know two guys going to New Jersey one going to Chicago one going to Nashville and then you know Jay gensel is going to Tampa Bay but you know hopefully wish not the best for the guys but really excited for the new faces that came in too and of course you got to be excited for the Jordan Martin in Jacob slaven you know resigns in the contract extensions but let me know what you think in the comments what did you think about all the contracts that were given up by the hurricanes with all the new guys that are coming in and the returning face of Shane gosis bear what do you think of the Jordan martinook resigned contract and of course the Jacob slaven extension and then you know just let me know what you how you feel about the guys who left and you know you know it things to see them go but you know got wish them nothing but the best but that will wrap up a Tuesday edition of lock on Hurrican K I know we didn’t dive a lot into the certain players specifically like I said this was more of a just a recap of day one what contracts were signed which guys were coming to the Hurricanes which guys were leaving and stuff like that so like I said over the next few episodes we’re going to try to deep diving into more of the of each player there are coming to the hurricanes and stuff like that so make sure to keep an eye out for that if you want to follow me and keep up everything that’s going on 1. I'm in the weird place of being sad about the guys who left, and also pretty happy with the resignings and new acquisitions 🤷.

    Question for ya Zach:
If Carolina was planning to try and keep Jake for an 8for8 but didn't, do you think they might be willing to use any or all of that to try and keep Marty now?
