BOBBY MARKS TRADE MACHINE: The Los Angeles Lakers’ potential moves | NBA Today
Nico Harrison created the space to be able to bring in Klay Thompson and that’s not something that we saw necessarily Rob pinka do so I want to bring in our salary cap expert Bobby marks because Bobby if LeBron looking here if he takes the full Max this season it puts the Lakers over the second apron that big scary term what exactly does that mean how did the Lakers avoid it what are they trying to do here yeah Malik the second apron is at 189 right now they’re at 190 it’s most important that they’re below that second apron when we get to February doesn’t have to be right now I think when you’re looking at from the Lakers perspec there’s certainly a lot of avenues as far as they can go I think one of them is certainly when we look at a player like Christian wood if you feel like you can’t make a trade you can wave Christian Wood and stretch his money out over 3 years that would save you $2 million and that would get you under the second apron you could do that right now if you want but it’s all about getting under by the end of next year next year a couple things about the apron just so we’ve got some clar ification here the Lakers can still even though they’re over can still trade D’Angelo Russell and Ru hachimura together as long as they are below that 189 number it’s the post transactional number as long as they get by below that they can’t take back more money right now so they’re pressed right at that second apron why it’s important that they’re under when we get the februaries if they are over their 2032 first round pick becomes Frozen they won’t have the ability to trade that next year and Rob pinka has said that they would look into trading those future firsts if the right deals or future picks rather if the right deals come to fruition in order to continue to maximize around LeBron if we could bring wo back into the conversation here W what Avenues are the Lakers exploring to try to upgrade their roster uh Mark mentioned it it’s a long summer free agency the offseason just started a lot of deals um take time you’ve got GMS and team president who are going to be in Sacramento for summer league they’re going to be in Las Vegas for summer league and you typically this is how you see free agency go you see a bunch of moves right away and then it slows down um and that’s what’s happening in the marketplace now there’s there’s a few months before the season starts there’s a trade deadline in February uh but it’s not all going to happen at once and the Lakers have 15 players on their roster right now that is extremely limiting for for them Bobby described uh the salary cap limitations and so uh I I think this is going to be uh something that plays out over time but you know there may be a world where there are really no significant upgrades from the group that the Lakers have right now uh but they’ll keep talking all summer [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] to
Bobby Marks breaks out his famous trade machine to discuss what the Los Angeles Lakers can do to both get better and avoid the penalty of being above the 2nd apron.

Trade Bronny for Giannis since he’s the greatest draft pick of all time.
Two players that are getting paid more than 70% of the salary cap is criminal
No team wants to help the Lakers get better…
I am in literal tears.
Why is there so much focus on a play in team?
Bron picking up max contract has put the nail in the coffin.
Why do we always talk about salary cap with the lakers but Boston making all these moves
On hand some Lakers fan are insufferable bandwagon Clueless lemmings. They are the monkeys that jump around when they heaed Westbrook was going to the Lakers and then this freaks are the same people that will point fingers withiut knowing whos fault it really is.
Trade D Lo, Rui, Austin Reeves and 3 first round picks for Trey Young and Clint Capela therefore AD can move back to the 4 and Clint play the 5 and also Lakers will have they big 3 with 🧊 Ice Trey 🧊, 👑 LeBron 👑 and AD 👍
Play in loading 🤣🤣🤣
Can they just replace her with ai already
Get demar!
Totally off subject….
Which team is better 2013 Lakers or 2023 lakers
Bron shoulda been a cavalier and get out that hollyweird state them fans don’t like him anyway
One of the most underachieving, over hyped, average franchises to garner this much media attention. They'll be 43-39 at best, but are talked about so much you'd think they're in contention to break the Warriors win record
They can’t do that.
They can’t put contracts together in a trade they are a 2nd apron team.
They could have just not resigned LeForehead
Also, enough laker talk. They're not going nowhere next year
Lakers finna have a 41-41 record this season 😂
Lakers got Bobby Marks trying to figure something out
Kyrie Irving chose Dallas over LA.
Klay Thompson chose Dallas over LA.
LeBron tried to recruit both Kyrie and Klay to LA, but there’s one common denominator: stars don’t want to play with LeBron James.
