Why the Browns are Being Projected to Finish Last in the AFC North in 2024 – Sports4CLE, 7/9/24

is from The Bleacher Report predicting teams that will finish last in each NFL division AFC North they say the Browns are finish in last they have the Bengals at 11- six the Ravens 10- s the Steelers 9- 8 and the Browns 8- n though the Browns made the playoffs last year How can any objective pundit confidently pick them to make back-to-back postseasons with a quarterback who has struggled on the field and with injuries I think the Browns quarterback situation with jamus Winston’s better than the Steelers but I digress yeah um I actually have an article coming on about tomorrow a response to this exact thing from Bleacher Report and author Maurice Moten and he hangs his uh his argument on two players one as you could guess is Deshawn Watson and uh to your point that he was talking about the injuries well you’re insulated the Browns are worried about that as well that’s why they go get jamus Winston and he wants to point out the fact that they he’s only had 59% completion percentage to 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions over 12 games but what he leaves out of that argument and we’re talking about winning here is the Browns are eight and four over those games they’ve proven they can win with him they would have been a playoff team with DeShawn Watson last year playing at that level so to me that that that doesn’t doesn’t hold waight his other player that he hangs it on is Nick chub which to me is a valid argument we don’t know what version of Nick chub we’re going to get when we’re going to get it or how the Browns are going to handle his workload that that is an enigma we but the Browns won without running the football last year so it’s hard for me to believe that you know those two players if the season hinges on them well if that’s the case what they did last year was inexplicable because they didn’t have Watson for 11 games and chub for 15 they still were able to win 11 games and moreover they had 28% of their salary cap on IR including starters like Grant delpit and Jack honin jedric wills and they were still able to to reach the playoffs and if you’re looking at you know making a projection you basically need to see which teams are ascending in which teams are descending if you look at the Browns roster objectively the amount of talent the the age of the nucleus of the team the foundation has been built and you see anything other than ascending team I think you’re lying to yourself well the other thing is Joe burrow has missed two of his seasons in the NFL with season ending injuries Lamar Jackson was healthy last year the previous two he missed the final four games including a playoff game so here’s the thing guys quarterback in the NFL they get injured that’s that is a hazard of playing the position yeah and Joe burrow got injured last year and they had decent play from their backup quarterback and they didn’t make the playoffs they still finished that last you know so I just at some point you have to recognize the overall level of talent and the fact that water Finds Its level when you look at those two facts there’s no way Cleveland finishes last in this division this year

  1. "The Browns QB situation is better than the Steelers"
    Complete Homer remark.
Russell Wilson, as bad as you think he is, is better than DeShaun Watson.
DeShaun Watson is currently the worst starting QB in the AFCN and that's not even a debate.

  2. Clown azz people. Hope Browns shut everyone up. Tired of these clowns hating on Browns. They need Browns to lose. They been making fun of Browns for years and rightfully so but this isn't the same Browns of all those years. Go Browns

  3. I am not predicting that. But it is a very fair prediction. The browns fully intend to start the 3rd best qb on their own roster. That would mean they have the worst starting qb in the division by a mile. Qb is the most important position on the team.

Your logic with Watson is flawed. Here is why. Last year they did win with Watson. They did not win because of Watson. Early in the season our defense was possibly the best I have ever seen. They are the primary reason we won those games. It wasn’t Watsons spit sputter and stall ball that won for us. Late in the season the defense faded drastically. Flacco came in and played, ironically enough, Jameis Winston ball leading the league in passing week in and week out with tons of yards and TDs (and ints). If Watson had been playing those weeks with his spit spitter and stall ball, the browns likely would have ended the season with a terrible losing streak with that average defense.
