Detroit Lions David Montgomery Said THIS about Jahmyr Gibbs!
I want to get to this Dave Montgomery interview which he sat down it was a podcast Iowa State podcast basically and uh he joined and talked about some things regarding the Detroit Lions let’s get to David Montgomery’s quotes from that podcast and we’ll give our thoughts on them but here it is as a push and a pull for you no question no question I think a lot of you know the people in the outside world they want to do like comparison comparison like he should be this and I should be that like but no actually like I don’t think it works as well if we don’t have each other you know and um like understanding that like some a lot of times competition brings the best out of you like I look at jir like he is a an electric player you know he going to be a good player great player for a long time but it’s like you said like I know I’m damn good too like yeah like it ain’t no I’m going in the year six it ain’t no like I’m just going to take it back nah that ain’t that like I If if anything I’m going to push myself so that I can push him to be closer to what he capable of being and him being exactly who he needs to be for himself and him his capabilities to be his expectations that’s enough to push me to say like I got to go harder like like I have to like I can’t just I can’t I can’t just fold and just after all the work that I put up into my life just to say it’s competition now just fold nah that ain’t even how I’m built so like it’s great competition and like you said like it’s a pushing the pool at the same time like it’s not one of them things where like it’s me versus jir and like I have to be way better than him no it’s like he pushing me I’m pushing him like I want him to be better I want him to like reach his full potential and with him reaching his full potential he going to help me be better as a human so like if I don’t have him here pushing me the way that he pushed me then I may not even scratch the surface of the possibilities of what I can be like if jir wasn’t here last year who knows if I would have did exactly what I did you know what that sounds like I love that video I mean it just sounds like what I’ve been screaming from the rooftops don’t forget about David mgy I’m talking to you clsy I’m talking to you go ahead what what do I keep saying Jeff jir Gibbs top five David Montgomery top 10 I’m not forgetting about DeMont you I do think everything that David Montgomery said in that video is spot on it’s 100% correct but then you get inide those 60 Minutes those four quarters you get in close games and you have Jamir Gibbs late in the season it’s gonna be hard to put not put jir Gibbs out there because he can just take it the house at any point on the ground and through the air I I think the the mindset my first thought of this because I honestly I turned like I was originally a month ago I was on The Classy side I remember about there was about a month ago remember Jeff or couple couple weeks back I said hey we have to stop we have to stop sleeping on David mountgomery because what he can do it’s like if you put him on another team he’s an rb1 instantly you have two running back ones in your in your room right now so for me my first mindset when I hear this thing and and I went and clipped it I was like I we have to share this on the show is I we have to stop just looking at this like is a one-way Street in my opinion I think everyone’s just like hey jir Gibbs jir Gibbs is about to break out yeah we know that we know the talent jir Gibbs has I don’t think anyone’s denying it we saw it down the stretch but this is a this is a running back Duo this isn’t a one-headed monster this is a two-headed monster that the Detroit Lions have instead of looking at it as oh Jamir Gibbs is about to take over no you have two of the best running backs in the NFL on your offense you’re gonna find a way to to to to even this out and you’re GNA find a way for both of them one I think the biggest thing that people are leaving out in in like klyy in like people who are saying oh jir Gibbs is going to get every t what you’re leaving out is you want these guys to stay healthy for 17 games plus the playoffs and for that to happen and the smartest thing to do whether whether or not jir Gibbs is going to be a dog and he’s going to break out and and you need to get the ball in his hands you need him to be healthy down the stretch so the fact you have two running back ones on your team you split carries you split touches you have 20s something weeks of healthy football from both of them and D DeMont said it in mini camp he did the interviews and uh Jeremy is coming on so I’m sure he could even tell you because he was there but he he specifically said deont did was that we’re able to kind of go into this season knowing we could split carries and make sure we stay healthy unlike last year when he miss you know one of them missed three games the other missed four games and and they’re sitting out in games when like you don’t have to do that so I think like you that mindset like yeah Jim or Gibbs dude he could have the same amount of touches last year and he’s probably gonna have 300 more yards because he’s gonna get that much better like and in this offense is GNA get more molded around him but saying being like hey take everything away from deont and let’s give jir the ball more more more more you have to you have to keep the defense on their toes you have to keep both of them healthy you have something in your back pocket that no one else has in the NFL and that’s two of the best running backs in the NFL there has never been again like I said yesterday there has never been two 10,00 yard running backs and an a thousand yard receiver in the in NFL history that’s never happened you have Amed R st Brown who’s every year going to be a lock for a thousand yards and now you have 2,000 yard running backs this is It’s unheard of to have that I mean I know a guy who can probably carry linebackers into the end zone it’s this guy right what are we doing I mean what look at this guy so this is my thing and and this is why deont gets 10 plus touchdowns again A lot of people are gonna say no no no Jamir Gibbs is gonna get the ball in the in goal line you’re giving this guy the ball in the goal line because I’ll tell you what jir Gibbs it might be flashy and he’s going to get you in the end zone one or two plays Dion is a guarantee put his head down and he’s not going down until he’s in the end zone it’s like 100 it’s 100% guarantee there’s no like 90% it’s 100% yeah I and and again I I I and I’m not faulting Lucas or any others that believe in in jir to that extent to where he could be very very very very good because he has all the potential so like I it’s not even about that I just I think this backfield will be more balanced than people think I I said it about 55 45 6040 like 6040 I think would be the most 60 in favor of jir I I don’t think it’s gonna be this like like demon said he’s taking a back seat like that he’s a uh they’re they work well together because they both do things differently their strengths are different and they keep like you you said it earlier Bo I think it’s the best point probably to make they keep each other healthy which goes against my line of thinking but also I’m in this situation you have two great backs like you got to use them like I know I always say when you draft a running back you use them but when you have two great running backs you got to use those running backs like if you didn’t have demon I would say yeah give jir all the carries in the world yep I mean I mean they got both of them you know so gota use both of them he had 30 more carries in than Jamir last year my my guess that gets a little that gets closer if not maybe a little bit so like but you can’t sit here and take away touches from deont because because it’s not like he hasn’t not produced he still produces and he’s still going to be like I like I said a couple weeks ago like he’s probably going to start the game he’s probably going to be the guy out there on first down you’re handing the ball off you’re you’re you’re as shiot said you’re K of cow bell back that’s gonna you know start the game and set the tone get David mountgomery hot let him heat up and then you know you know what jir Gibbs is gonna do he’s G was gonna go out there and produce so now you get them both going and and defenses can’t stop that so and and again I don’t want to take it away because I was on the jir Gibbs side back you know a month or two ago my my point still stands I think jir Gibbs is a top running back in the NFL like when it comes Talent yeah I get it when it comes to Talent he’s top five it’s just more so is you have another top 10 running back in your building and you would be dumb not to use him yeah I agree I mean you use Montgomery to wear defenses down and when they’re tired you put jir out there and he just makes him pay I mean it’s like they complement each other very well and they’re running behind this offensive line so and there’re an offense that wants to run the ball establish play action keep defense as guessing like this run game is ridiculous and even how they used jir last year he was second in the NFL in 20 plus yard Gaines so yeah you’re GNA give him some more carries but like how they used them I mean the dude almost had 1,000 I mean he’s gonna I I think he’ll get a thousand this year if he if he stays healthy which obviously players but if they both stay healthy I think they both have a chance at a thousand this year

3rd and 3 gimme Monty, 3rd and 6 gimme Gibbs
If you don’t think Monty keeps receipts, just go back and watch every touch he had in the first game against DaBears. Every yard was a fu Chicago! He’s our dog now!
D Mont and Gibbs are like peanut butter and jelly. We are so blessed to have them both.
These two are both dogs, but as David says, don't sleep on him!
And just so he knows NOBODY in the D thinks its JG vs DM. We're just so happy we have you both!
WE LOVE YOU BOTH JUST AS MUCH!!!
LETS GOOOOOOOOO 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Without DMo, Gibbs becomes another Jahvid Best, Amir Abdulluh, or DeAndre Swift.
GO watch D Mont wk #11 he answers any questions about him taking a back seat 100%
They’re both perfect at what they do, the media wants to give Gibbs all the accolades now but, respect D Mo.
2 x 1000+ yard season for our RB's next season.
Caviar and Truffles
Gibbs goin be the future 1 rb bt in mean time let's both of them
David Montgomery is an absolute beast!!!
I love both of our guys! They thrive off off one another! I honestly don't remember a game that both of them didn't have good games simultaneously. Only a few maybe.
DMo is a dawg!
DM is my favorite Lion
alot of you podcasters had him down already after one year with Lions the man ran for over 1000 yards in first year and he missed games he can easily run for 1200 yards this coming season
Monty should get 60% of the load. I've watched almost every play of both before coming to the Lions and Monty can give the Lions much more with more while Gibbs can give more with less. Sometimes Gibbs will be hot so 70/30 split. The same for Monty. Gibbs has only used 1/3rd of what I've seen him do in college. I believe he and Monty took time learning the offense. Hopefully, we are about to learn who they are!
2 is better than 1
David and Jahlyth !! Relentless vs Giant play machine
I love DMont's attitude. He is the epitome of what Brad and Dan have been looking for in character and team first. Anyone who thinks that kind of stuff doesn't matter is being proven wrong right now.
You cannot find or name a better backfield in the NFL! I love we have Montgomery! We are lucky to have him. Most of the time last season it was Monty starting and getting the machine going, with fast starts and moving the chains. Monty will help keep Gibbs healthy.
D mont going to have a breakout season
We aren’t forgetting about you Monty! You’re a freaking dawg and Detroit is blessed to have you!
The TEAM! The TEAM! The TEAM!
LOVE Montgomery's attitude!
sounds like Dan Campbell's voice is echoing in his player's interviews
DON'T FORGET ABOUT DAVID MONTGOMERY! Oh, and he don't fumble. Doink!
Whoever runs this channel …..shove the ads in your ass
Might see both Montgomery and Gibbs hit the 1k rushing this season.
David Montgomery is my favorite Lion and such a class act. I always feel like he is the "Rodney Dangerfield" of running backs as he seems to get no respect and over-looked so often, – yet is a great team player. He & Gibbs are like Thunder & Lightening out there and the best tandem in football.
Don’t forget Gibbs can be used as a WR to get both on the field at the same time.
I heard Kalif say same thing about Saint. He said he watched Saint practiced and knew he had to push harder. This is the culture Dan has built
Nowadays, everybody wanna talk like they got somethin' to say But nothin' comes out when they move their lips Just a bunch of gibbs-erish And motherfuckers act like they forgot about DMont!!
I think they need to put both of them on the field at the same time and throw to Montgomery out of the backfield as well. I think it would drive the other team insane trying to defend that.
