STEVE YZERMAN MAKES HIS FINAL MOVES: REALLY SOLID GRINDER AUSTIN BAKER + FISHER SCOTT

man Stevie y I thought he was predictable before but now he’s keeping it up it’s almost like a meme at this point the wings have finaly their 2024 NHL draft with two picks in the seventh round let’s talk about pick number 203 and we’ll also talk about pick number 208 admittedly it’s tough to find information on 208 but when you go over to 203 the Redwing selected out of the US ntdp Austin Baker this is the third guy the Wings have taken out of this year’s National development program let’s just recap it right here the Red Wings took Max plant they took Austin Baker and they took John Whipple so three wings out of this team you can tell Stevie y does a scouting of this league doesn’t he but when it comes to Austin Baker he’s an 18-year-old 6′ 192 left-handed leftwing guy drafted 203rd but ranked by Craig Button in the 95th overall spot future considerations had him at number 71 mckin had him at 237 which is a lot lower but still this is a guy who had his fans why here’s why for the most part Austin Baker plays a straight line game he uses his speed to push back to defense wins races and occasionally flies down the wings and beats goalies with rers this was one of the role players the buzzsaw likee bottom six Grinders on the US ntdp he had scored himself 31 points in 59 games played 59 goals wasn’t really the most productive guy but he wasn’t really the most played guy he was a depth piece on the team with pretty good skating a great motor and good physicality he doesn’t have the best skills he doesn’t have the best shot but what he does well he does very darn well he works really hard and he makes his teammates lives a lot easier these are the kinds of guys that you win games with sometimes you need these role players to step up big time and find themselves opportunities created out of nothing and Austin baker has done a really good job at capitalizing on those and forcing things to go his way next season he’s playing for Michigan State University so assuming Trey Augustine sticks around I think he’ll be teammates with the guy I’m not too sure yeah so Trey Augustine is there so if there’s a Michigan connection you wanted to force yeah it is right there for the taking so for Austin Baker this is a really good pickup for the Red Wings in the seventh round I like this pick a lot you can never have too many role players and for the Red Wings to draft a lot of guys who have that two-way stability in the first rounds it makes sense that they’re still sticking with this kind of a theme heading into the round of the last one now let’s talk about the last pick that the Red Wings had as well they had the 28th overall pick they selected fiser Scott out of the usl’s debuk Fighting Saints now unfortunately it’s tough to find anything about this guy he wasn’t ranked to go anywhere there isn’t even an elite prospects ringside um right up about about him he’s just a guy that exists 19 years old overage player 61 179 left-handed guy I think if my math serves me correctly is he a double overage player no actually I think he is just a regular overage player but he had scored 33 points in 61 games played this most recent season with the debuk Fighting Saints he’s also heading over to the NCAA playing for Colorado College honestly it’s tough to find anything about fiser Scott and unfortunately I didn’t really watch too many debuk Fighting Saints games but this is an interesting profile of a guy that is a little bit older so he might have a few more years of experience under his belt in comparison to other Red Wings prospects but either way let me know your thoughts in the comment section below about the two Wing seventh round picks Austin Baker with the 203rd overall pick and fiser Scott with the 208 overall pick I hope you enjoyed this vsh asol 99 and bye
