this is the 2024 NHL awards and now the winner of the heart is welcome to an NHL draft like no other we are live at fear Las Vegas it’s pretty cool to actually see it live and in color with the screen and everything it’s amazing few days that’s for sure [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] this is the 2024 NHL awards the Ted Lindsay Award honors the most outstanding player in the league as voted on by his fellow players like these guys and the Ted Lindsay Award goes to Nathan [Music] McKinnon um first off I’d like to congratulate a close friend and teammate uh Andrew calano on a 17-year career uh Happy retirement [Applause] May um to have the respect of my peers uh is is amazing very humbling um you know it’s a true team award hockey the ultimate team sport so like to thank my teammates um ownership the Ki Family Management Joe CAC and uh obviously my family love you guys appreciate [Applause] it I’m thrilled to be joined by all of this season’s winners what a great honor to be surrounded by these great hockey people and now to culminate the incredible 2324 season the winner of the heart is I hope you have a second speech Nathan McKinnon Nathan McKinnon wins his first heart trophy 10 years after claiming the cder trophy as the League’s best rookie um remember to congratulate the other guys this time uh congrats to cooch and Connor uh could easily be any of you guys I think everyone knows it was such a tossup this year so um like to thank the writers uh truly honored some of the my favorite players ever have won this trophy so uh super happy excited uh to share with my teammates obviously team award uh goes without saying like Quinn said you need great players around you uh once again the Kies uh Joe CAC EDI all the coaches my family uh Charlotte appreciate it everything um yeah thank you appreciate it awesome so so happy for him uh proud of him like I like I’ve said Nate’s a a phenomenal hockey player in Colorado and our fans are and all of us really are fortunate to to be able to watch him do what he does on a daily basis and um I know he’s a team first guy and he’s you know he’s about winning and stuff but um you know he he’s deserved it you know he’s a he’s a world class franchise player so I I was really happy to see his name barked out and then you know the Ted Lindsay one is is you know voted on by the players that that’s that’s pretty special too when when you’re voted on by your peers uh that that’s got that was a pretty good night for him and and the organization I think he deserve both Awards and not only for his play but his you know what he puts into the game his commitment his effort um it seems like it all lines up for him and and last year you know individual wise you know you couldn’t get much better so I’m happy for him you know like I said he puts a lot of a lot of time a lot of effort in this game and he he tries to be his best every single day so you know it’s good to see you know guys get rewarded and you know have two Awards like that you know you couldn’t find anything [Music] better welcome to an NHL draft like no other we are live at fear Las Vegas a technological Marvel plop in the middle of the desert the conduit for teenage dreams coming true this is the 2024 NHL draft all right thanks jameo I’ve got uh the general manager of the Colorado Avalanche Chris McFarland my pleasure to have him join me today 2022 Stanley Cup champion GM so Chris uh let me ask you first what do you make of this place the sphere or sphere it’s pretty cool to actually see it live and in color with the screen and everything it’s amazing few days that’s for sure was proud to select from Shad Le Maries R I love carado I think they’re they’re a winning team and that’s the best part about hockey is winning hockey games so when you get to be a part of an organization that does a lot of winning it’s pretty special Colorado’s proud to from Chicago USL [Music] Luka I mean it’s uh it’s just an amazing feeling you know you kind of dream about it your your old life and just do it became true it’s it’s unreal with the final pick in the fifth round walk to Colorado was select next [Music] Cur it feels amazing I’m uh so excited I’m very grateful for Colorado you know I think it was important that we try and recoup uh you know some of that Capital uh that we’ve moved out a lot of in the last few years in you know in an effort uh to try and win which which our teams deserve so it seemed like they did well the process was cool being a part of the the draft and how they make their list and how they kind of project players they had a lot of picks this is probably the the most picks they’ve had in the draft in a long time so you know it’ll be hopefully something we build up K Richie from onario and I was drafted 27th overall of Colorado my name is Sean baren I’m from barington Illinois and I was drafted 60 for his overall in 2021 P Mar uh from Calgary Alberta Canada and I was drafted in 2021 in the sth round one year from now um say like my goal was to be played for the ABS one year from now um but obviously uh I mean I’m just going to try to control what I can control as work as far as I can um it’s up to them an expectation um here and it’s to win every year it doesn’t matter um what happens who’s play and um there’s an expectation to win yourself being a much better player and hopefully being closer to my dream playing with my brother
