2024 Seattle Seahawks Predictions: EDGE Rushers

will quantity be better than quality for the Seattle Seahawks Edge rushers in [Music] [Applause] 2024 what’s up everybody good morning we’re back with another prediction video and we are moving back through the defense yesterday we did the defensive line today we are doing the edge rushers today we are doing the outside linebackers or defensive ends depending on how you want to look at it I kind of look at them as outside linebackers in this defense but it doesn’t really matter that much the point is these are the guys who Rush the quarterback from The Edge that is the main thing they bring to the table that is the main thing they need to be able to do to be effective so the Seattle Seahawks are trying to win this particular battle using quantity a little bit more than quality because they have an edge rusher room that features I would say at least three players that we we as fans should be pretty excited about should be optimistic about that we like at least theoretically and while that’s great none of those guys look like Superstars none of those guys even necessarily look like Stars they just look like well in two cases very good players and in one case a guy with a lot of potential who we haven’t really seen anything from yet and we’re going to have to see something this year before we make any evaluations but it is a room full of second round Edge rushers all four of these guys were drafted in the second round of the draft at some point uh MAF Hall and Taylor by the team nosu by the Chargers and then he signed a free agency deal with the Seahawks a couple years ago so we’re not trying to make our way through here with a Will Anderson or a TJ watt or a miles Garrett or even really like a joey Bosa khil Mack that kind of an edge rusher we don’t have anybody who’s going to be getting 20 sacks this year or even 15 maybe maybe not even like 13 so we’re going to try to do this by having an allaround quality room and I think it’ll work fairly well obviously it’s not going to work as well as some of the truly Elite Edge rusher rooms out there there are some Edge rusher rooms that win just by virtue of the fact that they have that one killer Superstar but we can find our own way to success before we get into the numbers if you like this video please click the like button down below it helps the channel out subscribe if you’re new click the Bell if you before he got hurt and missed the rest of the season injury doesn’t seem to have lingered but naosu obviously is not some budding super duper Star he’s a very good player occasionally bordering on great he looked great most of the time for us in 2022 but now there’s is going to be a little bit less on his shoulders hopefully because we have better depth at the position MAF is ready to take on a bigger role Hall should be ready to take on some kind of role like literally any kind of role would be more than last year and don’t forget this group technically should include some Draymond Jones I just listed him with a defensive lineman so with that being said I’m not expecting massive stats from nosu I went with 59 tackles which would be a little bit less than he had a couple years ago when he was here I think that’s pretty reasonable I don’t think we’re going to be playing him as much as we played him that year because we can actually afford to rotate more tackles for loss I went with 10 Again roughly in line with what he’s done in his better season so far this year uh in his career and nine sacks I don’t think he’s going to get quite to double digits I don’t think he’s going to be a guy who gets a sack every week or anything like that but I think that that’ll be more because we’ll have other guys on this team that are racing him to the quarterback which was not always the case in previous years when there’s a bunch of guys who are racing to the quarterback only one maybe two guys can be expected to get credit in their stats now I do think he’ll do fine with pressures I went with 31 that would be close to two a game in fact if you assume he misses at least a little bit of time for one reason or another that would basically be two a game it’s not up to the standard that he’s proven that he can live up to at at his best but again there are fewer opportunities when you have other guys you’re competing with on that defense and keep in mind this team should be pretty Blitz heavy this year this team should be blitzing a lot so a guy like nosu is going to lose out on at least a couple of pressure opportunities because somebody else is already at the quarterback that would be a good year for nosu maybe not a pro bowl but we would come away feeling like yeah he’s living up to that contract he’s doing what we need him to do next up we have boy MAF who had a big breakout year last season um it’s really hard to tell if this guy has another notch he can go because if he goes up another notch he might be able to get up to like that 14 15 sack of season type area which looking at him I don’t get the sense that he has the potential of somebody like a Will Anderson Jr but at the same time this is a guy who was relatively new to football when he came out of the draft so he should should be able to get a lot better over these next couple years that’s just like common sense right this is not somebody who’s been playing football since he was a little kid he he transitioned to football relatively late in his athletically developing life so I look at what he did last year and I’m thinking okay I don’t feel like he’s going to do a ton better than he did but then again I feel like he is so this one’s tough um I really like him so I’m going to go ahead and bet on him went with 55 tackles little bit less than nosu I think nosu being a little bit more of a veteran in this league being in the league for longer just has a little bit more spatial awareness and we did see MAF take steps backwards as a run Defender last year as he became more of a pass rusher and I do think that there is a little bit of a trade-off you have to make there when you start asking him to rush the passer a lot like we did last year MAF probably looking at about 13 tackles for loss which I mean hey that would be really good that’d be nice little improvement over last year and we’re going with 12 sacks I think he’s got it I think he can do it it just makes sense this is not somebody who should be capped out now this is a guy who should be able to build on his second-year success to a better third year this might be Pro Bowl level stuff 12 sacks might be Pro Bowl you might even be able to call him a star at the end of the year he has to do it but if he gets to 12 sacks and 55 tackles and by the way I gave him 35 pressures which is more than to a game you’re you’re not TJ watt or miles Garrett but you might be on that next tier and look as someone who’s been a fan of this guy since before we drafted him I think it can happen I would love to see it happen but we got to see it happen that’s that’s what I’m going to say about it so I’m not calling him a star yet but when you put it write it down on paper you write his career Arc as an athlete down on paper It lines up that’s all I’m saying okay next we have Derrik Hall obviously Derk Hall did nothing last year and that has some people concerned I feel like he is going to take big steps forward this year I don’t feel like last year was indicative of a player that is just useless maybe it’s indicative of a player who won’t quite be what we were hoping he would be when we drafted him in the early second round but I do not think that this skill set is going to result in a player who just cannot play this is not going to go the LJ Collier route this is not going to go the to a lesser extent Daryl Taylor route I mean a Taylor’s had good seasons in some regards so I I can’t even really compare to that but Derek Hall should be a good all-around player there won’t be a ton left for him because naosu and MAF will be good enough to stay on the field a lot but Hall’s going to get plenty of opportunities and I think he’ll take decent advantage of them I’m not going to go crazy easy you got to walk first you got to walk before you can run so I went with 29 tackles that’d be little less than two a game six tackles for loss and five sacks I think if he did that we would be like okay he the train didn’t get out of the station as fast as we wanted it to but it’s out of the station now so why complain about it why be upset about it too much um it would have been nice to get something out of him as rookie year you usually don’t see somebody be that big of a non-factor as a rookie but at the same time sometime that that doesn’t change the fact that it happens sometimes and uh pressures I went with 16 which would be just under one a game if you assume that he maybe misses a game then that would be exactly one pressure a game again when it comes to these players on defense I think it would be wise to just assume that they miss a game just kind of the cost of doing business and just rooll with it so pretty decent season from Derrik Hall I think that he’ll be efficient I think he’ll be effective I think he’ll play the run all right it’s just one of those things where sometimes that rookie year gets to you and then we have Daryl Taylor who I’m not convinced is going to make this team but the way the Seahawks have done things I I have to go with my Reed here and my reed is he’s going to be here because we we did that contract thing with him where we didn’t just give him the the tender we actually gave him that oneyear deal that guaranteed him 20 grand I know it’s just 20 grand but why would you do that when you could just tender him for almost the exact same amount unless you had some plan in your head and I would love to say that I think Daryl Taylor can be fixed by Mike McDonald and I’m not ruling it out but Daryl Taylor has been in this league for a while now he is an older player too he was older when he came into this league he was somebody who was like 24 when he was drafted I think or might have been 25 before he played a snap because of that injury so I feel like some of the issues with him are not going to get better and I think he’s ultimately going to get shelved as a player by the end of the season and in December or in January we probably won’t be seeing him very much but he’ll acru some stuff just by being here and being the next guy up when people get hurt when people get dinged up when people get tired so 17 tackles four tackles for l two sacks maybe that’s even a little bit low maybe if he actually played this much he would actually get closer to three or four because whatever you want to say about him he usually gets his sacks he just it it’s not a pretty picture the way he gets them and then I went with eight pressures I I feel like he’s a guy who’s just going to be shelved by the end of the season personally and I don’t know how long they’re going to put up with some of the stuff that he does against the run so yeah that’s everything those are the totals there could be one other guy guy who gets involved but I don’t know who yet and that’s what I got for the edge room and again you you have to remember the draymont stuff is draymont Jones is probably going to be doing some Edge work for us this year uh I don’t know exactly what the splits are going to be I put him with the defensive lineman but it would not Shock me at all if draymont Jones ended up the edge over a guy like a Daryl Taylor maybe even a Derek Hall and he might end up being our first Edge rusher Off the Bench just kind of depends on how some things break it depends on how good Mike Morris looks it depends on how ready Byron Murphy is to take on a big role and it depends on Derek Hall and to a certain extent Daryl Taylor as well if they play really well then maybe we don’t even feel like we need to touch that all right that’s what I have again if we get 28 sacks and 9d pressures from our Edge group in tandem with what we got from the defensive line that’s 50 sacks from just the front not you can’t even say front seven because we haven’t done inside linebackers yet but that would be a defense worthy of Mike McDonald so I think it’ll be one area where this team does very well there are going to be some areas defensively where they do very well I do think they will rack up sacks because of the Personnel they put together um and and these numbers reflected all right I will see you guys later go Hawks let me know what you think down below those are my predictions for the edge players for the Seahawks in 2024

Gotta get to the quarterback.

  1. I don’t know why anyone on this staff would still believe in Darrell Taylor. He’s average at best at rushing the passer and he’s TERRIBLE at run defense.
