2024 MLB Draft: Dodgers pick high school shortstop Kellon Lindsey in first round

[Music] with the 23rd pick of the 2024 MLB draft the Los Angeles Dodgers select Kellen Lindsay a short stop from Hardy High School watula Florida the Atlanta Braves have the next pick a 6’2 Short Stop he was not a day one guy entering the year people don’t look at him that way but he’s the fastest player in this draft class might be uh he some Scouts Dro an 80 grade speed on him he played High School quarterback which means Harold Reynolds has to have a breakdown T oh you know it I mean any kid that’s the high school quarterback is one of Harold’s favorite players you know why because I love the athleticism look he reminds you a lot of Trey Turner when you watch him play his movements his actions on the baseball field very similar to Trey Turner you’re talking about how fast he is he can fly we got a chance to spend some time with him at the combine great hands great Athletics sism you see the how light he is on his feet and just being able to move this shows you guys if you’re wondering how deep is this draft this guy went pretty deep with this kind of athleticism I I think 21 for the Dodgers to get a kid like this that’s that’s pretty good stuff but Greg you know I’m going to break out the quarterback of course I mean he’s given it up now but I you know what I like about that it shows you his well-roundedness of an athlete decision making is what a quarterback has to do what’s a middle infielder do Tony you got to make decisions right no doubt and that’s what I love about this kid do you think he can slide into home play like Trey Turner oh he’s got the prettiest slide in the world I don’t know if anybody can duplicate that Kellen Lindsay to the Dodgers Carlos Kazo what do you make of this pick like like you guys have said he’s one of the most popup players in this class it was not in this range starting the year Florida is actually a pretty down year for high school players he’s the best high school uh Florida Prospect and this is the first first player we’ve had from that state from the high school demographic here so it’s kind of interesting to see that I also think he’s the best defensive Short Stop we’ve had taken in the first round we’ve had a number of Short Stops but he has really great actions hands instincts arm strength I think he’s definitely going to stick there moving board

  3. Love the comparisons to Trea Turner. And another thing I noticed, in an interview I watched from around a week ago… He reminds me of Cody Bellinger. That super chill, sort of slow way of speaking… This kid will be fun to follow in the coming years.

  7. We've got Joandry and Freeland coming up the pipe already. We got Sweeny to for the now. Was there no 3rd basemans or high ceiling lefties to pick from?
    Was this just a: " pick the best talent out there at ANY position" ??
    Im not having a lot of confidence in Dodger's confidence of Joandry n Freeland'l now. Lol
    I mean, i guess its smart, cuz now u have 3 potential SS studs, one has to pan out… Thats what I'm guessing.
    Next year has to be a Pitcher or 3B in the first round?!

  9. Imagine being 18 and having to decide between going to college or signing with the Dodgers for roughly $3.5M. Seems like an easy decision to me. 😀
