PATRICK KANE REVEALS THE DETROIT RED WINGS PLAN FOR THE PLAYOFFS
[Music] ah so isn’t this just great the other day we had ourselves a few interviews done with the Detroit Red Wings and some of the guys that they had given contracts out too and included in this list is the guy whom a lot of wings fans were debating amongst themselves whether or not he’d actually return to Detroit we know the answer now he had signed a one-year deal it’s it’s good it’s sweet it’s short and it is for the legend himself Chicago Blackhawk New York Ranger and now Detroit Redwing Patrick Kane and what I wanted to do in this video was go over some of the comments made by Kane in a recent interview going over his thoughts as to how the wings could fully bounce back in 2024 2025 this is their plan as revealed out here by Kane now to help out let’s go over onto an article published by Bob Duff from earlier yesterday Patrick Kane’s fivepoint plan to get the Red Wings into the playoffs this is a great article because Duff does a really good job at diversifying everything and segmenting it off compartmentalizing it off into each of the five points and because you know five is a nice even number and we’ve got about 10 minutes of footage here we can spend 2 minutes per each of these points okay maybe a little bit less than that now because I’ve been rambling on for a minute and a half but either way let’s let’s go out there and talk about Patrick Kane’s comments and the first thing that he goes out there and labels as to how the wings can make the playoffs we can be better on the power play Kane said I think we can be a top five unit I think that would be a good goal we are may be around 10th actually 9th last year which is still pretty good but I still think we can be even better I think I can be better on the power play as well you look at the numbers I think I had two goals in the power play so I had 18 even strength goals out of 20 which which is you know you feel pretty good but it should be bolstered up a little bit because you should have more success on the power play looking forward to building off of that now I will say it is a little bit interesting to question where the wings will go on their power play when you consider the fact that Chan gopar is no longer on that blue line yes they got Eric Guston to be the quote unquote power play replacement but honestly after watching these guys for a few years I think gosis bear is just a superior player gipson did have that 160 Point Season with Patrick Kane in the Blackhawks a few years ago so maybe there is some sort of a connection that does exist that could be brought back into the spotlight again but Eric Guston the way he had played in Montreal the way he had played in New York the way he had played in all the other teams post Chicago I don’t really see him as being able to get that 40 50 point season like you may expect out of a top power play defenseman quarterback so if there is some sort of a change let’s say it’s I don’t know more it’s cider instead who was on that first unit then okay I do think there’s upwards potential for growth there but at the same time if Patty Kane’s going out there and saying yeah we could be better on the power play I can score more goals in the power play I think I can be better than who’s to go out there and doubt the man right a full off season’s worth of training knowing that he will be a Redwing rather than recovering from surgery and getting a short little training recovery period before immediately signing with Detroit and immediately getting inserted into their lineup it’s just a lot more ideal this time around Patrick Kane then goes out there and talks about the Red Wings being a better group defensively Duff writes here in the article that Detroit must stop leaking goals obviously we feel we can be a better group defensively Kane said that’s always a key component to winning and getting into the playoffs and that’s on everyone right not just the guys that are in that role but everyone needs to play better defensively so I’m sure we’ll go through that as a team and how we want to play in those situations now you can say what you want about Patrick kan’s own defensive ability his foot speed lacking compared to Prior years certainly has hurt him in that respect but still Patrick Kane acknowledging that there is a defensive responsibility that exists in the game for the Red Wings is a good thing I think a lot of people would agree that there is room to go forward with this squad and that part of their team guys that will help out in that respect Christian Fischer of course they brought him back he’s going to be a defensive shutdown guy reportedly Tyler M free agent signing I’ve been such a big fan of him over the years he will help out the defensive capabilities of that forward core especially in the bottom few lines and then hopefully there is some more defensive responsibility and prowess from guys like Dylan Lin Lucas Raymond you would like to see a little bit more out of the brink you would hopefully like to see some of that out of teraso as well and then of course you got the cops and the comers who are pretty good already in that respect so there is room to go around here with defensive play and overall growth with this team but we’ll see where exactly they go in next season’s worth of play another one of the ideas that Patty Kane talks about is the depth for the Red Wings last year when I came I was surprised at the contributions that this team would get from their third and fourth line players here or there it wasn’t like it was so much pressure on one or two guys but there’s a lot of depth on the team so we’re able to fill the net pretty good Duff here writes that depth scoring was a big part of the club success last season even with the departures of players like Robbie fabry who had scored 18 goals David Pon 17 sprung and defenseman Jake Walman they’re still plenty of Firepower top to bottom Dylan Lin had 33 last year Lucas Raymond 31 de brinka 27 Tera senko 23 Kane 20 JT Comer 19 Michael resm 13 Andrew cop Joe valeno each with 13 and 12 they all hit double digits in the gold colum last season and so thinking about that yeah there is some pretty good depth here on this Detroit Red Wings roster and if they’re able to utilize that going forward into the next few months here it will be very beneficial for them and being able to contend and possibly secure a 2025 wild card spot Patty Kane himself acknowledging that certainly is good because it seems like the respect in the room goes all the way around everybody acknowledges the talent level of everybody else and that’s the way you want it to be right moving over on to the fourth point over here this is where things get very interesting improving chemistry with Alex De Brink Kan and debret were a dynamic duo in Chicago there was evidence that they were finding that level of fluidity again in year one of the Detroit experiment I mean yeah I think so for sure Kane said the brink figured in six of Kane’s 20 goals a 30% rate Kane was also good for six assists amongst the 14 goals that the brink would score following Kane’s December 7th debut for the Red Wings that’s a 42.8% success rate and Kane thinks they’ve got much more that they’re capable of delivering we’ll spend some time together this summer and work out and skate together and talk about things and just always try to improve that chemistry Kane said he’s a kid that I like being around off the ice but I still think we have a lot of chemistry on the ice as well and I still think we can be even better so yeah always trying to get to another level oh boy the cane and de branet experiment in Detroit I honestly don’t want to say that it was like the best thing in the world it was a great story for sure but I think that year one left a little bit to be desired with Kane and the brink KET in terms of offensive production and conversion honestly I think a lot of that just has to do with the Bret not being as good as advertised I mean we had talked about this a few days ago in the DU Brink trade return finalized video but even though du Brink scored the same amount of points in Detroit as he had done in Ottawa the year prior I feel like there still is another gear here with this player he can still get better and I don’t know if there are many fans Ottawa or Detroit fans that would disagree with that sentiment the guy was a 40-goal player with Kane in two separate seasons in Chicago he had 70 points in those years as well he was looking lethal the entire year this season he had scored a bunch of goals at the beginning of the season and then just trailed off and even with Patrick Kane’s acquisition he didn’t really bolster himself up in the ways that we thought he could I don’t know heading into next season hopefully that story changes itself rewrite the story right finish the story Cody rhods let’s go on to the fifth and final Point here made by Patrick Kane he is expecting a better version of himself Duff wres for me right now I think the main focus is to just get as ready as I possibly can be for next season to take that step to my game and get to the next level it was a good fit on and off the ice and add opportunities to play in some good situations whether it’s power play or top six minutes maybe I’m leaned on a little bit more by the coaching staff in certain areas or even in the locker room or a leadership role things like that obviously I’m 35 and I’m going to be 36 this year so I’ve been around for quite a bit and I feel like I can bring that leadership aspect to the group and just kind of help the group along whether it’s in the good times or the bad times so for Patty Kane as we’ve been saying this entire time with a full off season worth of training and an opportunity to get himself more chemistry with the guys that he’ll be knowing that he’ll play with rather than guys that he’ll decide to play with at one random day in December there is a lot more opportunity for Patrick Kan to be better in upcoming months the question is though will we see that will we see any of these Five Points come true and will we see the Red Wings make the playoffs let me know your thoughts in the comment section below article will be linked in the description if you want to go ahead and listen to it yourself I hope you enjoyed this Bri 9 First.
I think people really underestimate this team if Kane, Raymond Larkin and Alex, Debrincat can score 30+ goals and Rasmussen can get to that 20-25 goals this year we could be at that 98 point total and depending on first round makeup take at least 2-3 games so don't sleep on the wings we have gotten better every year this year we missed by 1 point we will be better and make the playoffs
5 is a nice even number
"Five is a nice even number." π

Kane sounding like a team leader here. Give him the "A" full time this year.
