[Heyman] News: Yankees are among 6 teams to check in on Blake Snell. While Giants listen, Snell turned in uber dominant performance Saturday (15 K), SF starters are killing it now and they’re just 4 1/2 out of WC. Other complications: NYY in top tax bracket and BS $30M 2025 player option

  1. The 2025 player option is a real problem if Hal is serious about both lowering payroll this winter and retaining Soto.

The Yankees would need to be 100% certain Snell is opting out to acquire him. Cole $36M, Snell $30M, Rodon $28M, and Stroman $18M would be a brutally expensive rotation next year.

  2. At this point I WANT Hal to be hit with the luxury tax. I DEMAND it. Make Starr Insurance pay it.

  3. Probably not the best move, rather give up a shit ton more to get Skubal or Crochett whos cost controlled and give us a better shot at Soto.

I’d do Dominguez and Jones for Foley and Skubal, or Jones for Crochet and Kopech. Adding in other lower tiers obviously.

  4. Wasn’t this same topic discussed last year and we ended up too little too late, once again?

  5. I’ll admit I was one of the Snell bashers and gloaters but it looks like he’s turned it around in a big way.

  6. Definitely shouldn’t be trading for this guy since that just blows up any free money they might have for 2025. Speaking of which, they also should let Cole walk if he goes for his opt out. You’d then have 36M freed up to throw at Burnes, although he’d probably be around 40M.

There’s just no universe I’d rather have age 34 Cole for another 5 years at 36M/year rather than age 30 Burnes for let’s say 9 years at 40M/year.

  7. I don’t get why anybody thinks snell opts out. Man had a cy young year last year couldn’t get shit I am sure he wants to get paid

  8. Are we getting Pete Fairbanks? Snell would be nice but cmon that’s not happening
