I know nichuskin has let us down but I'm hoping he rehabs and comes back at 100%. I'll just throw the link in here for what I was just reading. It's pretty clear the avs are not able to buy out but hopefully they can move forward.(https://coloradohockeynow.com/2024/08/22/russian-national-team-scout-nichushkin-will-be-back-with-avalanche-in-november/)

  1. I hope he comes back 100% and the avs trade him to a bottom dwelling team like Columbus.

2 playoff runs ruined in our window. Cogs and Parise last year. No, get whatever you can and move on.

  2. Not to disparage you from sharing resources but a lot of ink has already been spilt on this topic and this doesn’t necessarily add anything new that hasn’t been (thoroughly) covered.

  3. Anyone actively rooting against Nichushkin can fuck off in my opinion. Minus the human being aspect, a healthy Nuke is nothing but pure gold for the Avs.

Yea the dude has fucked up. Yea he has a lot to prove to the boys in the locker room. However, when healthy and his head is right? He’s one of the best supporting players in the entire freaking league

  4. I want him gone.

There is no solving this, he’s a massive liability, and seriously, anyone that says we can give him a chance, has NEVER played in team sports….

    He’s broken the trust… but worse… TWICE…

    That’s unforgiveable.

As a person, I hope he gets help, as a player, I want him to fucking disappear and never appear on my feed again. F**k him 1000 ways to Sunday.

  5. It doesn’t seem right that his suspension isn’t during the actual season. It feels like it makes the suspension way less significant since he was going to be off most of those months anyway.

  6. By biggest issue right now (aside from the fact that he fucked his team two playoff years in a row) is that I’ve heard no mention of rehabbing whatsoever. That, plus no public apology. He needs to rebuild trust and I don’t see any efforts resembling that so far.

  7. Trade him for a bucket of pucks and a roll of tape. That’s how useful he has been to us in the last two playoffs. Less so.

  8. At this point all we can do is root for him. Can’t terminate him. Can’t trade him. If he comes back and dominates and wins another Cup he’s redeemed. Until then be pissed, but rooting against him is rooting against what’s best for the team.

  9. He already had his second chance.

If someone shows you who they really are – twice – believe them.

Hope he goes home and plays the rest of his career in obscurity in the khl.

  10. I’m rooting for him as a person, outside the rink, to get his shit together. But the Avalanche have given him enough chances as a player and I think it’s time to set that boundary that as a business, only so much can be tolerated before its time to cut ties; and as a fan, I’m done with him letting my team down.

  11. A cloud like that smothers a dressing room. Hope Nuke figures it out, but give him a fresh start with a room full of optimism. He’s let these guys down twice now

  12. You’re never 100% recovered from addiction. Sobriety is a lifetime of work and grace. Personally I hope he goes a lifetime sober. Professionally, he’s a huge liability since relapses are a part of recovery. Can’t afford it in this profession. Get rid of him and take the production hit

  13. Regardless of the fans wanting him gone or not, he’s on his 2nd strike. If he fucks up again (fails one more drug test), he’ll be cut from the Avs AND we don’t have to pay him the rest of his contract. He pretty much has no choice besides playing his ass off and earning forgiveness or getting cut and never playing for us again.

  14. Eh he’s fucked up twice now at the worst possible times. I hope he gets his shit together, but I’ve got zero faith he actually will.

  15. I always like to hope someone can do the best with what they have. I’m really hoping we can get the best Val we can.

  16. Doesn’t matter what any of us want. Fact is, they are not finding a replacement that can come close to doing what he does. They might as well utilize the remaining nuke power that they have already paid for.

  17. Oof this is a hard one. I wish the Avs could cut ties with Val. I love him and wish him the best but he really did us dirty… not once but twice. Fool me once and all that jazz.

  18. I hope he gets clean and lives a good life and career but I really don’t want to give him another opportunity to ruin things for us

  19. Jagr said he has the potential to be one of the best in the world….. but that was before the avs drugged him up to win a cup. How burky?

  20. I dunno. 9 goals in 11 playoff games last year on the booger sugar. He needs to stop getting caught

  21. It’s not even the drugs that are the big problem, it’s what he has (allegedly) done while on drugs that is the problem. Look into it man. Honestly if he never plays in the NHL again, I’m fine with that. He is human garbage, and should probably be in prison.
