Sad day for hockey indeed. Columbus have just put out a statement in regards to Johnny. Once again a sad day for hockey

  1. Crying on my way to work. His sister’s wedding is today and he has two young children. This is a such a fucking tragedy. Prayers to everyone in his family💔

  2. Words cannot express this tragedy. This must be devastating for his children and the parents.

  3. Rest in Peace to Matthew And Johnny Gaudreau.

They may not live among us but live through us for some of the many people that got to be blessed by both of there presences.

May god be with us all at this time And Matthew and Johnny live on through us.

God rest Matthew and Johnny soul

  4. I feel absolutely horrible for their family. Riding bicycles on roads has never been completely safe but in the age of distracted driving it’s especially so.

Don’t share roads with vehicles on bicycles or motorcycles, it’s not worth it. You’re putting too much trust in other people.

  5. Fuck man. His sisters wedding was supposed to be today where Johnny and his brother were to be groomsmen. Absolute tragedy.

  6. Rest in peace to Johnny and Matthew. Johnny Hockey was always one of my favourite players.

  7. I was hoping against hope that the rumor wasn’t true. Something definitely needs to be done in his memory, one of the true good guys – not just in hockey, but in life.

  8. I just read what happened. How terrifying! Every time I read something like this it makes.me sick. My husband and I are avid cyclists. I also drive a commercial vehicle 100 miles a day. Drivers are getting worse every day. I am so sad for the families of those two brothers 💔

  9. Actually sick to my stomach. In disbelief. Like what the fuck man? He had two kids. His sisters wedding was today. What the fuck.

  10. Absolutely tragic. So sad for the Gaudreau family, and for the Blue Jackets players and staff who knew him

Related note, but this being the second time a Jacket has died far too young in the offseason (in just the last few years) is shocking and terrible.

  11. I followed him from Calgary to Columbus because I loved watching him play and was super excited to finally see him play in the stadium series next year, a talent and such a good human gone way way to soon condolences to his friends, family, team mates and all the communities he’s impacted over the years.

  12. This is so unfair. I cannot even begin to imagine what that family are going through. What a senseless waste.

    Drinking and driving is unforgivable.

    Rest in peace Johnny Hockey

  13. I really think we should give people a new driver’s test annually. And it should be a lot harder. 50% of people who are out there driving around every day have absolutely no business behind the wheel.

  14. Just terrible news

He had his life all lined up

Face of a team, mentor to young stars

    A young family

Just gutted for his family, friends and teammates

  15. This is the worst news to wake up to. I feel terrible for his sister who is supposed to get married today.

  16. Wings fan in Calgary/former Flames season ticket holder. I basically watched his entire Flames career. Absolutely gut wrenching. My thoughts are with his family as they deal with this unspeakable tragedy.

    RIP Johnny 💔

  17. so sad 😞 i remember his days in Boston, taking my kids to watch him play… God i wish people could stop driving while intoxicated…. what a senseless tragedy

  18. Whether in Calgary or Columbus, Johnny was a lot of fun to watch and played the game in a way that you wanted to cheer for him. He was one of my favorite players in the league, and I am going to miss seeing him fly down the ice.

He will definitely be missed by a lot of people, and the game of hockey will worse off not having him out there. RIP Johnny Hockey, you were a special talent and person.

  19. Wow….horrible. Thoughts are with his family and his brother’s family. RIP Johnny Hockey.

  20. If you plan on going out drinking, get a ride from someone you know or Uber. This driver’s entire life changed overnight because of a poor decision that killed two people. It’s not worth the risk even if you feel ‘good enough to drive’.

  21. I feel horrible for the parents. I couldn’t imagine losing one child, losing 2 would be devastating.
