I don't think Altuve gonna make it even into the 4th year in his contract he's starting to break down you can see it
OK. Two things, podcast. Food for thought: First, back when the Astros were stuck in the bad streak, we were saying that the postseason was unreachable. Mid September, the team's almost there. And right now we're like not wanting the WC plus afraid of what the opponent to meet there? C'mon. What are we doing here?
Second, we just got King Tuck back from injury & we're being patient with him to find himself in time for the playoffs but acting the exact opposite with JV? It doesn't seem fair to me.
Anyway, it's a fan thing. And thoughts & prayers go to Eric. Hope whatever he's going through is doing fine.
I think we have to temper expectations we said the same last year about how good this team is, they just need to get in the playoffs. Do this team have talent to beat any team? Yes, they did last but couldn't hit at home. This year issue is the inconsistent hitting they havnt fixed. This team isnt better than last team.
Orbit cameo in the thumbnail hahaha love it Go Stros!
Man this late season addition of the guy kyle tucker has been HUGE.
4 HIT game with a homerun?
Brett, I love JV but he had every chance to prove he’s better for the postseason then what we have. At this point it’s Valdez, Brown, Kikuchi, and Blanco. Blanco deserves it, he’s pitched great all year and he has a 3era easily the best 4th starter in the MLB. No way Espada starts JV. He might not be washed up but he’s definitely not ready so close to his injury to pitch a playoff game.
Remember the fire Springer and Correa had for winning? I don’t see that in this year’s team. Breggy and Tuve have it to some degree, but we are missing a stud at shortstop (Pena had rookie luck), King Tuck is clutch but stoic. Singleton may be that guy we need at first base, but again, he’s not a team leader. Yordan needs to play left field regularly to be a consistent hitter. I think our 2 catchers are good and Dubon is an exceptional utility player. That leaves center field. Jake comes through with timely hits on occasion, but he’s not a stud. Frankly, we have 4 very good pitchers and the rest are not good enough. Framber, Brown, Kukuchi and Hader are very good. We need a lot more help and it’s difficult to predict which injured pitchers will ever be good enough to play again. Blanco, Abreu and Arrigetthi can be very good, but they need to be consistent. McCullers will never pitch in mlb again and JV shouldn’t either.
I think it hurt King going back down to the minors over and over again even when he was pitching well
Astros living rent-free 💪🏿😈🏆🏆
JV looked old, fat and tired and the other teams are just waiting to pounce on him.. you can see it… the M's won against the Rangers, but the Rangers are just a shell of what they were last year… maybe put JV on a pitch count…. we will see.
I need to see the starting lineup back to Altuve, Bregman, Yordan, Tucker, then Diaz in that order. Yordan is not seeing enough pitches before his AB when he's behind Altuve first pitch swinging
In this 7 year run this is our worst team
He’s like Bagwell. JV was great back in the day but time to move on.
Well, Taylor Scott has been far more than shaky if he makes the playoff roster and they have to put him in a game. I would let him pitch to maybe two hitters and see how he does if either one of those get on base I would pull in he has gone crash into nowhere Ville.. So I’m gonna do a quick deep short dive into my general take on the Astros starting pitching is phenomenal. I believe second to none what I am beginning to wonder is why did the Cubs let Hector go? Is there something there we should be concerned about??? now the two things on my mind, it caused the most concerns are obviously hitting right now. For instance Yordan Alvarez has gone into a funk and when he goes into a funk, nobody knows when he’s coming out. That is a problem now also, there is Altuve. I’m not so much worried about him even though he’s in a slump. I think he will come out of it OK? Now we come to the biggest problem that I wish I did not have to talk about, but I think I do manager Joe Espada. I am not at all sure he is ready for the big time.? this Astro team is so immensely complicated, and to push all these buttons correctly has taken and will continue to take an enormous toll on a manager! Now is Joe up to the task. I just cannot say yet. One thing I do not like is he is constantly trying to mix and match and juggle maybe a few too many pieces? that is what has me worried the most Espada is a good manager and he could become a great manager, but I do not think at this time he is ready to take over and when a world title and mind you I hope I am wrong. I really do.&? as far as Verlander goes in my opinion, he will definitely make the playoff roster and I think it’s possible he could contribute. This man has an iron will and he is focused on winning a 300 games. I think he will be back with the Astros next year, looking for some wins and he knows he has a good chance with the Astros. He might have to take a pay cut, but I think he would be willing to do that. I also think if the Astros are not willing to pay him what he wants, he will go elsewhere because he is determined to get those 300 wins regardless of who he has to play for.!? Oh
J.V. is a mess, fans don't trust him at the moment but is he washed? I would hate to think so but as of right now, fans don't trust him in these very important last few games, we should take our chances with Arrighetti who has been more reliable. Go Astros!
