2. I don't know. The Guardians payroll is like the third lowest. No one is complaining in Cleveland right now. They go to the playoffs every other year. World series 2016. Management might be the issue with the Pirates. Lots of teams throw money at a payroll with little results.

16. The Pirates and (my favorite team —>) the A’s are prime examples of why baseball needs RELEGATION & PROMOTION like the Premier League in England.
    Ie. If your team sucks (bottom 3) then your franchise is relegated to AAA and the top three AAA franchises are MLB franchises the next season; no franchise is immune. This works through all levels of baseball… bottom 3 AAA goes to AA; the top 3 AA goes to AAA etc. This way franchises have to EARN their way to the top and stay there. Bonus, at the end of the year, the bottom teams are still fighting to stay in the show giving fans a reason to pay attention.

    Was a mistake to sign Rowdy over Carlos Santana for a $2 – 3M savings in the offseason in the 1st place, then was also a mistake to leave Skenes in the minors to start the season & waste 7 starts of his in Indy. Both mistakes were financially driven, so this dfa wasn't surprising.

27. Pirates will use up Skenes and any other talent then trade them off for prospects and continually rebuild. Meanwhile the owners will take in revenue to make money. I would love to see MLB and other sports come up with some type of financial penalty for franchise owners that do this stuff. They can’t relegate them but they can cut teams out of revenue sharing. What penalty will the White Sox face for sucking historically. Hurts the league to have bad franchises. Maybe the Commissioner could appoint an official to run the team, maybe have a minimum salary budget, maybe actually developing a relegation system. What would a corporate entity do if its franchises were underperforming? Everyone says nothing can be done but nobody tries anything. Not just baseball either.
