Congrats, Twins! (2024)

When you absolutely collapse like the Twins did, there’s plenty to blame for it. Most of the fall was coming for a long time. Just look at how Minnesota’s ownership performed this past year: Cutting payroll, not opening up the wallets at the deadline. It’s so surprising, yet so inevitable.

But what a collapse. Damn.

  1. and people are talking about expanding to more MLB teams. There's not enough depth for half the teams out there already, and they want to dilute the talent pool even more???

Payroll bullshit is going to hurt this league until they create a stronger Revenue Sharing system and insist on a spending floor alongside the salary cap.

  2. I wrote the twins off years ago. Until they get new ownership I won’t support them. They try just hard enough to cripple into the playoffs and don’t care about the fans. The new stadium is now no longer the cool place to be and the numbers will drop.

  3. They were never that good to begin with. They are good enough to beat up on the bad teams (which they played a ton of early on) but were never serious contenders. Certainly not within the realm of the Phillies, Yankees, Dodgers or Padres

  4. The last time a Minnesota team played for a championship in ANY sport, the Soviet Union still existed.

Take a moment to let that sink in.

Edit: except the Lynx I guess

  5. ok now come on make one for the Tigers we straight up went from a 0.2% chance of going to the playoffs in August and clinched the spot yesterday while serving White Sox their 121st loss. Historic fucking run

  6. As a Twins fan, I think this is a good quick video, but one minor correction. The Pohlad's didn't GET chickenshit, they STAYED chickenshit like they have for decades. The lack of an RSN was just another excuse like COVID. This goes back decades, if the RSN crisis or COVID didn't happen, it would have been another year of "we don't build our team that way, we build from within, trust the process, blah blah blah." COVID and the RSN issue were convient scapegoats, and even the usual affable Minnesota sports fans are seeing right through those bullshit excuses.
Also there was an easy way for then to find money outside of the RSN, use their own (well, their deceased dad's) money as one of the wealthiest owners in North American sports.

  7. Thank you UTree for highlighting the true reason for this season, the Pohlads. But we should at least have to go through another long ass drought before we lose the win out of our name

  8. The MLB is a controlled carnival ride. And the fans just keep believing the BS. The umpires control the outcomes to benefit the bookies. Same for the NFL, NBA, NHL and don't even get me started on FIFA and the Olympics!

  9. As a royals fan, once vinnie went down the team had a collapse almost as bad and this video almost could’ve been about them. Just happy to be here now lmao
