  1. I think its interesting that the guy who caused the reset is allowed to linger around for a year while we reset, and we have a proven manager and former MOY available and were still d×cking around with Oli, Cardinals are one of the few teams that havent invested in the latin america market and it shows

  2. Head shed weighing us down. How about a trade of Arenado and Nootbaar to the White Sox. Gives them 2 known players, 1 a certain hall of Famer. For us it frees up $37M, rids us of continued frustration and opens up 3rd for a kid. We get Crochet in return. Immediately becomes our best pitcher. I watched him obliterate the Yankees for 4 innings. Guy throws between 99-78 with great movement and spin. I’m excited for our players. Although, Concerned that the MLB staff is the cancer holding them back.

  3. Great press conference. We all knew that Bloom. What's going to take over at some point What I did not hear was the status of the coaching staff namely the hitting coach.I hope that is addressed soon

  4. So who's pitching for this rebuilding team exactly we are trading are only good pitcher outside Pallante 🤔 so we go into next season with one starter that's played half a yr or so SMH Oli is a lame duck Mgr next yr because nobody is going to want this rebuilding job for at least the next yr or 2 and MO should be gone ASAP this all happens on his watch

  5. I"m excited about Bloom signing a 5 year deal along with the expected improvements to the minors. Bloom will have a lot of say on trades/free agency in 2025 you would think.

  6. Well the Birds were always the main sports team in St. Louis. The Blues and what football team we had were runners up. Now it seems the most popular team among St.Louis sports fans is the Chiefs. Everywhere I go here people are wearing Chiefs apparel and I mean everywhere. Imagine having the second most successful franchise in a major league sport such as the Cardinals, yet the fans are supporting a team from another city. I guess that's just how bad the Birds have gotten.

  7. The only good thing to come out of this press conference is the fact that Chaim Bloom's day is near.
I would love to see Marmol manage a year without Mozeliak lurking in his box. I believe he can do great things for this franchise without Mozeliak controlling him. Case in point: Mike Schildt.
Hang in there, Cardinal Nation! Better days are ahead.

  8. Hmmmm… This is all pretty much the news I expected to come from this. Am I happy about all of it? No. Does all of it make me mad? Also, no.

I knew Mo and Oli would be back. There was a better chance of a snowball's chance in hell that they would be gone. For me, the biggest take away is that it seems we are FINALLY accpeting that we need to rebuild. If we can get more staff, and preferably some upgrades to the ones we currently have, to help curate the young talent, then we could get on track sooner then expected.

My biggest concern with Chaim Bloom is the way he seems to view budget. With the Rays, it made sense. Boston wanted to shed salary, so Bloom was called in but fans weren't super happy with what he did there while it was happening. If he moves Arenado, it will remind me of Betts in Boston. So, I'll reserve judgment on him until he's gotten a season or two under his belt. I am happy that Mo will not be extended after 2025, but I'm also going to keep my excitement down a little.

All in all, my take away from this is, "We (DeWitt and Mo) recognize that this season did not go according to plan, so we think saving money is best until we can curate a team that looks like a real contender." I can only hope that when we do reach that point, we don't squander it like we did in 2022. I'm still bitter that we had the talent that year, yet Yadi, Pujols, and Waino barely got a sniff of the playoffs in that final hurrah, all because the FO thought we were good enough.

  9. Regarding the idea of Skip coming back, this is why I'm sort of okay with Marmol coming back for one more year. If I'm skip or Yadi, I wouldn't want to tarnish my legacy with a poorly constructed roster. It's a selfish thought, but until this organization gets the ball rolling in the right direction, I don't see why we should reward them. Hence why, if I'm Skip or Yadi, I'd wait until 2027 (or later) before taking the job.

  10. John Mozeliak was very good for this franchise. Key word…..WAS.

His best years of leading are well behind him and he’s allowed the franchise to fall WAY behind the 8 ball and it’s going to take some years to undo the damage done…..and in what’s become typical Cardinals fashion headscratching decision making….Why is Chaim Bloom’s ascension being delayed another year? What is the purpose of allowing John Mozeliak to oversee things 1 more year? To allow Bloom more time to evaluate?? What’s he spent the last year doing?? The team is shedding payroll. Why not allow Chaim Bloom to make those decisions? Is this an unwillingness in Mozeliak to let go or just stubbornness to relent control not under his own terms?

There’s not a reason that could be given from any of the brass that can justify John Mozeliak being allowed another year……Honestly, it’s par for the course. If the announcement came that it’s Chaim Bloom’s show….More people are excited. This just makes zero friggin sense.

  11. No more than you heard from Girsch anyway, do they need to fill that void? News conference was a joke, but get ready for a lot more trinkets given away to bring in the fans. Nevermind the product on the field.

  12. My take on Mo staying around is that it's part of a larger picture. We won't know for probably many years what all went on that precipitated the collapse of the franchise in recent years. Even if there have been struggles in that front office, there still seems to be enough respect between all parties to let some distance get between these days and ever when (and if) any of them decide ultimately to speak on it. Nobody outside that 8 or 10 people truly knows for sure if it wasn't BW all along holding the organization hostage to where dollars were (and were not) spent. It could have been BW all along stonewalling Mo for all we know, and now Mo is ready to move on after the collapse because he was going to retire anyway, and the conversation could have been as simple as this:

Along Clark Street it was overheard from an open window…

JM: Bill, you have f_¢ked me for the last 6 years! If you try to cut me loose I will whistle Dixie on your billionaire @$$. I'm staying on or I tell everyone!_
BW3: Got it, Mo. You're right!
Passerby: SIGN TREVOR BAUER, YA F_¢KIN RETARDS!!!!

  13. Its an act to cut payroll nothing more to go young you actually have talent to do so to draw fans dont worry if you trade gray mikolas with good velo is your ace and you dont need helsley to save games you have kyle leahy lmao

  14. From the owners point of view, give in to fans calling the shots then you open the door every season for that. Not going to happen. And if you owned the team, you probably would feel the same way. So, just don't buy game tickets, see if that works.

  15. Take our proposed team of youngsters in 2025 and give them a Mike Shildt or a Skip Schumaker as manager, and I would be rather optimistic about where we could end up. But the same players with Marmol will go absolutely nowhere. Put it another way: Shildt and Schumaker will be highly prized this off-season. No one would be interested in hiring Marmol at anything beyond AA level.

  16. I think maybe mo sticking around is Dewitt giving him one more shot, albeit a long one, at going out as “mo the genius” instead of what he has been the last few years.

  17. Mo has really miss managed this historic franchise. Should've cut bait. What would it take to get 10 more wins with this roster. You would be in the playoffs. So whatever method this organization decides I'm sure Mr bloom will have to give consent.

  18. My take
Fans will be paying major league ticket prices for a minor league team year in and year out. Oh, and you will be required to pay to watch our games on TV.
12th in payroll last year. Moving forward, look for the Cardinals to be around 25th to 30th out of 32 Major League franchises in player payroll, disgusting.

  19. Charlie, you are one of the best, hold your own with Bernie and Randy in the St. Louis sports landscape! Chaim Bloom should take control immediately, It would be his decision whether the team pursues Skip Schumaker to be his manager. If Oli was available, not many teams would be calling him compared to Skip! Elite managerial talent to maximize a lower payroll roster.

  20. Who is in charge of playing time in 2025? Chaim can overhaul the system, but that won’t prevent Walker from getting sent down or benched after struggling so we can keep pace in the NL Central. Will we keep Gibson or Matz instead of letting one of the kids fail for awhile in the rotation? The minors are only one piece of the player development puzzle that the Cardinals have been failing.

  21. These are a couple of questions I have: How much have the owners of the Cards made? Have they spent what they should have on the team?
How bad do these owners really want to win! Mr. Bush realized he needed to make serious changes in 1980. It had been 12 years since they had been in the WS. They had some really good clubs especially the 71 club! We have had a great run from LaRussa days to 2022.

  22. The Cardinal owners and front office say blah blah blah blah blah. 🤡 🤡 🤡. Hopefully, Chaim Bloom is schooling everyone he comes in contact with in the Cardinals organization.
