  1. They probably should have kept the hitting coach around, even though he failed miserably this year, honor his contract ya know. Why not? Works for Oli and Mo.

  2. You are in the lower 10 % that like Jimmy Edmonds on air. All the fans i know Have MLB because you can select the announcer. I will even listen to the CUBS over Edmonds but I blame that on finish his career with the Chicago.

  3. JD I think you're a smart guy and being as that why would you think someone already in the organization which is failing would be a smart choice no one from the organization should be promoted they need new voices from outside the organization because what they've been doing obviously isn't working

  4. I think the pitching league wide is much better this year than ever. You really don't see alot of crazy high BA's. Seems they have taken advantage of the video/ antalictics better than the hitters. Maybe a person to fix the mechanics of a swing is the most important thing to look for. Pitches are coming in too fast to really read spin anymore, so hitters really need something else to look for when hitting. When someone finds that is when it might even out again. Till then, pitchers are on top rn.

  5. JD like you I love Edmonds analysis and his keen eye even from the booth and the minute nuances he picks up on it would be nice I would even consider him as candidate for a manager if he wanted to commit I think he has the analytical aptitude and love for the game needed its the other elements needed for either position I also like you don't if Jim would embrace on a full-time basis.

  6. 0 balls 2 strikes waste a pitch.
    3 balls 0 strikes strike 1.
Ball right at the belt , look at the pitch.
Ball near the shoes, swing at the ball.
Runner at third, try to hit a homer.
Runner at rirst, one out , Goldy hits into a dp.
Bottom of ninth , strikeout strikeout pop out.
    Cardinals baseball 2024.
    Dang and drat.
    Only shutout 4 times.

  7. Kinda feel bad for both Jeff and Turner. Basically got ran outta town by the villagers with pitchforks and torches. Not that they really should have stayed for the exact reasons mentioned here, but the rioting fans were a little much!

  8. Sorry firing him was not enough everyone screams how well Ili did with the bullprn but they blew 28 games which was 5th highest in MLB and that dint include games that they list when tied

  9. Chaim will probably get who he wants for the hitting coach and he will probably be making trades and signing free agents as well. Mo will probably be there just for feedback.

  10. This is weird. The Cardinals fire a hitting coach who had failed. Yes Mo has failed for several years and ended up getting a two year deal. Marmel has failed two years in a row and keeps his job. I guess you can fail in the front offices and keep your job and get pay increases. I guess Willie Mcgee is on the chopping block? This is weird because DeWitt on down must believe fans are plain stupid.
Fans need to spend your money for what the owners have allowed to be done. Fans need to pile in to the winter warmup. Remember when they locked the players out and the owners canceled all activities for the fans. Just keep drinking the cool aid.

  11. You were right in all respects about Ward, JD. He was there when good things happened with our hitting, and Mo is the cause of the performance decline because it's the roster HE puts together. not Ward. …… but again you go too far when you say Walker belongs in the Major leagues, and maybe we can even question Gorman at this point. Those two have long term issues to address in their play — on both sides, offensively and defensively. Those issues have to be broken down, rebuilt and addressed in the Minor leagues, there is no quick fix that can happen at the Major league level. Coaches here are maintaining consistency of 26 players, they are not here doing major reconstruction of players. There's no time for that.
And at the top level, you can't waste two spots on your roster with players who struggle to perform competitively every day, while other teams are at full force. If Goldy won't be brought back for one more year, then Walker and Gorman don't belong, until they prove in the Minors that they belong.

  12. StL cannot improve Minor League development by moving hitting coaches out of the Minor leagues up to MLB, when recent players have been coming up as unprepared as they have been to hit MLB pitching. That "from within" is the approach that has gotten us to where we are, seems to me, if the review by Bloom is to be believed that we've fallen behind. Those guys need to stay where they are, but put more help down there with them to improve coach-to-player ratios for better instruction.
My choice for hitting coach would be pursue someone recently retired after a long career in MLB as a player, not necessarily a former Cardinal. Could that player be Joey Votto? Would he be interested? IDK, but he sure had a successful hitting career for a lot of years, and just retired.
Jason Heyward hasn't retired yet, but at his age (35?) he might be willing to retire and take a hitting coach role. He was signed out of high school, has been with winning franchises throughout his career, including a World Series winner, and that winning background is a plus he'd bring with him, to help with club leadership. And he could also help with outfield defense instruction, not just hitting. I have the impression he wants to remain in baseball beyond his playing career, he has been dedicated to the game of baseball all his life.
