Yeah Dean was solid. If this defense can get back to anything close to middle of the pack or better we’re in business.
This move excites me for one specific reason:
Going back to 2012, and even SB47, Pees’ specialty was being a great game planner.
Whatever our deficiencies were roster-wise, he was maybe better than anyone at compensating for them, even against top competition. To wit, the entire 2012 playoffs.
If that’s where ZO is struggling, he brought in the exact right person.
Bend don’t break, step back from what MacDonald ran in my opinion
He was known as Swiss Cheese Pees for a reason. I can appreciate Orr acknowledging he needs help, and there’s much worse options than Dean Pees out there, but this does not excite me or give me hope for the defense in the slightest.
I had Pees as a DC but hopefully he’s not going to reframe the vision of the D, just offer some perspective.
Not a fan. But he does have a wealth of knowledge that could be valuable for Orr.
I will say I think people underrate Pees a bit. Those 16 and 17 teams had playoff defenses that honestly carried the team as our offense that was absolutely diabolical to watch.
Ugh now I remember all those classic “prevent d” finishes.
