I still believe that this all comes down to the owner. Chris just doesn't want to spend the money he inherited from his Dad. Scott and the Tigers as well as Stevie and the Red Wings are hamstrung from an owner unwilling to spend money to make the teams better that these GMs have been asked to improve. Gundy may be a terrible owner in many aspects, but at least he showed he's not afraid to throw money at a coach, thrown money at that same coach to get rid of him, and throw money at a new GM. Now if he could throw money at players when that new administration comes to him, then great, and I feel like he would be more willing than Chris I.
People forget that if the Twins won just 2 more game we wouldn't have even made the playoffs
The Tigers lost 26 million in 2023 and made 17 million in 2024 with a low payroll. I'd be afraid to spend money on a team the fans don't support. They are 24th in revenue and attendance in all of baseball. If the fans don't spend or show up, I can't fault the owner for not spending. There is just little support for the team. There isn't enough demand for them to get a good TV contract, so more than half the fans can watch them. And people want the owner to drop 60-80 million more a year on picking up more players for a team that struggles to break even? …. that's how you go bankrupt.
Please add Alex Bregman! Baseball progression isn’t linear and tigers could easily regress & miss the playoffs next year! I went to about 22-25 tigers game this year and that’s a slap in the face to fans thanks Chris I!
If we don’t do anything but add 1 year guys, we’re not repeating this run
For those curious, these are the names they ended up listing. They really didn't list much compared to how much they hyped up their lists in this clip. Rico: Jack Flaherty, Walker Buehler, Max Fried Mike: Corbin Burnes, Christian Walker, Alex Bregman, Nick Martinez Kenny said he'd be okay with trading Max Clark for Vlad Jr.
Who cares about losing in the playoffs? You plat to win a ring. You either get game changing stars or you keep building. You don't get used up bregman coming off of elbow surgery.
Cut Baez. Sign Adames. Sign an SP2. Sign a professional DH.
Miguel Cabrera, Darrell Evans, Guillermo Hernandez, Chet Lemon, just a few legendary Tigers acquired by trades. Mark Canha? C'mon, leverage some impactful trades!
came here and wish i hadn't zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I’d start with Bregman, you cannot go with what you were doing running platoon at 3B. Bregman checks a ton of boxes there, next I’d go with Yusei Kikuchi or any other two SP, round that off with Christian Walker at 1B and BEFORE ANY OF THAT, give Skubal his money. The OF core is fine, but that IF isn’t very good and they need SP in the worst way
