  1. I was curious, so 801 for Marty and 860 for the others if you include the playoffs as well.

  2. I assume that second number plummets if you drop Sean Burke and/or Cory Schneider from the “other Devils Goalies” group

  3. His records will never be broken, GP – W – Shutouts, goalies just dont play 70+ games per season anymore. His durability was insane and its what pushed him above Roy and Hasek for me as the GOAT.

  4. I am obviously biased but Marty being the GOAT in my book for goalies comes down to his longevity and consistency. The consecutive 40 win seasons. The NHL changing rules to limit his effectiveness. The workload that at the time was so impressive but is now just laughably unthinkable. And the fact that even though he played well past his prime he was still able to put up great seasons into his mid to late 30s.

And it will never ever not piss me off that he threw up 3 fucking shutouts in the cup finals, won, and didnt get the Smythe.

  5. Still miffed that Marty had to go through 3 play-stoppages during his career. That could’ve been another 70 odd wins or so.
