  1. He’s critical for developing our current pitching, but also attracting new pitching talent. Ruben’s reputation precedes him and it’s known he can fix pitchers (see Estrada)

  2. Off-season is off to a good start stabilizing our manager and coaching staff. Niebla is as good as signing a pitcher since he has proven he can get the best out of pitchers.

  3. Great investment. He’s done a great job with guys who have been brought in from other clubs. Hopefully, we get to see him develop some homegrown talent, too.

  4. With him being a major influence for bringing the new pitching lab in SD…there was a never a doubt he was coming back.

It would’ve made absolutely no sense for him to start it up only to leave a season right after it’s just been active and open.

So glad the pitching magician is now officially ingrained in the Padres’ family.

  5. Love Shildt, but Ruben is our most important coach. I hope he stays until we hand the Manager job to him. He should never leave this organization.

  6. Now that we know Niebla is sticking around, I’d still love to bring Snell home, but I think the Padres should be pretty aggressive in going after high upside starters who carry some risk (Shane Bieber, Nick Pivetta, Nate Eovaldi, etc.)
