Is this our Juan Soto?

  1. Ladies and gentlemen , your opening day first baseman. Looking forward to having a guy who can hit 190 with some power and a strikeout to walk ratio that makes O’Neil Cruz laugh.

  2. Yes. Mr. Nutting said, “Spare no expense! Only the best for the fans of the Buccos! We’re going to invest every last penny into this team for the city of Pittsburgh!” sounds right? lol. SELL THE TEAM!

  3. I hate Bob as much as the next guy, but this is a fine/good move. I want to see real signings too, but when the opposing team hits a grounder to first in Indy the rules do obligate us to pay a ballplayer to stand there and field it. Having that be a guy we get for free who has some intriguing power sounds fine.

  4. This could be the most Pirates move ever. Gotta give them props on finishing last again in 2025.

  5. In 2023, Trey Cabbage posted a 30-30 season while also hitting over .300 for Triple A Salt Lake City in the Pacific Coast League. Yinz can look that up.

Mind you, he did that at age 26, which means he was a couple of years older than most legitimate prospects at that level. And he has never done anything else remotely close to that kind of production, as evidenced by his career .259 average in the minors. Further, the PCL is notorious for inflating the offensive statistics of many players.

Even so, what Cabbage did in 2023 is impressive. Just sayin’.

  6. Anyone else tired of the excessive negativity? This is a very typical procedural move that teams make.

  7. I sorta want him to make the mlb roster and hit some dingers just so I can hear Brown throw out lines like “It’s all about the Cabbage!!!”

  8. For once I’d like one of these guys we make fun of like this to actually just be somehow super elite. I want Cabbage to hit so many home runs people say fuck lettuce

  9. Thank got was hoping we were gonna sign another .200 hitting player cause we didn’t have enough of those last year.
