Veteran Leadership Amid Kris Bryant’s Ongoing Struggles with Rockies

  1. This signing only ever made sense for the Rockies FO. The only sane option is to cut bait and pay the man. Do not trade him and pay another team $50 mil to take him.

  2. Idk why this article speculates about trades. The Rockies are stuck with him every miserable minute of that contract until it’s up and he’ll get every blessed cent, as he should. It’s not Bryant’s fault the Rockies are comically stupid and probably didn’t even do a physical.

  3. If the Rockies were to cut him and another team picked him up, the Rockies would owe the majority of his 2025 contract, but the new team would then be responsible for the rest of his contract for 2026, 2027 & 2028 at $27M each year.

And there is no way another team pays $81M for 4 years of Bryant. And the Rockies are on the hook for $108,000, 000!! That is free, so there is no trade value.

The Rockies then have two ways to play this: 1) Hold him and hope they get something, anything from him on the field instead of nothing if they cut him. Or 2) they can cut him and just move on. The contract is a sunk cost and the open roster spot is worth something.

  4. Alternatively, the Rockies can Bobby Bonilla this deal. Restructure the contract to pay him a big lump sum now and a million a year to him and his heirs for the next 100 years.

Lol, why not drag this out forever. The whole thing is laughable at this point.

  5. Why do we still speculate about Kris Bryant? Is three seasons of him sucking not evidence enough that he’s washed?
