Does "One Year High Cost Players" = Pieces to trade for prospects at the Trade Deadline?
Did someone mention Skuby Snacks?

GOLDSHMIDT
Bregman – YES
Could Tork be a 40 home run guy? But… If we trade him, we should keep 1st base open for JOSUE BRICENO for sure. Give a 2 yr contract to PAUL GOLDSHMIDT!!! πβΎπ€©
Baseball is now reduced to two teams who can afford stars. The Dodgers and Yankees are it. The rest of the teams only hope to make the playoffs. Trade him for valuable minor leaguers, what options do you have, if baseball doesn't get a salary cap, Competition will no longer exist. Either trade him or lose him, those are the choices available.
I'd rather have Arenado. Harris can make that happen
If Scott Harris doesn't want to sign good free agent players to long term contracts, then he is holding this franchise back. I am not interested in watching the Tigers copy the Moneyball strategy because it simply doesn't work. We have a great manager, we have the best pitcher in MLB, and we have a solid young core of players to build around. It's time to push in some chips to win our first WS in 40 years!
I think it's hilarious that people still can't wrap their head around the fact that Scott Harris does not control the budget.
Scott Boras is my enemy
Look at what happened when Dave Dombrowski was GM he how much money was spent on signing player's to long term contracts to win a world series which never happened and the team is paying of the remaining amount of the Miguel Cabrera contract.
I want Bregman bad, but you're right. We cannot just give with a Javy contract
Hey Scott, thank you as always for being there and doing what you do. I understand what you are saying re the Tarik Skubal contract. I am a firm believer that the Tigers should present their highest offer right now and not kick the can down the road. I would think that Boras does have an obligation to present such as offer to his client and just not turn it down. If Illitch & co. pussy foot around with this and let the grass grow iunder them, they will very likely loose Skubal which would be a slap in the face to the organization and more importantly to the wonderful fans of the Tigers. If Illitch is not going to take the bull by the horns now, he should sell the team asap and take his millions with him. The last thing this team needs is to wait until after the 2025 season to end before getting serious. The coasl of free agency will then be too hot and teams like the Dodgers, Yankees and others will be waiting to pounce. Ray
Let Skubal prove last season wasn't the career year, he needs to show he can be healthy and dominant for another 2 years…If so, You still don't give him more than 2 or 3 year extension.
And, you shop him again at the deadline this year. And next year. No one is worth 30 million a year for another 8 or 10 years? Same reason you don't give Bregman too much for too long. (cough…Cabrera…cough…Javi) It's easy to say "just open the bank" when it's not your money.
The last decade has been a time when the Tigers had to re-analyze what they are. Big market? Mid-market? Small-market? What should the Tigers do say, five years down the road? Will they make a concerted effort to keep Skubal, Greene, Carpenter or let walk? Trade them? I live in the SF/ Oakland area and I have seen what happens when a team on the cheap (think, the A's) goes and trades stars away when they approach free agency. Chris Ilitch has some things to think about.
