If the Cardinals trade Nolan Arenado, where could he land?

Brenden Schaeffer discusses potential Nolan Arenado trade destinations. In the event that the Cardinals trade Arenado in the coming weeks, where are some possibilities for where he could land?

One in particular has Brenden intrigued, but he’s not sure whether the numerous variables in play would lead to a potential deal.

Plus, an interesting comparison of this situation to a previous example in Cardinals history from a recent STLToday article (Link here: https://shorturl.at/pxz8X).

Does Arenado want to be gone or is he just the puzzle piece that has the best fit to be traded for what the Cardinals are looking to accomplish this winter?

  1. Whatever team comes up with the best return. I really hope they move him and let the other Nolan (Gorman) take the third base reigns over and reach his potential. I believe Gorman will reach All Star caliber status at some point very soon.

  2. Anyplace. Please. Go Cardinals. I’m bullish on the kids if we can get some wise coaches in the dugout to teach the batters to stop being g so passive early. To have a sense of urgency. If you can’t let it go, and it’s a ball, drive it foul.

  3. Hope Arenado gets moved and i know there is a small list of teams so what we get might be what we get and maybe we add a few to help the trade. I hate to see him go but it does not fit what the team plans for him to stay so getting anything would be good

  4. Just curious; why does Walker never come up in the talks about who would replace Nolan at 3rd? Admittedly, i don't know anything about his defensive acumen at the poaition through the minors. But barring being as bad at 3rd as he has been at RF, wouldn't that be a better option?

  5. A crazy spot would be the Athletics. Desperate teaming moving to a minor league park till they move to the new park. A aging vet that would maybe bring some ppl to the stands. Plus he will be closer to home. The A's will have to spend a little to gain anything from the relocation for the meantime. I'm putting very slim odds on this though lol.

  6. I would rather see nado go and everyone have a reset. I do not like Bohm because his attitude sucks and the young guys need a more positive influence. If Nado wants to stay then they need to pursue a serious starter or an OF incase somebody doesnt pan out. Fried would be awesome but it seems like FA do not like coming here anymore.

  7. Houston. With the Crawford Boxes in left, it wouldn't take a whole lot to get Arenado back to the 25+ HR range by just pulling fly balls. The Astros are also rumored to be interested in Paul Goldschmidt, who could also be a 25-30 HR guy by just poking fly balls into left field. Furthermore, those two would be supporting pieces to the muscle, instead of having to be the muscle.

  8. KC and Detroit would work I believe they would have some interest and the players they could send back in a deal the Cardinals would have interest in.

Phillies could deal Bohm off in a separate deal if need be then trade prospects to the Cardinals for Nolan

Angels could be a real wildcard…Nolan for Taylor Ward with the Cardinals paying down a larger part for them than the other teams I mentioned. It's LA and they're seemingly trying to compete this year and I figure Washington the manager would love to have some more experienced players. They did sign Travis D'Arnaud to help Hoppe
