We are an aged team with a mid tier qb and we don’t want another repeat of a team almost making the playoffs. We don’t need a top pick bc we aren’t a star player away. But if we have a high pick that we can trade back with and build a team of younger players. This draft isn’t top heavy and we can get some pillar players if we trade down or for next year. The fan base would be excited for that

    From 2014 (year Carr was drafted) the following qbs have been drafted in the 1st:
    Blake bortles, Johnny manziel, Teddy bridgewater, jameis Winston, Marcus mariota, Jared goff, Carson wentz, Paxton lynch, Mitchell trubisky, Patrick mahomes, deshawn Watson, baker Mayfield, Sam darnold, Josh Allen, josh rosen, kyler Murray, Daniel Jones , Dwayne haskins, Joe burrow, tua , Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, zach Wilson, trey lance, Justin fields, mac Jones, Bryce young, cj stroud , Anthony Richardson, ( not counting this years draft).
    So are we really gonna get better by spending first rounds on qbs? other than Mahomes, Allen and burrow neither of those guys is definitely better than Carr

14. Unfortunately, Saints' front office track record with the draft overall isn't very good. Pittsburgh, Baltimore, San Francisco, are few that come to mind that consistently hit on their draft picks especially their mid rounds so many players that turn out to studs. Saints doesn't necessarily need a top 5 pick but it depends on what their are targeting as well. QB, LT, DE usually are the only ones that are targeted this early. Saints scouting sucks so that has to be addressed, along with HC situation.

    It's CRAZY that Saints fan who are screaming to tank are also the same people that think Drew Brees is the best QB in history, a 2nd round pick and Alvin Kamara, a 3rd round pick, is a HoF RB. They can't put the puzzle pieces together.

35. In the last 20 years how many QBs have the New York Jets drafted in the 1st round? Russell Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round and was a coaching decision away from possibly winning two straight Super Bowls. Some guy name Tom Brady was drafted in the 6th round and I wonder how he turned out? Remember some fans were saying tank for Tua. The 49ers gave up 3 first round draft picks to move up to draft Trey Lance and now he is on the bench in Dallas. The Ravens (Trent Dilfer) and Buccaneers (Brad Johnson) won Super Bowls with QBs that the next season they barley played or were let go.

36. Big Ben, Flaco/Lamar,Rodgers/Love, those team picked good defensive players in the 20s after drafting Franchise QBs in the first round.
    2016/2017 Saints had the franchise qb, and were able to fill out a team. You tank to have a chance at that QB

37. Saints fans are delusional. Maybe it’s the raiders fans trying to act like a saints fan cheering for Carr. First 2 weeks Carr was loved, the next 7 games carr was bashed tremendously and people wanted him gone, now the past 2 games he is loved again. I just don’t get yall

38. Great stuff James. Let me help you out with making sense of fans, you can’t. The real facts are the middle rounds is where most teams are built. I honestly believe you could trade your first round pick every year to get more 2-4 round picks and build a great team.

43. tanking is insane, why wouldn’t you route for your team to win? a full rebuild is more than drafting & heck i think we have a better chance of trading for trevor lawrence or Joe Burrow and building around them for the rebuild.
