Comparing Manny Ramirez and Juan Soto’s 4 last seasons before entering free agency

  1. Amazing his OPS was a 100 points lower, but OPS+ was above Manny. Offense in those years was insane

  2. Maybe many young Red Sox fans don’t remember how good Manny was on this team but he was ***extremely*** good.

Manny was one of the best hitters this team has ever had, he literally could do everything as a hitter.

Manny was like Papi but a lot better as a hitter.

Which means if we sign Soto it would be like getting another Manny Ramirez but this time a lefty Manny.

  3. Considerably better OPS. Mildly worse OPS+.

The late 1990s and early 2000s were just a different time. By which I mean everyone was juiced and nobody cared.

  4. Manny is one of my top 5 favorite athletes… Also MVP baseball 2005 is the GOAT of all baseball games

  5. Soto is the best hitter baseball right now. Manny was “merely” a great hitter.

Oh, and Soto is younger and at least plays passable defense.

  6. Front office will probably offer the same contract they offered Manny, cheap bastards. Give Soto $1 billion!
