[Pope] Connor Bedard looked the most discouraged I’ve ever seen him after practice today. (Quote in body text)

"I could name 100 things [I could do better]. I don't know, man. It's been frustrating, for sure. I just don't feel like I'm really doing anything. Keep chipping away at it, I guess, and hopefully I'll find my game again."
I get it but he’s being too hard on himself. it’s his second season and he’s playing every teams top line most of the time. He’ll figure it out, his next goal will give him the confidence boost he needs.
I will say I’m not a fan of the line shuffling so often, give him a couple guys he can work with and give them a solid stretch of games together.
I blame Kyle from Chicago.
Maybe he should’ve got stronger this off season. He is always being pushed around.
Luke doesn’t want this team to play offense. He wants every game to be won 1-0 to try to save his job.
It’s miserable to watch. And judging by the reactions on the bench, it’s miserable to play as well.
Richardson plays The Islanders trap, of course Bedard is frustrated
Ugh… i hate chicago sports right now
Don’t get how playing him with Joey Anderson is gonna help him get out this slump smh
Why doesn’t he just shoot? Is he stupid?
Bedard is too skilled to be playing this defense only system. It creates zero offense and playing him with Joey Anderson is straight up hockey terrorism
Definitely missing Kaner in a spot like this to help him along. Richardson playing the trap game isn’t helping either. Bedsy should be taking 3-4 shots per game and instead it’s 1-2. He needs to be put in a better spot to succeed, stop putting him with Joey Anderson ffs
Obviously rag on Richardson for doing nothing to help the situation, but Bedard still did manage to get something going last year within the same system, also getting a lot of the toughest coverage from opponents, and with probably a worse supporting cast. He’s right to be frustrated in himself.
It is nice to see that, at least as of the Ducks game, the Hawks seem to be opening up the offense a little more (I remember seeing a lot more cherry pickers in the neutral zone in that game than pretty much any game all season), but this defense-first system is still hard to watch. Especially when it’s hampering the development of your star player (even if it’s been beneficial to other major pieces like Vlassic and Reichel).
I don’t want us to turn into the 2010s Predators. I really hated playing against that team for a damned good reason.
Anderson just isn’t a fit on any top line, especially with Bedard, who is so young still and is learning
Dickinson is fine, but they need someone else with top 6 skills/experience on that line with Bedard
If you told me Richardson puts every player’s name into a hat and pulls out five to make a line….I’d believe you. I’d even believe you if Mrazek or Soderblom ended up on the line.
Knowing Richardson’s logic, wouldn’t be surprised if he sent him down to Rockford
The gm needs to add some forwards with skill not wait 5+ years for all his draft pix to Maybe work out
Letting a first time NHL head coach lead the development of a supposed generational talent was such a stupid idea. Bedard on pace for an incredible 14 goal season.
Chicago teams and ruining star players, name a more dynamic duo
