Hope they both find good spots, but yeah, neither earned an extension. BDLC was a big disappointment.
Sucks about BDLC considering what we gave up for him but bringing him back would be a prime example sunk-cost fallacy.
Would be nice to get some lefty bats to replace them, felt like we were running 6-7 righties daily even against right-handed pitchers.
Joe not a huge deal but De La Cruz should have been brought back. He’s at least an major player that plays everyday
Say it ain’t so Joe 🙁
Any chance we look to bring DLC back cheaper? I know he was ass for us, but I didn’t think his contract was too expensive in todays market and I was hoping a new hitting coach would help him
DLC is improvement by subtraction. Career WAR of -0.3.
De La Cruz was a disaster.
Wasn’t a huge fan of Joe because Shelton deployed him way too much. No way he should have gotten almost 800 PA in 2 years with us. He’s probably fine as a bench piece.
Glad they let BDLC go, admitting that didn’t work out is a good thing to see from this FO
Connor Joe has to be cheap I keep though. He’s super streaky and sis his best work early in the year. Honestly, I’d save a roster spot for him if the price is right.
Someone give me the scoop on Connor Joe, what’s missing with him
They could bring Joe back at less than his arbitration number
So stupid to not give BDLC $4 after what we traded for him and considering how limited our options are…I hate Bob
I know he wasn’t good here but unless i really have someone else locked down. I would pay the 4 mill on da la cruz and try again. I am down to move on with a better option but also feel like da la cruz could bounce back.
Being scared during the trade about needing to get value and only pursuing multi year contracts really hurt. They gave more value for that second year of control for mediocre players then pursuing rentals.
Why is Stratton gone too? I looked like he was a league average reliever from his stats. Am I missing something obvious (injury?)
