Preds rumored to be interested in trading for CBJ defenseman David Jiricek.

Sell the elders
CBJ’s 2022 1st round, 6th overall pick btw. Elite prospect who’s fallen out of favorite in Columbus. Was recently sent down to the AHL.

This isn’t a bad move, if the price is right for a disenfranchised D man. Wonder what the price tag could be.
I don’t think we’re trading Molendyk but i could see Gibson and a second or something like that if they want another prospect. Carrier was rumored being shopped so he could be part of it too
That’d be great, however I highly doubt we actually get him
If we can get it done at a good price, let’s do it. We need some life on defense and some youth.
I was fucking highhhhhh on Jirichek during his draft class. This would be an absolutely huge get if it happens
If Trotz is actually interested in trading with Columbus for a Dman after losing a Dman to Columbus for nothing, then he is the dumbest MFer in hockey.
Replace Bruno and see how that goes before fucking with the roster even more.
CBJ and Preds fan here. I always root for Preds and Jackets trades because it helps me keep up with both teams 😅
I’m struggling to see how it makes sense for the Preds just because of the fact that Jiricek is NOT ready to play in the big league.
He is great at a lot of things but his skating is a glaring weakness right now.
I know Jiricek can’t help the Preds this year if he cant even beat out Jack Johnson for playing time on the Jackets.
Maybe trotz thinks getting rid of future picks and adding Jiricek will help next year and the following though.
Getting a big right handed defenceman to play with Skjei would be a good get. Plus, he adds size on the back end. But getting Scheen out of the rotation would be good too.
A bit of a Bill Zito maneuver minus the waiver wire.
The irony of the predators trading with Columbus for a defenseman, after they just claimed Fabbro would be incredibly difficult to swallow. That’s just terrible GM work if they pull the trigger on this. They likely could’ve swapped or sent Fabbro and a lesser piece for this guy. Now to make this happen, they’ll have to add additional pieces of lesser assets. They need to stop making panic moves and be patient. The team is too bad currently to sell or make trades. Let the players build some value first and wait until deadline when teams are more desperate for Stanley cup runs.
