Reports are out that Giants plan to reduce payroll in 2025 to get under the CBT. I give my thoughts on the Baggarly article and discuss where I think it is right, but also where it misses.

I’m not believing it. Posey coming on board made it clear the Giants intend to spend. I think Baggerly has less inside information than he did a few years ago.
Enjoyed the show last night. Good luck on growing your channel!
Congrats on 1k subs. That’s a great milestone young man
Absolutely idiotic. I understand those who agree with the argument “stay young get young cheap talent”, but as we’ve seen that’s very unlikely to ever succeed. What this team needs is a super star to rally behind that new young talent can get behind. Not a bunch of young people leading a bunch of young people.
Aka, while we still have the chance to get a star we need to do it because these years are rare. It’s quite possible we go another 2-3 years with no star as or even close to impactful as Juan Soto/Pete Alonso.
Congrats on 1k! I really hope they don’t. I can see them going under the tax threshold though and get a few players see how it works and go from there.
I truly believe that if they find a specific target player they can sign, the Giants will go for it. Otherwise we'll see a few middling contracts go away in favor of younger players. They are well aware it's not a one year overhaul. Too much to do in a single year. Awesome you got to 1K!
Good show
Congrats on 1K, deserved for all the great content. I'm praying that "reducing payroll" just means sneaking under the CBT and not trying to get back to the ~$170M range. They can easily shed 15-20 mil by trading/non-tendering guys like Yaz. Rogers, and Flores. Hopefully, that can give them room to add meaningful pieces while staying under the tax.
F*** the Giants. Becoming a sh** show each year. Nothings changed 😡🤬🤯
Anyways great stuff Cody and congrats on 1K subs!! Amazing
Congrats on 1k bud you’ve been killing it and I’m excited to continue to watch the show
It's "break even" all over again
Kim and a mediocre sp is my fear
Congrats on the 1000 subs keep up the great work man
It is completely nonsensical to go over the luxury tax in repeated years. There are increasing penalties for that that harm the team, ultimately with the loss of draft picks, etc..
Hey man, congrats on 1,000 subs. I think the money talk is kinda over rated. I'm willing to wait till spring training or opening day before I decide if I'm rooting for the Giants. Or if I'm like damn are we running the same team out there again.
Whatever……. just don't do it to go get Soto.
Fan base should also reduce ticket purchase and thank ownership for sorry water down teams that are put on the field.
Tbh I can’t imagine posey would accept the job with knowledge that they are cutting back on costs if that is true. Why put his legacy at risk like that? For what benefit? Seems unlikely
I hope they go with Rodriguez in the 7th and either Doval or Hicks in 8/9th that to me has great potential. trade the 10 mil from Rogers contract and yaz’s sign 2 bats 1st base/DH then maybe get Burns or Snell that could probably push up close to the tax then use farm players to backfill bullpen and bench. Matos and Wade in share time in right. You would have Wade and Flores coming off bench. I know it’s wishful thinking but think that could potentially get them into the playoffs though.
I was so upset when I saw that article, but feeling better now thanks
Congrats on 1K Cody, Dan and Ricky. You guys are more level headed and your content more entertaining than where you were last night. I'm wondering if the construction the Giants are paying for around the ballpark has anything to do with them spending less. I've heard it could be but, hey, rumors. Giants don't need to be the best this next year, just someone you can enjoy watching. Then continue the build!
Hopefully one day I’ll have the desire to give this team some money again.
Let’s go dodgers 😘👏👏👏👏👏
I was trying to comment the other day when I saw how close you were to 1k, but it said restricted comments for some reason and I'm always on the road when I catch your videos. I think that was just an issue on my phone though lol. Anyways congrats and well deserved! The speed of growth of this channel shows that you're dedicated and know what you're talking about! Keep up the work bro!
This position does make sense. This team is more than a couple top players away from competing. More reason to hate Farhan. What does not make sense is the signing of Chapman. Why extend him if you don't plan to really compete until his contract is half done.
Roki Sasaki 😉
An outsiders opinion and suggestions. Beef up your minor league system and for goodness sakes stop losing your draft picks. Priortize playing the young ones and fill in around them with whatever you need with low priced short term contract players out of free agency. They should look into what kind of pkg they could get for Dovall. If you can get a good pkg deal him off for sure. I would kick the tires on dealing off Webb as well. Build up your system for a couple of years before jumping back into spending serious money on players. Just try to field a team when fans go to the ballpark the team will at least be competitive for them. Stop focusing on the superteams (Dodgers- the new evil empire,Mets,Yankees etc) fix yourselves from bottom up.
Destined to be the NL cellar dweller for years to come.
Congrats Cody on 1 subs. I agree the Giants should look to shed salary by trading Wade, Flores, Murphy, Yaz, Taylor Rodgers, and absorb 7-8 million in a Robbie Ray trade. That would save them at that’s about almost 45-50 million. The Giants should look at signing Adames 7/180, HSK 4/60, Snell 5/160, Tanner Scott 3/50. Yes, we are giving up 2 draft picks and 1 million in international singing money, but that’s okay. We have no SS ready in our system. Scott would give us a high leverage lefty in the BP we need and he can close. Giants can sign SP Bieber to a two year deal 2/24 and give him a low AAV the first yr. If Adames got 20 million, HSK got 8 million, Snell 25 million, Scott got 10 million in the first year we can stay under the luxury tax, and still have money to spend in trades down at the deadline. I would look at trading for players like Sandy Alcantara and Josh Naylor who have one year deals left. If they leave via FA wee can offer Qualifying offers and recoup comp picks or resign them. Ramos, Adames, and Naylor in the middle of the order is solid. Sorry for the long entry.
Great video Cody a lot of great points. Hopefully, the Giants can be active.
