If we substract that from Kikuchi's total body of work, his career MLB ERA drops to 4.30.
If you can't beat them, join em.

Angels just love giving contracts to washed up old guys. It’s embedded in our franchise history.
Gonna be a terrible a contract. Unless we can slot him in as a fourth or fifth starter for 3 years. But then again playing 21 a year for a 4 or 5 is blasphemy.
I don’t get why “fans” complain about a terrible contract before he even plays. Dude got signed for market price. Inflation is real, look at your own paycheck and what you can buy now lol. The age of signing a 5 year deal for 30m are over.
I might be in the minority but watched him pitch twice in Toronto and thought he was solid. 3 years 68 mill seems steep but it’s not my money. Happy to have you Kikuchi.
I see a lot of people confused why some fans are rolling their eyes an unimpressed with the deal.
“its only for 3 years” “its not a 200m dollar deal or anything””hes coming off the best half of his career”
All fair points, thats not what most of us have a problem with. We dont hate the deal in a vacuum. We hate that it is THE deal. The fact that perry and arte try to tell people that they want to be competitive, scan our roster for weaknesses, and then decide that this is the marquee pitcher deal they want to do, shows how inept this franchise is. We needed a top arm PLUS a guy like kikuchi to sniff 80 wins next season. Last week perry said he wanted to add “one more starter”, this one starter isnt going to move the needle in any significant way. If kikuchi was the second best pitcher we added this offseason, everyone would probably love the deal.
Obviously we all know that they’re basically grifters at this point. But to spend the whole offseason saying they want to be aggressive and competitive and payroll will increase, and then come away with kyle hendricks and kikuchi as the major additions to the rotation when there were legitimately multiple aces and top of the rotation guys available, at this point theyre not even trying to hide the fact they just want your money and dont take the on field product that seriously.
just your typical angels signing, absolutely nothing will come out of it
Is he better than who we currently have?
Not buying season ticket until team gets better!
Another Tyler Anderson type signing. A solid 3/4 rotation starter. Angels still need an ace to think about being over .500
