4. I never understood how it was that the Angels were put in charge of fixing Sandoval's mental breakdowns. He's a grown man. He pitched more fits than strikes.

8. Good riddance to Sandoval. Lot of potential but his mental blocks are something he probably needs to overcome elsewhere. His “passion” was him just throwing a tantrum and acting like an elite pitcher even though he wasn’t. Any game I went to where he was starting pretty much assumed we would lose and I was right 99% of the time lol.

16. Yes! Kicuchi!! We need “wolfpack”players like Netto, O’Hoppe, Travis ‘D! I like this! You gotta be a dog. Arte wants to be a “dog”, but he’s a business man. There are way too many teams that fight harder, and that’s why we don’t “sniff” the playoffs, much less a Ring. I think we’ll actually be a good team this coming year…playoffs I don’t know? My only fear, not being able to afford good game seats! War ANGELS!

18. The angels development system is still broken until can do it consistently. They have not developed anyone under Perry regime. They have just drafted guys that are basically MLB ready. His all pitcher draft is looking like a bust right now. Same issue that Eppler had with delvelopmet Perry is having too because Arte doesn’t invest there. Perry is just working around it by drafting MLB ready guys

    Anyway, with the Yusei Kikuchi signing, does this open up a trade of TA? I still feel the Angels need an ace type pitcher, another infielder, and maybe another OF that can play CF, though that last one is probably in the bottom of the priority list. I say they sign Bieber (6yrs/$150mil) back loaded with an opt out after 2026, but years 2027-2030 will pay him $30mil a year. It’s possible that they keep TA until Bieber is ready and then trade TA if he has any sort of value at the trade deadline.

21. I get the feeling that the FO knows that there will be new sponsorship $$ from Japanese companies which is why it made sense to sign Kikuchi to offset part of his salary from additional revenue sources

22. And Jose Suarez is still with the team. Why? I will be fine with the Kikuchi signing as long as the Angels get a top notch starter. Please sign a top notch starter.

23. As a Braves fan I can tell you that you shouldn't look at the Braves non-tendering Canning as a sign that Canning is bad. We also non-tender Laureano who was a really good outfielder for us after we picked him up.
    The Braves are in a cost cutting node right now
    Sandoval being non-tendered isn't a surprise either and also not a reflection on how good or bad he is. Sandoval will sign a 2 year deal with a team option for a 3rd for about the same money he would have made on his last 2 years of his arbitration. This happens all the time

25. Great episode and I loved Mike being so candid. I have a bit of different take because I coach competive high school sports. I would expect a young athlete to take and implement technical coaching skills especially from someone with experience. I flat out find it embarrassing that the Angels managers and FO have explained how guys like Detmers, Canning and Jo Adell wouldn’t take the messages immediately and take forever to put them into their skill set. Yeah I’ve heard pro athletes say “stick with what got you here” but frankly none of those guys proved themselves and the ML level. I think Enright had enough of Sandoval and Canning and I think Detmers is close. See I find it my worst coaching pet peeve when and athlete in coaching says “ I don’t know what’s wrong” because coaches poor hours over film and instruction. It’s borderline offensive. That excuse may worked with Matt Wise but not Enright. Now I harken back to the idea that the players don’t “fear” Perry enough because he’s a suit and not a player. He’s also not an assassin like and Andrew Friedman who will dump you the next day. So Perry has to pull up the pants and start dumping these guys out if the org. Adell turned it around defensively and finally got to the toe tap thing so maybe there’s hope. But I think Perry finally cutting Sandoval and Canning is justifiable. I think GM PM is more invested in the new you guys guys like Dana, Aldegheri, Klassen etc. if he can find a way to get rid of Detmers for a bat or the centerpiece of a Garret Crochet trade then he’s outta here too.!
