Would you accept Arenado on the Yankees for the right price to play 1B or 3B?

Maybe if St Louis retains. But i think the other options for similar price are still better
Probably not at this stage in his career … great player though
I don’t understand this. I know he’s aging but 3b defense is his best skill set. And for how bad Donaldson looked washed quickly after getting here he was still plus plus at the hot corner
Moving him to 1B makes no sense. He is still a great defender at 3B.
St. Louis would need to eat a significant portion of this deal for me to be interested, though.
No thank you
he’s been slightly above average hitting wise since his runner up MVP in 2022, you’d be trading for his value at 3B and nothing else. definitely not moving him to 1B.
A few years ago, sure.
That’s great but his hit tool is gone. This would be burning money
Wow an aging above average player playing in a different position than they’re used to on a big contract? Yankees have never tried that before, let’s do it!!
If we are trading for somebody expensive to play first base I’d rather it be Bellinger
Absolutely for 3rd. Not with full retention though.
He’s clearly not an MVP candidate at this stage, but I think he’s got a good chance to put up a couple more good seasons offensively. His glove is still there and he’s got a fire that I think the team needs. I would rather Jazz at second and 3B options are thin.
And I’d double down if they don’t keep Soto. Have Jazz and Jasson in LF and CF, Judge back in right, Nolan at 3B, Walker at 1B, Volpe at SS and the rook at 2B and we are cooking. If they re-sign Soto, probably can’t go after Walker then but that’s where an option like Carlos Santana comes in.
To then have half of you bitch how slow he is running to first opening weekend, no.
Arenado and Christian Walker are 34 next April.
DJ and Rizzo both fell off a cliff at 34-35.
I don’t know why we’re signing up for multiple years of this.
Go get Soto and figure out cheap younger options everywhere else
Nolan Arenado loses almost all his value if he moves off 3rd.
Don’t we have enough players playing out of position?
NO
But is he open to being better offensively?
I am open to having a 3 way with Sydney Sweeney and Christina Aguilera circa 2002 in the ‘Dirty’ music video.
That doesn’t mean I will be taken seriously.
Arenado had a really off year offensively last season. This the third straight year his OPS and slugging dropped. I’m worried that offensively he might be cooked.
No thanks
Doesn’t moving to third base decrease his value significantly? I’m sure he’d play a brilliant first base, but it just seems odd.
I think the issue with Arenado is that if you bring him in and sign Walker, that’s a pretty old corner infield duo so their additions may have to be exclusive of one another. If you could get a younger 1B, maybe it makes more sense?
Overall he’s had a good career, but I don’t think it would make sense to pay $32M if his 2025 looks like his 2024 (not to mention, since he’s turning 34, there’s a greater likelihood it won’t be as good as that).
It isn’t his defense that is the concern imo. He is still a stellar defensive 3B. It is his bat that seems to be trending down that would give me pause. i haven’t actually looked into his numbers tho so maybe I am wrong.
He hit the wall. Sad. He’s healthy and not that old. The 30’s are such a crapshoot.
Only if they take on DJ’s contract.
I wanted him on the team like 10 years ago. Trump was a reality t.v. star and jeter started the all star game at ss…. this was a long time ago. Let’s stop paying for past performance.
Yankees tradition, sign guys who were good 6 years ago
Big NOOOOOOOO
