Wilson is a hell of a coach

  1. I’m truly surprised (& glad..) that the defense, since the beginning, has sustained a strong/consistent level of positive output in most categories. Coach DR, amongst our other coaches, makes rooting for the guys feel more wholesome lol

(I see how Chargers fans rally for Harbaugh, Steelers fans for Tomlin, etc. and it makes it feel nice to support the coaches as well as the players)

I haven’t really witnessed a (head) coach impact our fan base on a Jeff Fisher level— that of course takes time (& wins) to reach, but I hope we keep building a strong core ..by not releasing the core guys, including coaches

  2. Are the stats for our defense a little padded though? If special teams constantly give up yards and opposing offenses have to go less yards to score every drive, does that inevitably pad the YPG allowed? I don’t think our defense is bad by any means. But number 2? We don’t look like a number 2 defense imo.

  3. I mean this is yards allowed.

We’re bottom half of the bottom half of points allowed iirc.

Defense has been good, and special teams are a factor, but we’re the worst red zone defense in the NFL by far.

Contrast that with Vrabel/Bowen defenses that gave up yards but was always strong in red zone and third down defense while being mid in yards allowed.

Wilson has been good at 3 and outs/3rd Downs tho iirc, and we’ve obviously had some short fields and pick 6s that haven’t helped our PA, but it’s not great either.
